I always enjoy your videos. One of my coworkers said that when she was in college, there was a sign posted in the financial aid office that read "lack of preparation on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part." She said that at the time she really didn't appreciate that but now she agrees 100%. We work at a public library and people often have an "emergency" that they have to do X before something closes or their child has something due tomorrow and needs X. We always do our best but sometimes... Also sometimes people come in upset over something that had nothing to do with us and we just happened to be a handy place to unload their frustration. Preparation and patience are invaluable everywhere.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie As a retired teacher, I understand dealing with people from all walks of life. It does try one's patience at times but makes me extra polite to others who deal with the public. Thanks you your helpful tips as I will be flying overseas for the first time in over 30 years in a few months. I do everything you advise and have been lucky to get kind and polite TSA agents (maybe they're kind because I listen, watch, and follow instructions - LOL).
God Bless the TSA lady at security at 6am in Sanford, Florida the morning I was flying home from my honeymoon. I completely forgot that my refillable waterbottle was filled up in my backpack. I felt like such a colossal moron, but thankfully it was a quiet morning, and she just took it, dumped it out into the garbage, and handed it back to me.
They always joke with me when I go through security and customs. One time on a lay over my friend and I got lost and ended up on the outside of the security area and had to go through the whole process again. The security person was killing himself laughing and just waved us through calling us ding bats and asked us if he could escort us to our gate.
I wish I could travel with you ! Lol I travel alone & usually am confused , etc . This is my first year packing efficiently ! In 2016 I checked a huge 50 lb bag!! It of course got lost and I was without clothes for 1.5 days
I keep my boarding pass in my “wallet” app on my iPhone. Airlines give us the option to add the boarding pass to the wallet. Super easy and makes passing through security efficient.
I have to say that I fly about once every two years and I've never had any TSA personnel be rude or short with me. I've even had security joke a little with me when the line is short. I just can't say enough about the help they give me when needed or just the nice smiles they give when I enter and leave the plane. I truly enjoy flying because of the staff.
One time a TSA guy was singing and was really nice. Other times other TSA people aren’t too friendly, but it’s not personal. The singing guy was so nice!
I did my research and even went as far as calling for the TSA cares program. The TSA was a nightmare going threw DA airport since I'm in a wheelchair and I have to children with cognitive difficulties. Having them ask the same question 10 times to have to answer the same way. Worst I've seen was an amputee demanded to remove their false leg. He did but I thought they could've handled it better rather than drawing attention to it. They are just plain rude when there's no need. There is a difference between being in authority and being a dictator with power issues. We are human, we are stressed and we make mistakes. Get a grip.
@@nycat1485 I understand as it's a government job. Retired teacher here. I always check TSA website before a flight to see if anything has changed since my last flight. I try to get through security as quickly as possible. I don't fly much, but security personnel have always been polite to me.
True, very goooood information and another yes in they could be rude. A flight attendant once told me in a very rude way that I was not suppose to send my child alone to the bathroom, I was just coming back from the bathroom, in my seat already and surrounded by people in there seats as well, so I said you are taking me for someone else, I am traveling alone, do you see any child near me. She was gone like a thunder without a “sorry to bother you” smile. Even if they work with a million people a day is not nice to be rude to anyone.
I will soon be flying for the first time in 12 years - from the UK to another part of Europe and our security is apparently really strict. I have been doing tons of research to prepare myself and your videos are amongst the most helpful out there. Thanks so much for helping so many of us!
I'm flying out in a couple weeks. Anything I should know that can help? I always get nervous when flying & I don't want to do anything that would set the agents off
Little tip from someone who ALWAYS needs water: You can bring an empty water bottle with you and fill it up once you pass security! That way you don’t have to pay for water at the airport.
Thank you for all your travel videos. I haven't been on an airpkane for over 10 years. Things have really changed with security since 2006. Thank you again 😊
Yes, in Albuquerque I wasn't required to take anything out of my bag, including liquids (I don't travel with a laptop). However, in Phoenix I had to take the iPad (anything larger than a cell phone) out but not liquids. Kind of depends on technology or perhaps some particular interpretation of a TSA agent. Who knows?
I know this is slightly dumb but thank you for this video as I am afraid of going through security lines as I have had bad experiences with security lines in the past so thank you for the tips!!
