Never. Ever. Ever. Never apologise for what you do or don’t do with YOUR time when you go anywhere. We’re here just to hang out with you because you’re ace. Thank you for letting us hang out with you. Great haul!
Oh Nickelle you're not pathetic about chronic illness! You're wonderful and the trip to Bath looked lovely. I also deal with chronic illness, often simple things are achievements, so when you were describing your experience I thought - oh girl, I feel you. All the best to you, can't wait for the new video
If there's one thing about life with chronic illness, it's that it gives you a whole new level of appreciation for all the things we once took for granted! Enjoyed watching this and so glad you managed to enjoy your trip :) xx
Please don't ever apologise or feel like you need to justify yourself to us, this is your channel to create and post what feels good for you and you only 💜 I honestly didn't think twice about the fact that going to a bookshop and coffee shop wasn't a lot to most people - I plan mini breaks all the time solely around cute bookshops 😂 I don't have experience with a chronic illness but I think maybe because it's your body and health, you've had to become acutely aware of how it affects your life but if you zoom out to our perspective I promise you'll find us just happy that you chose to take us along with you 🫶
Glad that you're sharing your experience of having a chronic illness. Great explanation of long covid and the importance of pacing. I find people don't get how doing something simple that they take for granted has to be planned out carefully to avoid crashing. PEM is something I struggle with a lot.
Hello! I wanted to tell you that I really enjoy your videos! Thank you for telling us about the reality of living with long covid. I think it's something so new that not that many of us know about. And just in case, I thought your mini weekend trip sounded amazing. Didn't sound basic or "too normal" at all. It sounded ideal 😁 Thank you for showing us! Sending let's of love!
I also have a chronic illness and related to everything that you have said. I have chronic and fibromyalgia. Thank you for sharing and helping to educate people of chronic illnesses. Congratulations on your beautiful outing. I pray that you have many more
I came here to say the same thing, i also have arthritis and fibromyalgia and completely understand how fatigue hits especially on days out. A visit to a book shop followed by a coffee shop sounds like my ideal day out ♥
I suffer with chronic fatigue syndrome (after having the mumps virus 10 years ago). I find going to the cinema such a big energy drain; so I totally understand you. It sounds like you had a great trip 😊 Glad you were okay through it! X
definitely would not consider you (or anyone) doing limited things on a visit pathetic, but I appreciated hearing about your experience with chronic illness. thank you for sharing! I love that cover of love too! it's not my fave morrison, but I still found it beautiful. I'm always so pleased to see people reading her, bc she is truly one of my absolute favorite english-language authors 🖤 and re tillman -- I found it a fast read, and interesting, but not earth-shattering
I’m so glad you were able to have a lovely little getaway with your husband ❤ that bookshop sounds so delightful. I’m LOVING the cover of Come and Get It
Thank you for sharing so much with us!! I hope you are well this week and I’m glad you got to go out to such a cool little place. I am also on a book ban, so happy to live through you! Hope you enjoy the virgin suicides. 🎉🎉
I’m sorry you struggle with chronic illness. Don’t worry about what others think of the way you spend your time. I loved to hear what you did and never thought “oh everyone does that, it’s not special”. It really sounded like a nice trip with fun activities. To be honest it’s all the things I would do😊
Looove watching your videos, so soothing and cosy🫶🏼 Visiting my grandma in Bath next month, I live in Spain so ordering myself some books from wob to pick up there and now will also need to visit Mr B’s🫣 currently reading a lovely vintage version of Pride and Prejudice for the first time 👒
You're so beautiful in this video and you look so happy in Bath! Also, you should never feel the need to explain yourself, everything can be little or big depending on the person experiencing it. We love you and we're happy for you and we're here for you ❤
I've been chronically ill for 10 years, so I well understand how you feel. I also feel like I need to explain myself to everyone, but I know that's not true. You know what you can do at any given moment, and that has nothing to do with anyone else, ever. Thank you for talking about it publically, though, because we all need to be seen and accepted. 💚 The Virgin Suicides is amazing, and Michaelides' next book, Middlesex -- which won a pulitzer -- is even better! I hope you love VS.
