Hey! I have just dropped a detailed tutorial on that topic! Was searching around to see if it existed. I wish to help! ua-cam.com/video/QMa-Ewcy7fY/v-deo.html
Not too many companies would pay an artist for this type of work. Most of the time sales people or even clients are rushing you for shop drawings, renders, etc. Very nice indeed.
I did quite a lot of these floor plan renderings. Usually in Illustrator. One day, I got scolded by the architect for not following the plan when I rendered the floor plan that have been given by her. The client asked to beautify the floor plans and was not complaining and I thought everything is OK when I showed it to the client. Lol and behold. I got scolded because I changed the layout of the furniture. The architect said she went to IKEA and measure everything with tape because the house could only be furnish by IKEA furniture. Luckily I made the floor plan using Illustrator so making amendments was just drag n drop. So folks, make sure you rundown everything with the client and the architect. You never know what they really want until you make a big doo doo in last minute changes before going to print. Good tutorial btw, kind of the same work flow as my last studio did.
Great videos.. only thing i would suggest is to play it in normal speed its pretty hard to follow the tutorial.. but this are the best plans on photoshop ive seen so far
+Alison Germain: What you really want to learn is photoshop itself, because what this guy does is really simple photoshop stuff. But please don't watch this guy to learn photoshop....he's painfully inefficiënt in the photoshop department. Selecting the walls with the rectangular marquee tool: really? Never heard of quick select or quick mask apparently.
im not a pro but i would like to suggest. if you could make your light source from the window(Toilet & Bath) look like its not from floor to ceiling, it would be great.
this is nice and all but its more for use as a section,,,floor plans are better in back and white, you want to emphasize your walls, fixtures, openings and such.
Hi, this tutorial is absolutely awesome, thanks a billion!! i have a question concerning the selection: we add selections by holding shift, what about unselecting a part of a selection? thanks in advance :D
Hi, I followed the steps but I didn't get the same result. Can you please tell me where is th problem ? Or can you just make a video with explanation please ? (I'm using PTS CS6)
hi firstly great video! I'm trying to render my plans and when i export them as a pdf into photoshop they seem a little blurred. What line weights do you use to keep your plans crisp but not too faint. Also by assinging colours to the different layers in a plan like doors, windows, walls extra does that change the thickness automatically? Thankyou!
If I used the magic wand tool to select the walls, and from Create new fill or adjustment layer I used Pattern. Later on I would like to add a missing area to the selection. How can I do it please?
Hiii i am an interior student and right nw i am creating my academic portfolio bt dnt knw ps can plzz post a video or share a link wer i can see how to compose sheet with background adjustment and all Thnaks
Hi. Thank you for your valuable info. With Photoshop, I would like to render a circular interior wall, do you have a way to do it? The mentioned way is not working with me. It still looks like a plat material. Thanks
how did you select again the levels that you made a light reflection from the window? i can't make a selection again! to be able to adjust the feather!! please reply on me!!
Are you guys pretty expensive? I have a few plans for a subdivision i would like to build.. Pre-Selling Lots mostly, so i thought it would be wise to do a 3d rendering of the entire housing complex.. about 6- 7 homes
Hi could you please explain what tool you used to lighten the spots and darken the spots where you wanted to play with light and shadow? It was hard to tell.. thanks!
Hey! Just dropped a detailed tutorial on my channel ua-cam.com/video/QMa-Ewcy7fY/v-deo.html i also have timestamps in the description so you can jump to the light and shadow part! wish to help!
you can use quick select and click inside a wall to select that area, or the lasso tool. polygonal or magnetic lasso could work depending on what else is in the space that you dont want to select.
Would improve if next you added a "pass" of artificial lights, with an extra layer of hard shadows giving some fake 3d to furniture and walls... some soft spotlighting here and there... Some use of better textures in general, and... Why the hell is UA-cam showing me this 4 years old video on the top of my recommendations it's beyond me in general... ¿?
it will really help if you provide instructions on how to do it. the steps and keys commands etc.

you can use quick select and click inside a wall to select that area, or the lasso tool. polygonal or magnetic lasso could work depending on what else is in the space that you dont want to select.
The final edit that he did, camera raw filter, it was in the filter menu, above lens correction. Why I don't have that in my photoshop ?

Use any 3D CAD or BIM software. It would be quicker, cheaper and better quality. You technique is at least twenty years out of date :-)