TravelTipsbyLaurie om gosh I didn’t think you would see my comment thank you for your videos they are so helpful and just keep doing what your doing ❤️😝
Thank you! Now I know why they are always so serious. You are correct, be smart and learn so everything goes smoothly. If you. Know what’s in your carry on (because you packed it yourself)and follow all the rules, you should be fine. I was missing you! As always, I love your videos they are informative and fun! 🌺
Thank you so much for this. I haven’t flown in 20 years and you know how much it’s changed! Just be gracious and LISTEN. This is what I got from your video. Am flying the latter part of September and am very nervous but t these videos help. Again eternally grateful.😊
Good job! You did a great explaining the what, how and why to do or not to do things. Security varies from airport to airport and country to country. It is better for everyone if you pack a good attitude and a cup of patience forTSA and/or other travelers.
What a Great video. We are planning on a trip to Mexico in May. I was brushing up on Rules and regulations and things I need to remember before we go..Your video presentation was SO good Thank you. Knowledge is POWER
really liked the tip on keeping the digital boarding pass in my photos by screen -shotting the bar code....Much easier than hunting through an app and or email.
Here is a new one I just learned. If you are travelling with equipment that uses Lithium batteries, YOU CAN NOT PUT THEM IN CHECKED LUGGAGE, they must be in your carry on. The other part of the requirement is that it is suggested that if the batteries are removable, that they be put in individual plastic bags in such a way that their power connections can not be shorted out by coins or other metals pieces. I always have an empty plastic bag that I use for my wallet, coins and keys that I use and it goes in my backpack(bag) along with my cell phone just before we get to the start of the TSA line. Also, coil up all your device chargers and cables and put them in another clear plastic bag. If the TSA x-ray operator can easily see what is in you bag, it will take less time to go thru.
A small added reminder from years past - if your souvenirs include a snow globe of any kind, check that puppy or just have it shipped. Do not under any circumstances try to get it through security. And another stink eye from the TSA avoided.
Thank you, thank you! I hope you realize how helpful a video like this is for those of us who are not regular flyers. June will be only my 2nd time dealing with TSA. Last time my husband and I were randomly chosen for TSA Pre Check which was so easy. I'm going to watch your first time flyers video now so I can hopefully ease my anxiety. Recommending your videos to all my friends.
As always, great video! A tip I recently learned...check (or just don't pack) ground coffee. It is allowed, but because it is often used to mask scents they may do additional screening/swab analysis on it, which can eat up a bit of time. I was just being frugal since we had almost a half a bag of Starbuck's left!
TSA doesn't care about ground coffee. Being all you want but put it in a bin so it can be easily seen. You don't think TSA can't see through that bag of coffee on the xray? Please...
I bought coffee beans from Dominican Republic but I tell the officer I bought some coffee with receipt. And souvenirs from my honeymoon. They are nice let us pass through no inspection.
I'm leaving next week to go visit my son and really appreciate your video. Last year (my first time flying down to see him) I got lucky and was helped by a couple young ladies who evidently fly frequently and actually seem to enjoy helping others. :) However, I was busy being nervous (about TSA rules, not the flight) and forgot many of the things they instructed me through. So, thanks!
Thanks, Laurie! You took the time to share some very helpful information. I have such a hard time understanding the mindset of someone who would not do their research before traveling :-)
I haven’t flown in over 10 years so this video is very helpful. As a government employee, I can empathize with TSA agents and understand how important it is to just do your job and not engage in unnecessary chitchat.
you give the best information that I have found anywhere. I am not a first time flyer but I still consider myself a novice. I I am so greatfull for your all of the information you have given me.
Thx Laurie. Excellent video. I have a pacemaker implant so I get a pat down instead of walk through screening, I tried to make lite if the situation and joked about getting a message from agent, she had zero sents of humour. I will always now be serious during unpleasant situations. And just get through it . Keep great videos coming.
I have been watching a lot of your videos! Good reminders and new suggestions! Thank you so much! I haven't traveled since 2000, but hoping for England/Scotland May 2022!
Agree wholeheartedly with your advice about being kind and not confrontational - you won't win - and you could potentially not get on your flight - just suck it up - be nice and get through it as quickly as possible. Complain to your friends later if you need to :).
I just went onto Facebook messenger and asked TSA a question. I cannot thank you enough for letting us know that even exists. I wanted to bring a dental scaler. It looks like an 8" hooked knife. What a dentist uses to scratch the plaque off your teeth. I use it for something else. I promise I am not "that traveler" who picks their teeth all flight😁 Yes, it is allowed on the plane. No specific packing, as many as you like. Thanks Laurie!!