It would never have entered my head that you didn't do enough or that you were pathetic! No need to explain yourself or apologise xxx How lovely to have a mini break, I've always wanted to visit Bath. I haven't read any of those books, but I'm super keen to read come and get it - I'll probably listen to it as it's the same narrator as such a fun age, and she did an excellent job. Love watching reading vlogs, for future video ideas x
Nickelle, I’m so sorry for what you have been going through. I‘m so happy for you to being able to experience some lovely days in Bath. This video is absolutely wonderful. Thank you for sharing ❤
I would love to see more reading vlogs. You could also do the challenge where you number your TBR and use a number generator to pick which ones you'll read next month. I love your videos so I know I'll love any you make tbh!
As someone suffering from chronic illness (and currently having an episode of pain as I am writing), I appreciate and cannot understand you enough. Every little things become a challenge. But hey, it does sound like you had a nice time out there and that's what matters 😊 Thank you, always, for your videos and book recs, I truly enjoy them ❤
As someone who is disabled I can 100% relate! I have to pace myself as well so those few days in Bath sound 'action packed' to me! 😊 So glad you had a great time and I too have spent money on books but I just couldn't help myself lol!! 😄 One of the books was Cleopatra And Frankenstein ( I think their names are in the right order?) so I'm excited to read that at some point! 😊
Hey love, First I want to say thank you for sharing your journey with your sickness and that you are brave for sharing with us because you did not have to. Second I want to say I’m so glad you are now in a better place with your sickness and so proud of you for pushing forward. I always look forward to seeing your videos, you inspire me to read.
I really appreciate you sharing bits of your health journey. I think this is invaluable because so many people have no idea what being chronically ill/disabled is like on the day to day! I developed POTs at 25 (I am now 32) and the amount of educating other people that is involved feels never ending. The POTs also came with chronic fatigue so I feel you about the pacing element 🙂Thanks again for sharing!
Thank you for being so open about your health situation, it is so important for us to remember how many illnesses are invisible. I do not have long covid (thankfully), but I do suffer with CPTSD and associated anxiety, so I can somewhat relate to your experience; it can feel very overwhelming when you suddenly have to redefine the boundaries of your own life. I hope that having this channel gives you a bit of an outlet. ❤❤ I loveeee Mr B's and you picked some really interesting reads.
thank you for sharing your experience. i also have friends who have long covid and i didn’t realize how common it can be. im happy to hear you have came a long way and improved!
I can only echo what everyone else is saying 😢 you're valid for being excited about the small things and to view them as big beautiful things❤❤❤ I'm excited for books and coffee shops, and even more happy for someone who wasn't able to enjoy that for such a long time 😢😢 And pls never call yourself pathetic, we love you ❤❤❤❤
This video came up randomly on my feed because I'm a big reader, and I really enjoyed it, but also wanted to say - I get the chronic illness. I've had ME for 6 years now and it's very similar. I struggle to go out much to busy areas/cities and need a lot of recovery time when I do. I've made great progress from being bed bound for the first few months to being able to do things occasionally now as long as I pace myself and have recovery time, so I totally get what you're talking about - and it's helpful to know I'm not the only one!
Talking bout your long covid experience described exactly how I am with fibromyalgia, healthy able bodied people do not understand - a weekend away (no matter how much fun would almost wipe me out too) we definitely do have to pace ourselves even with reading, watching tv, things that others take for granted - am really glad though that you were able to enjoy the weekend - I’d love to visit Bath too, when I am well enough - not been there in a long time - since I was able to go to gigs til 2am and drink alcohol….the dim and distant past aka at least 10 years ago
I'm so glad that you got to do something that brought you joy. The simple things are what mean the most. Especially when you haven't been well enough to do so. Be well 💜 Toni Morrison is a wonderful author, enjoy 😊
Related to everything you said about chronic illness. Im diabetic and i struggle quite simularly with crashing and espically when they say keeping a chronically ill body healthy is like a full time job within itself. Your doing great!
