Solution architect in many cases (in vendors, not in house roles) is another name for solution consultant or solution engineer. It is a customer facing role and mostly responsible for pre-sales work. But in AWS, the SA seems also need to involve in some of the post sales consultant effort to ensure the cloud utilization and adoption rate.
Lucy, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! As someone who is looking to make a career shift later in life, your insight, approachable presence, and honesty have been very important for me!! Although I still have a long way to go, I am eager to join AWS once I have put in the hard work on my certifications!

Super nice explanation! I am preparing for the solutions architect exam. Looking forward to breaking into the industry! You got yourself a subscriber already.
Thanks for the video Lucy, I just passed my Cloud Practitioner exam and after watching the interview with Glendon, going to try and get Solutions Architect Associate out the way within a month.

Hi Lucy, Nice explanation on Aws SA I have a 11 yrs experience working in IT, last 6 yrs I am playing a scrum master role and recently I passed my Aws SA associate level. I wanted to shift my career as a full time SA Can you suggest how do I start as a SA ?
Are you from development background? Then devops would be a good fit for you If you're from system administration background then part of devops is still good like mastering in kubernetes, any scripting like powershell or pythons or bash would definitely give you an edge All these should top on aws or azure speciality Thanks
This was awesome Lucy, thank you so much! I just recently separated from the military and have been venturing in the AWS Cloud environment, recently passed my CCP exam and currently working on my SAA! Your video really put the cherry on top as far as what I want for a work environment!! What would you recommend as far as getting exposure with AWS recruiters??
Hope you can find the time to answer my question. No tech background but I just passed my Cloud Practitioner exam, started a course for the SAA. Do I need to learn any coding languages? How can I gain the experience necessary to get a job as an AWS SA without prior experience but with my certs? Thank you in advance. I’m confused and just need some guidance.
Hi Lucy, thank you very much for taking the time to make this informative video I was also wondering about this too. Fingers crossed 🤞 ☺️ you glance over this back again.
Hi Lucy, this video was so helpful. What's the average study time needed to get ready for the AWS SAA exam ? and is this possible without getting the practitioner cert ?
Lucy, being at Amazon, which is known as a data driven organisation, as a Solutions Architect do you have deliverable, like code for a developer, that you need to create for every customer project? Something like a document tracing business problem/requirement to design decision to tools/products recommended, which can then shared internally in the organisation or with the external audience. That way, the solution is not contained to just the architect's mind, but open for review, learning and continuous improvement.
Thank your for the video! How do you find your schedule, 9-5, more flexible? Do you get to do whiteboards, architectures with customers remotely at their office?
How much different is an SA compared to a TAM? Started at AWS last month as an ADC engineer (pretty much a CSE) and looking into becoming an SA or TAM 😁
Hey Lucy, glad to see you back to uploading on YT! Do you have any specific tips for landing an interview for the TechU program or an SA Internship? I achieved the SA Pro, joined the AWS Student Ambassador program and have tailored my personal projects/work experience around my consulting and AWS-powered POC's. Should I be focusing my resume around a certain tech stack or is it better to have my projects use a variety to show a breadth of knowledge? Your advice is greatly appreciated!
Hi Ashley, for the associate role i recommend following the standard resume templates found online PLUS an emphasis on your technical skills / experience - particularly on: AWS, networking, computer, storage, databases. If you don’t have relevant job experience, include any technical uni projects. If you’d like me to review your resume / offer more guidance, shoot me an email :)

Hi Lucy! I recently applied for an associate solutions architect program for summer 2022. Just received an online assessment to complete. Thanks for the great video! Would a CSA/CSE role be a good place to start to grow into a solutions architect role at AWS? I am a network technician and going to school at WGU for AWS Cloud Computing. I will be gaining CCP and all associate level AWS certifications and trying to decide which route I want to go. Will be graduating May 2023 I am not near an AWS or Amazon office. Would this be a role I can potentially do from home with some travel? I don't mind traveling, just not 24/7. Or would I need to look at a more technical role for that? You also mentioned another team that actually builds out customer environments in AWS. What role would that be and would a CSA also be a good entry point? Or would you have another recommendation for entry. I only ask about the CSA role as it can be WFH and I know WGU graduates get offered CSA roles regularly and I can aim for that near my graduation date next year, if I want. Thanks!