Fortunately I was saved from a liquid disaster by the cashier in an airport shop. I almost bought a soda on the wrong side of security, but he asked so I didn’t buy it.
Thank you so much for all of your very informative videos. I'll be traveling with 2 13 year old for spring break and these videos are answering alot of questions that I have. Again thank you!!!
Oh fun! We will be with two 15 year olds. No belts or jewelry till after you get to the airport and through security. Oh, and download the airline apps if you can. Thank you for watching!
I appreciate this video alot. Very accurate. As far as a cover all. Every airport is different and every terminal is different. Listening is ESSENTIAL.
I get one needs to do their homework before going through TSA, but TSA needs to know that traveling with a special needs person needs come with understanding and patience from TSA.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie yes, we have had both good experiences with TSA agents and sometimes not as much. While I can’t control other passengers, some of them can be rude toward individuals like my son. This is why we have opted for TSA pre-check to avoid much of the issues associated with what can get my son agitated in these situations.
@@emmajones8524 I'm recently retired tsa... go ahead and talk to us, we don't mind. If we're super busy then don't have a prolonged conversation but if we're slow yap all you want. Also we're federal officers, not agents. There are good reasons when we ask people to do certain things. You don't know what briefings we just had, so, if there's a slight change in the routine, there's a reason. If you travel with kids and we talk to them about what's their name or who they're traveling with, there's a reason. Let your kid answer, don't prompt them with answers. Sometimes some of us buy stickers to give to kids, just because it makes them happy and gives them a good memory of their experience. I always had some in my pocket to give to the little ones. Have a good flight, we want you as safe as possible so be patient.
I think it can get really exhausting dealing with rude passengers all day, every day; it takes a toll on them and it can come across in their subsequent interactions
Thanks for this- I'm seasoned traveler but it is always good to have some tips and reminders, as we are flying to a few international airports soon. Just subbed.
I’ve seen several people travel with water bottles that are frozen! After it’s frozen it’s no longer a “liquid” even though it’ll become one again. Going to try it when I can travel again.
I travel frequently. I have found that certain airports seem to have a culture. There are a few I will not fly into or out of because just about everyone is cranky, from customs to TSA to different airlines. Others are a breeze. If it looks like you have repeated problems in the same place, sometimes it pays off to pay a little more for a ticket to or from a happier place. I mentioned this to a friend. And he confirmed.my thoughts and how he does the same thing.
My best friend is a TSA agent at one of the biggest airports in the country, so there are a few things I need to point out: -It is perfectly fine - and encouraged, when the occasion arises - if you have any questions, to ask the TSA agent(s) for help or clarification. If the agents are worth their salt (and they're not currently in the middle of doing something they need to concentrate hard on), then they should be willing to answer you without snapping. -Be aware that TSA agents make mistakes sometimes (one time an agent's mistake almost cost me my flight because what should have taken 2 minutes took over 30; thankfully my friend helped get it sorted out afterwards) - there are certain rules that never change, and if the agent tries to do something against it (whether intentionally or not), they are in the wrong and you can ask them for the reason. If you've truly researched, you will not blindly obey in that circumstance. Again, if they're worth their salt, they should be willing to answer without snapping, and you always have the option to talk to a supervisor at any point. Also, not all agents are familiar with every single rule and policy, so you need to take that into consideration. -Sure, TSA agents can get annoyed with people not following directions, but it's mostly because they aren't aware that their directions aren't being heard - even by those people who are trying to listen - simply because the checkpoints can get very loud with bins, carts, people, and everything else (my friend was complaining about it once, frustrated that they always had to keep repeating themselves, and I had to point out to her that I'm one of the ones who listens carefully, but it's often too loud for me to hear the agent's directions until I'm basically at the front of the line; that gave her a different perspective). It is perfectly acceptable to ask them to repeat directions, and they should be willing to do so. If you feel like an agent is being rude (as opposed to just stern), you can always ask to talk to a supervisor. Actually, you can always ask to talk to a supervisor, period. -Sometimes, even if there is nothing not allowed in a bag, it will pulled because the agent can't quite tell what something is just by looking at the x-ray picture. So just because it gets pulled doesn't necessarily mean that there's something in there that shouldn't be. Hopefully that will set some people's minds at ease.
I agree. I had a small travel coffee pot in my carryon and they asked me what it was. When I told them and asked if I had broken a rule, they smiled and said no that it was fine. They just weren't sure what it was.
