The exclusion of the pacific gaian sisters was honestly a shock to me, since that's probably one of the more action packed regions in the mod! From Invading Russains and Japanese, to the heathenous alaskan tribes, and the fact that if you are gaian you can hold temples without penalty and 4 starts have claims on massive amounts of land through lineage.
I'd Say the Batall Clan of Honduras. Descendants of Arabic refugees, their culture not the majority in any region, their traditionalist beliefs surrounded by mayans, asteroid followers and saint worshipers and the empire of the Caribbean, a campaign as their clan is a struggle to hold on to any land you can, but with the potential of forging a strong realm which can not be ousted by any power, forging a realm for your people and your faith in the depths of central america
Paul Mahonic has a really cool start since they updated him with new events. You and your lieges, the Miskatons, will start plotting against each other right away, culminating in an independence war (although I think you can get a claim on their title too). Once you're free of them, you can begin subjugating the other pagans in the massive kingdom of New England and, after a holy war or two on Hudsonia, can reform the Occultist faith. Someone even went to the trouble of making a music pack for New Englanders. Note: When you reform the Occultist faith, I highly recommend picking bloodthirsty gods, it synergizes well with their unique reform option, plus it just feels right in a religion where you worship C'thulhu and make pacts with demons.

His ancestor created the Kingdom of New England, in its day the largest and most stable realm the post-apocalyptic world had known. The dynasty is fallen from grace, reduced to only ruling over Boston while under the thumb of a tribal liege. Actually unlike the Holy Roman Empire the Holy Columbian Confederacy is holy (it's a feudal theocracy), Columbian (Columbia is another name for the USA), and a Confederacy (I don't need to explain that one).
Ze Corn King When the 13 colonies gained independence, Columbia was another name they were considering. We ended up choosing the United States of America but our capital DC (District of Columbia) still has the name and we call the US Columbia in poetic writing.
the country is actually spelled Colombia its referencing the same thing but generally Columbia is either North America or all of the Americas but Colombia is just the country
Alan Goldsmith You are confusing the country in South America “Colombia” with the alternative name for the USA which is spelled “Columbia”. They are not the same.
There are so many good characters in this mod. Basically one or two for every region of the US, Canada, and Mexico. In my first play-though of A.T.E. I picked Duke Mack of the Longhorn Realm (I'm from Texas, and I'm sure everyone picked their home to play first). When I started playing I noticed I was at war with the Aggies. I said out loud "Oh of course I'm at war with A&M, why would I not be?" I also decided to rename my dynasty to "Yu'Tee" (UT)
As a Representative of the Aggie nation we had decided to refer to your dynasty as the "Tee'yu" and like to refer to all the Longhorn peoples as dam Tee-Serfs.

I have always been partial to Baltus Groot of Hudsonia. While the Anabaptist faith does provide something of an obstacle towards expansion, you're well positioned to be involved in some of the more major events of the mod, and to have the power to actually do something with those events. What's more, the incredible diversity of Hudsonia demands careful work with your vassals that can be a challenge on it's own, especially if you seek to expand your influence using your vassals. I've had Hudsonian games go everywhere from powerful eastward expansion, to a restoration of the 13 colonies under Americanist ideals. It's really a great place to start as.

A fun thing to do: if you're playing as an Ursuline, especially Louisiana ruler, you can end the schism via occupying St Louis, effectively making the main Catholic church a heresy.
The only viable way to play this mod is to go québecois!!!!!!! With that beeing said, it becomes obvious that the best character is the countess Sarah Blanchet of Gaspé, simply because of the yolo potential, the bloodline, claims and that she rule over what is pretty much the oldest settlement in Québec. I'm not from Gaspésie, but any Québecois 100% know how epic and ridiculous it is to form the Kingdom of Québec from the depopulated administrative region of Gaspésie (it is also memy as hell).