No need to apologise sweet, I too have trouble walking and I can’t go or do things unless I know there’s plenty of places to sit and rest. Love your videos and you do blooming brilliant ❤️
That totally sucks about the long covid. My gosh!! Love your videos. You inspired me to read Cleopatra and Frankenstein - i absolutely adored that book.
Thank you!! Ohhh I'm so pleased you loved it! Gosh, I still think about that book regularly! I want a whole book about Eleanor, I LOVED her part in the book. 💗
Any reading vlogs are always so lovely to watch like standalone vlogs on one book like come and get it or ones where you read outside your usual genre x
you’re such a beautiful person! that’s amazing that you’re able to take a trip like this and explore some cafés and bookstores, that is the best way to spend time in my opinion 💘
nickelle don’t worry you do not owe us an explanation about how you spend your time don’t worry. i didn’t know long covid could lead to chronic illness so thank you for enlightening me. i promise your trip sounded so interesting and i hope you had a good time x
You definitely do not need to explain yourself! Your vacation sounded lovely and relaxing and I do not have the same illness that you experience. Taking things at whatever pace is needed should be normalized.
I agree with all the other comments here....there's no need to apologize for having a chronic illness or doing things at your own pace. Your blurb in the video will serve as an eye opener for some people. You are a beautiful person and I enjoy watching your videos.
Oooh, the cover of "Love" is gorgeous !! I've seen this Vintage American Collection recently, now I kinda regret not buying the one by Colson Whitehead in it ! And your trip to Bath sounds lovely, makes me wanna go there myself !!
Bath is a beautiful town, and we're glad you had a wonderful time. Covid is a terrible virus. We wish you health and happiness. Take care of yourself.💌
Lol when I saw the title I thought it was going to be your husband’s book haul (like how Jen Campbell calls her husband Mr M) 😅 and, in my opinion, buying a Toni Morrison book is ALWAYS a good idea, even if it’s a cover buy
Really glad you got to enjoy Bath and you were feeling well! Completely relate to having to take life slowly because of health, it didn’t sound pathetic at all by the way!! I already wanted to visit bath but after watching this I neeeed to go asap, looks so lovely in Mr Bs! 🥰
You don't have to apologize for chronic illness. I understand why you felt like you had to explain it better than most. I have spastic cerebral palsy, a neurological disorder that affects muscle movement. I'm typically independent with all tasks. However, the last few years, I've had to address some orthopedic things that got to a chronic pain level. Most of my treatments have required surgery, downtime, and a looong recovery period to relearn how to do simple movements like walking. These medical things I've had to address the last four years. Part of that time I had to balance while finishing college and working. I'm finally addressing the last medical thing, and thankfully it should be the shortest recovery. Reading books and watching TV shows/films continue to be my go-to recovery activities. I enjoy all the times I get to go out, but I have to pace myself until I can build up endurance again. I typically enjoy simple outings anyway whether it's just a walk in a nice nature trail, the movies, attending a local event, or just going to the grocery store. I'm continuing to learn how to balance activity to rest levels. :) Keep up the great work and celebrate any progress you make with what you're able to do again.
Thank you for sharing more of your story! Your chronic illness doesn’t define you. Also great book haul! I can’t wait for your reviews! Also random - we’re getting ready to paint our walls indoors and I am LOVING that green!!!
Book ban solidarity sisters! I am also on a book ban. Also in terms of videos I’d love to see more of your life - so maybe vlogs? I’ve been trying to create more reading vlogs and it’s been hard but so fun and I’d love to see more of vlogs from your life!