@@gingereaves4097 My friend has stories of times where that happened - one time, it was a bunch of corn, and another time an agent couldn't tell what something was and needed a second pair of eyes - turns out it was a flute (my friend plays, so she knew right away and could determine that it looked like it was supposed to, without having to open the bag).
@@SnowySpiritRuby I'm sure they see tons of objects packed in suitcases and backpacks and are trying to keep us as safe as they can. It's the criminals that make me angry, not people trying to do their jobs. I didn't always feel good some days hen I worked. I tried to be pleasant, but we all have off days!
Thanks for these. Those officers are doing their job; every job has rude people. I just got pulled out of line for my sandwich lol. It's always food. Thanks for watching.
Hi Laurie Love love your videos. We are on the same page. Your tips are practical and right on target. What ear buds do you recommend for the long haul flights? I would love to ditch my noise cancelling earphones. I hate straining over the typical sounds to hear the movies. Thank you for any advice from you or your dedicated followers.
i flew for the first time ever (also by myself) from washington dc to california and i was so terrified and i had been binge watching your videos all night when i had my flight in the morning. i was so nervous going through tsa but i remembered exactly what you told me i had my shoes off my electronics out and i was THROUGH the security line in 30 minutes. the funny thing is at the san francisco airport on the flight back i got through tsa in five minutes. it’s crazy how different the security check times are. to be fair i got there extremely early for my flight and got burger king in the airport but thank you so much for this video is all im trying to say you helped me and my mom have some peace of mind when i went through tsa.
I learned this, but do not wrap your gifts until after you get to your destination. You will get your bag pulled aside. Also, if you accidentally brought a small contraband like a pocket knife, there is often a postal station near the TSA where you can send it home in the mail. There are still some exceptions to this. Another thing that maybe explains why the Customs agent was so stern. I had a friend who formerly worked in customs here in the US. Sometimes it takes them another minute to get out of the screen they were just using with the last person. Those contain very sensitive information like your passport info. They want to protect you from having any of your personal info out in the world. If they have one person come up without being called they all come up at once.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie also tools like screw drivers do get confiscated if they are in your carry on. They are fine in checked bags. My dad travels every year for Habitat for Humanity and one year he got his screw driver set packed in the wrong bag. All three were taken.
Agree about leaving off jewelry and belt until through the metal detector, and also, be careful about what you wear in your hair. I once had to have my hair patted down/ felt through after going through the metal detector wearing a small hair barrette that had a metal clip. And something new seems to be having to remove any food/ snacks from carryons and placing them in the bin like you do for liquids. I recently went through two different airports where I was asked to do this, and the same thing happened to a friend at two other airports. This is even for dry food; I just had some crackers, granola bars, and nuts to eat on the plane. And, as Laurie said, I didn't question why, just did what was asked.
I used to work for the TSA, the reasoning behind this is to make the bag searches quicker. Food flags bag for bag searches, so if you have outside the bag, it's a quick look and done rather than the officers having to dig through your bag.
@@lilfirehawk ok, that makes sense. I know in the past, my backpack has had to be searched. I never knew why, but it was probably because I had my snacks in there.
One time I had a younger TSA agent when I went to a Trucking Company. I had my CB Radio in one bag and the TSA agent didnt know what it was for and said; "I never seen one of these before" and I was almost detained because they thought it was some sort of Detination Device.
All my liquids makeup fit in my quart bag! Both primers, setting spray, creams, shampoo/conditioner. Eye liner, mascara, foundation concealer. Toothpaste as well. Woo!
FYI: those big Clorox wipes are fine. 311 rules is all liquids, gels, creme and pastes must be 3oz or smaller. Taking a picture of your ID or driver license does not work at TSA. Bring a birth certificate, SSN card and a picture I’d ( school, work I’d, sams club card with a picture). Great vide thought
Hi! I'm flying for the first time in a few weeks and I've watched so many of your videos within the last two days to be as prepared as I can be and know what to expect. They're so helpful, I have a huge note on my notes app about everything and organization. I did have a simple question, do your personal and carry on bad go through the x-ray? Do you need to put them on the conveyer belt? p.s. your videos on TSA covid-19 updates have been the most helpful for me!
Have fun! Thanks for watching! You put both things on the conveyor belt. Don't miss the Step by Step How to Go Through the TSA Line video. Thanks for watching!
thanks for a very helpful video I will try the tips if I vever visit USa again. The tips is probably very useful at any international airport and customs office in the world.
The wallet on your phone is another spot to put your boarding pass to access it quickly. Some airlines have an “add to wallet” prompt on the boarding pass. Thank you for the great reminders. I always carry face wipes and toilet wipes in the handy packets to help with clean ups. I also carry solid lotions such as Burt’s Bees hand salve which aren’t liquid or gel.
TSA agents are sometimes inappropriate, but we still must do what they say. This one agent told me (I’m an overweight retired nurse) to lift up my shirt above my bra. She then pressed repeatedly on my lower abdomen- “What do you have in your pants?” I said, “Fat. I’m fat.” She asked this over and over again, finally I yelled, “I’m fat!” while standing there, in the middle of security, with my shirt held above my bra! My husband was flabbergasted as I’m sure the other passengers were too.
Oh, that's awful! Totally unnecessary. You can always request a personal pat down for future flights. As soon as you show your ID, request it nicely. Thanks for watching!
That's absolutely unacceptable - they are NOT allowed to do that. Calling the supervisor and filing a complaint are definitely the right course of action.
Your advice is perfect !! Especially about being prepared and listening . A TSA agent actually told people in my party " follow her ,she is doing it right ". I was so complimented !!
I figured anything that says fl oz on the containers needs to be in a liquid bag. Tsa.gov says mascara needs to be in a liquid bag. I’m going on a trip soon so let’s see how it goes :) thanks for the tips! I’ve tried some already and they’ve worked.

Once I took out my half-empty bottle of water before even leaving for the airport to make sure I wouldn't forget. Bag still got taken aside for extra screening at security. Turns out there had been 2 leftover bottles of water in my bag that morning *face palm*
On occasion I've been moved to the express lane in security because officers have seen that I have everything prepared (this has not happened in the US though). Also, non-US residents will have to show their passports as ID on US domestic flights, as our driver's licences or other forms of ID will most likely not be in English and just cause confusion.
Hello Laurie, your videos are so helpful! I am about to fly for the first time and I have watched all your videos. LOL I have a question about cellphones do you separate them In a ben like other electronic devices at security ? Excited and neveous!
Before Covid, I was a frequent flyer. Just started flying again. One thing: I have auditory processing problems (ADHD), and I can't always process what they say to esp if it 6 people down the line and the area is noisy. Hearing sound in a lot of noise is a common problem btw, it doesn't help to "try harder". I just ask politely---did you say "take out tablets"? (they don't usually but go figure--I didn't question it). They are usually nice enough if you ask nicely.
I dinged the metal detector with my underwire bra! I purposely dressed in a way that had absolutely nothing on that was metal, or jewelry (other than my gold wedding band) etc. I wore pull-up stretch pants, T-shirt, socks, panties, bra, but I forgot about the bra! I didn’t even think about it since it’s an everyday thing and all my bras are underwire. Yep, I got wanded and patted down, ugh! I now have one bra with no underwire that I wear just for flights and it’s been smooth sailing, er flying ever since 😂
Hahaha I had a pocket with sequins this past Christmas day-what was I thinking. Sometimes my bra makes it go off and other times it does not. Thanks for watching!

I will soon be flying for the first time in 12 years - from the UK to another part of Europe and our security is apparently really strict. I have been doing tons of research to prepare myself and your videos are amongst the most helpful out there. Thanks so much for helping so many of us!
Thanks for watching. Have an awesome time!
I'm flying out in a couple weeks. Anything I should know that can help? I always get nervous when flying & I don't want to do anything that would set the agents off
@@shirinpatel1148 If you have questions as them before they find it.
Little tip from someone who ALWAYS needs water: You can bring an empty water bottle with you and fill it up once you pass security! That way you don’t have to pay for water at the airport.
Yes! Thanks for sharing and watching!
Always do that, also hiking might be part of my trip.
Thank you for all your travel videos. I haven't been on an airpkane for over 10 years. Things have really changed with security since 2006. Thank you again 😊
Thanks for watching!
"airpkane" LOL!
Thank you for watching!
TravelTipsbyLaurie om gosh I didn’t think you would see my comment thank you for your videos they are so helpful and just keep doing what your doing ❤️😝
@@jonalynk298 I agree. Laurie is the travel friend I never had. So grateful for these videos!
Thank you! Now I know why they are always so serious. You are correct, be smart and learn so everything goes smoothly. If you. Know what’s in your carry on (because you packed it yourself)and follow all the rules, you should be fine. I was missing you! As always, I love your videos they are informative and fun! 🌺
If you are trying to chat them up, it might well distract them enough that they miss something they should have seen in the next passenger.
Thank you so much for this. I haven’t flown in 20 years and you know how much it’s changed! Just be gracious and LISTEN. This is what I got from your video. Am flying the latter part of September and am very nervous but t these videos help. Again eternally grateful.😊
Oh awesome! Do not miss this one: bit.ly/HowToGoThroughTSA
I absolutely love your travel tips and hacks. Thank you for taking time to make all these videos they are great. You have made my life so much easier.
Glad you like them!
Good job! You did a great explaining the what, how and why to do or not to do things. Security varies from airport to airport and country to country. It is better for everyone if you pack a good attitude and a cup of patience forTSA and/or other travelers.
Helps set you up for success. Thanks for watching!
It would be nice if they did the same.
Great Video!!! Thank you for the information! It was very helpful and informative! Cheers!

Save the hassle of the liquid bag and put them in your check bag
We never check our bags, but that would be easier! Thank you for watching.
What a Great video. We are planning on a trip to Mexico in May. I was brushing up on Rules and regulations and things I need to remember before we go..Your video presentation was SO good Thank you. Knowledge is POWER

Love your presentations and the information is so good to know. Thanks, Laurie!

Thanks for this! And thanks for watching.
Can TSA let you fly domestic with an expired ID?
It should be mandatory for travelers to watch your video’s before flying. Thank you.
Thank you for watching!
A small added reminder from years past - if your souvenirs include a snow globe of any kind, check that puppy or just have it shipped. Do not under any circumstances try to get it through security. And another stink eye from the TSA avoided.
:) My mother in law learned this a long time ago. Thank you for watching.
Pattie, I'm so glad they have helped! Thanks for watching!
Getting thru TSA can be a harrowing experience. You presented us with some good tips, and I wanna thank you for this video 😉😎👍thanks Laurie!
Thank you for watching!
You are a brilliant and helpful channel! I appreciate your tips and advice.
I appreciate that!
Love the tip about taking a picture of your boarding pass - great idea!
For me, it's so much easier. Thanks for watching!
Yummy coffee! Thanks for watching!
TSA doesn't care about ground coffee. Being all you want but put it in a bin so it can be easily seen. You don't think TSA can't see through that bag of coffee on the xray? Please...
I'm sure the TSA agents enjoyed your coffee!
However, I was busy being nervous (about TSA rules, not the flight) and forgot many of the things they instructed me through. So, thanks!
Kindness of strangers is like angles among us. Thanks for watching!.
Thanks, Laurie! You took the time to share some very helpful information.
I have such a hard time understanding the mindset of someone who would not do their research before traveling :-)
Thanks for watching. I appreciate it.
I haven’t flown in over 10 years so this video is very helpful. As a government employee, I can empathize with TSA agents and understand how important it is to just do your job and not engage in unnecessary chitchat.
I hear ya. Thanks for watching!
you give the best information that I have found anywhere. I am not a first time flyer but I still consider myself a novice. I I am so greatfull for your all of the information you have given me.
I'm so glad!!! Thank you for watching!
Thank you so much 😊 what a great 👍🏻 video 💖👍🏻
I just love all your tips Laurie!!!
Thank you so much,

Hey hey! Thanks for watching! Stay cool!
Brilliant video! Very educational and informative on TSA!
Thx Laurie. Excellent video. I have a pacemaker implant so I get a pat down instead of walk through screening, I tried to make lite if the situation and joked about getting a message from agent, she had zero sents of humour. I will always now be serious during unpleasant situations. And just get through it . Keep great videos coming.
Thanks for watching! It's embarrassing when they don't laugh ha.
I don’t joke about anything with a govt employee. If they misunderstand what you say, it can make things very difficult
Photo section for the boarding pass is genius.
I have been watching a lot of your videos! Good reminders and new suggestions! Thank you so much! I haven't traveled since 2000, but hoping for England/Scotland May 2022!
Gorgeous area!
You are a wonderful person. Your videos are really great and helpful, thank you so much. Wish you all the best.
Thank you for watching.
Agree wholeheartedly with your advice about being kind and not confrontational - you won't win - and you could potentially not get on your flight - just suck it up - be nice and get through it as quickly as possible. Complain to your friends later if you need to :).
So true; do not let them ruin your vacay mode.
This is the most informative and genuine video on going through security I've seen! Thank you so much for your tips and sharing.
I'm so so so glad! Thanks for watching!
A great idea to take a photo of your ID with your smartphone. Then it's there if you lose your ID. That's brilliant!
I agree!
Thank you for the information. I don’t travel often these tips are going to help me out. 👍
Thank you for watching.
They're awesome! You're so smart. Thanks for watching.
Fortunately I was saved from a liquid disaster by the cashier in an airport shop. I almost bought a soda on the wrong side of security, but he asked so I didn’t buy it.
I've taken a bottle of water through and had it taken away. I canNOT believe I forgot. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for sharing your travel tips.
Thanks for watching.
I appreciate this video alot. Very accurate. As far as a cover all. Every airport is different and every terminal is different. Listening is ESSENTIAL.
Truth! Thanks for watching!
I get one needs to do their homework before going through TSA, but TSA needs to know that traveling with a special needs person needs come with understanding and patience from TSA.
Yes and most of them are understanding.
Hi Laurie, Just found your channel. I have enjoyed watching your Travel Tips and learning from you, you're doing a great job!
Thank you!!
Great info, it's good to be reminded about don't make conversation or chat with TSA,If I get nervous have tendency to talk too much!!
I know; it's in our nature. Thanks for watching!
Kathy Aubrey I’m from the south and we are known for chatting with strangers, so now I know not to talk to them.
I was talking about TSA thru the security line, not strangers!
Kathy Aubrey TSA agents are strangers to me.
Thanks for the tips. My "take away" is the TSA officers continue to be jerks to the public (cause they can). Kinda sad, if you ask me.

Yes yes! That was in one of my travel hack videos. So smart! Best wishes until we can travel.
Getting ready for another trip in August. Same place. More experienced since last year.
Awesome!
Sorry for the delay. YT banned your comment because it thought the period with no space after was a link. Thanks for watching!
Your videos are helping me so much
Thanks for watching.
My best friend is a TSA agent at one of the biggest airports in the country, so there are a few things I need to point out:
-It is perfectly fine - and encouraged, when the occasion arises - if you have any questions, to ask the TSA agent(s) for help or clarification.
Hi Laurie
Love love your videos. We are on the same page. Your tips are practical and right on target. What ear buds do you recommend for the long haul flights? I would love to ditch my noise cancelling earphones. I hate straining over the typical sounds to hear the movies. Thank you for any advice from you or your dedicated followers.
You have some awesome tips. Keep doing it please.
Thanks for watching!
i flew for the first time ever (also by myself) from washington dc to california and i was so terrified and i had been binge watching your videos all night when i had my flight in the morning. i was so nervous going through tsa but i remembered exactly what you told me i had my shoes off my electronics out and i was THROUGH the security line in 30 minutes. the funny thing is at the san francisco airport on the flight back i got through tsa in five minutes. it’s crazy how different the security check times are. to be fair i got there extremely early for my flight and got burger king in the airport but thank you so much for this video is all im trying to say you helped me and my mom have some peace of mind when i went through tsa.
I'm so glad to hear this. You never know what the lines will be like. Thank YOU!
Excellent advice on your channel & recieved and i believe you're right on. Thanks for sharing this 💖

Great point,I have a little screwdriver on my key chain
Yes, this was a tip on my Instagram page and part of my 26 Travel Tips video I think. Enjoy your day, Emily.
Hmmm I wonder if that would be confiscated; I don't think so.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie I don't have instagram. I'm kinda anti social media. I think you had the gift tip on a video too come to think of it.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie also tools like screw drivers do get confiscated if they are in your carry on. They are fine in checked bags. My dad travels every year for Habitat for Humanity and one year he got his screw driver set packed in the wrong bag. All three were taken.
Thank you, this is very helpful.
Super! Thanks for watching!
Hmmm, I wonder if there are security issues with food now. I'll pay attention the next time we fly. Thanks for watching!
That's good to know. I'm flying out in a couple weeks & I was thinking of bringing a few snacks both for the plane & when we get to our destination
I was told not to wrap food in foil.
This is really helpful as we do not not travel much

One time I had a younger TSA agent when I went to a Trucking Company. I had my CB Radio in one bag and the TSA agent didnt know what it was for and said; "I never seen one of these before" and I was almost detained because they thought it was some sort of Detination Device.
Oh man! Ha. You never know. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching.
No I work for TSA for 8 years we never should be taking anyone wipes
@Chris Hough TSA has never said a thing about the wipes I carry through every time. I just take rectangular packages (not tubs).

Love your hairstyle! Is it layered in the back also? Thank you for your great travel tips, very helpful & appreciated.
Oh, smart! Thanks for watching!
This is a really great video thanks!
I hope it helps! Thanks for watching.
Very helpful.
Thats quite an awful experience:(
Unbelieveable! 😲
What kind of training do TSAs absolve to behave like that?
"How to emberass people in the rudest way possible" ?!? 😳
Horrible. I certainly would ask to talk to her supervisor! I would also write a complaint!
That's absolutely unacceptable - they are NOT allowed to do that. Calling the supervisor and filing a complaint are definitely the right course of action.
wow you are such a Godsend. appreciate you so much. Thank you
Your advice is perfect !! Especially about being prepared and listening . A TSA agent actually told people in my party " follow her ,she is doing it right ". I was so complimented !!
Oh, good! Thanks for watching!
Oh, awesome! Thanks for watching!
I figured anything that says fl oz on the containers needs to be in a liquid bag. Tsa.gov says mascara needs to be in a liquid bag. I’m going on a trip soon so let’s see how it goes :) thanks for the tips! I’ve tried some already and they’ve worked.
Maskara, Lipstick and Lopgloss must be separated in the travelback. This are liquids! !
@@annemariaossarekreijnders3608 Thanks for the tip about lipstick. I did put mascara and lipgloss in but lipstick was in my purse and no one said anything about it.

@@gingereaves4097 I personally don't like the coldness between people! I like it in a friendly way! To say Good Morning, with a smile is not costly! But it changes the atmosphere! In Frankfurt Airport, the customs are very friendly! Always. It is even on the TV's who are there. "Your friendly customs"!! The second place has Schiphol in Amsterdam! I like it to go there. Lissabon in Portugal is Nr. 3.
The most worst i saw in America! Because i was not used to "that" behaviour, i told myself, never to go there again! 😁😁 Well, i used to do business there! I am one out of many and America don't need me! Anyway, i here many people like to change because they don't like to be treated like a dog. And many little one are one big one!
Yes dear, a lipstick is not big, but can be expensive! Better in that special bag! I don't understand that whole case! That bag is to open, so?? My daughter had a good tip! She is travelling much. She takes little empty bottle in her handbag! Directly afther the customs, she goes to a powderroom and fill the bottle with water. I had to trow my water always away! On the airport i must pay for a little bottle of water, euro 3,50-Euro 5,00a Just for normal water!!! That made me always angry! So now i do like my daughter! Here in Europe the water is good! In Africa i can not do it! I wish you al the best and a good flight! I am flying the 18.10 to Lissboa. 3 hours flight. A very lovely country. If you ever have "Tips and Tricks", i am interested! I will also keep updated! !! A good beginning of a new week😯. Anne
Thank you Laurie for all your help videos! We care flying to Charleston in September, with a layover in Atlanta. Is Atlanta a hard airport to find your way around? Thank you
It's huge! I would dowload the ATL app to see a map. If it's a long layover, here is something to do and no masks: bit.ly/MinuteSuitesLongLayover
Once I took out my half-empty bottle of water before even leaving for the airport to make sure I wouldn't forget. Bag still got taken aside for extra screening at security. Turns out there had been 2 leftover bottles of water in my bag that morning *face palm*
I have done that too! I'm always so embarrassed. Thanks for watching!
Good information. Also purchase Global Sentry avoid long TSA, CBP lines.
Yes if you travel alot. Thank you for watching.
Very helpful, thank you.
Thanks, Janice.
On occasion I've been moved to the express lane in security because officers have seen that I have everything prepared (this has not happened in the US though). Also, non-US residents will have to show their passports as ID on US domestic flights, as our driver's licences or other forms of ID will most likely not be in English and just cause confusion.
Thanks for watching!
Hello Laurie, your videos are so helpful! I am about to fly for the first time and I have watched all your videos. LOL I have a question about cellphones do you separate them In a ben like other electronic devices at security ? Excited and neveous!
Connie Studdard I put my phone in my jacket and put the jacket in the bin.
Hi this may help. If available you get your own lane: bit.ly/NeedHelpinTSALine