Thank you for sharing. The symptoms you spoke of resemble my symptoms of multiple sclerosis. It is very hard day today and if you don’t look sick on the outside, some people dismiss it but again, thank you for sharing.
“Remember I said I was on a book buying ban” .. second I heard that I was like “yeah I’m defo subbing right now can relate” 😂❤ -edit- oh hun just got to the point were your mentioning your struggle.. I’m so sorry your going through this bless ya I totally understand were your coming from. My Nan has long c and she used to be so active and social and now she barely goes out and is anxious and gets out of breath so easily and the noise and lights are too much for her sometimes. She was very healthy beforehand and it ruined her.. just want you to know you’re not alone and it’s incredible you have gotten to this point and can do this ! So honestly well done to you ! I’m a stranger to you but I’m very proud of you and I wish you nothing more than for brighter and easier happier days. Keep strong lovely. You’ve got this ! ❤
The virgin suicides really upset me, I won't spoil it for you but I wish there was a few things I wish as readers we were told. Excited to hear what you think!!
I obviously don't know you but I just want to say that from an external perspective it sounds like you're used to having to justify yourself for your chronic illness, which is something you're not responsible for at all! I feel the same for similar reasons about myself. Manifesting more confidence for all of us chronic girlies in 2024, we deserve it.
You seem like a genuinely amazing person and no one thinks less of you. ✨ I'm excited to visit Bath myself this year. P.S. I LOVE your sweatshirt. Where'd you get it??
I know this was said before, but chronic illness is never pathetic, nor should be apologized for. You're better than me, I put myself on a book buying ban and come back home with about 10 books.😅
Haha I have a bad habit of talking down to myself Omg this made me lol 😂 I’m also the same. Every time I say to my husband I’m on a ban, he’ll just roll is eyes 🙄😂
2:12 What I don't understand is why we are acting like Long COVID is this new unknown thing. ME, chronic fatigue syndrome, and postural tachycardia syndrome are all linked to viruses (in that they tend to develop after a virus). So, we should be aware by now that a virus (even if technically non-serious) can have lasting effects. So, we should understand Long COVID better than we do because of ME and PoTs etc. Anyway, I am sorry that you are living with this. Just know you're not alone
I have chronic fatigue too so completely related to you there. Watching videos from Dan from PainFreeYou has helped me massively in reducing symptoms over time. Just thought I'd mention that in case his videos could help you too 😊
Lovely! Does your husband or any family or friends have similar book tastes as you? I like to recommend the books i love but everyone likes very different things
Good question!! My husband tends to read more historical and non fiction, he is slowly getting into lit fic though. No-one else in my family really reads tbh 🙈 Yeah same, I love recommending books, but I didn’t have many people IRL to do that. So I made a UA-cam channel 😂
If you loved the first book you shared you'll probably love The sex lives of African women, it's written by Nana Dakoa where she seats women of African decent. You can always utilities your local library, I'm on a book ban too and I just discovered a book I wouldn't buy which is my current read.
Adding straight to my TBR! Thanks for the recommendation And I know, I really need to get a library card, it would save me so much money. However, I do like that I have built up a small collection of books now though. ☺️
What you're describing is not "long covid" It sounds as though you have chronic fatigue syndrome, and that you dealt with EBV (Epstein-Barr virus) early on. COVID could set both of these illnesses off, you really should figure out what's truly going on sooner rather than later. You said that you're now 30, or soon to be 30, so you're heading to perimenopause (black women Go through perimenopause significantly sooner than other races, typically in early to mid 30s) and you don't want to be still going through what you're going through now once your hormones starts to act up. In fact have you had your hormones checked?
Thank you everyone for your kind comments! 🫶🏾
I can't respond to all of them, but just know I'm so touched! Thank you so much xxxx
Never. Ever. Ever. Never apologise for what you do or don’t do with YOUR time when you go anywhere. We’re here just to hang out with you because you’re ace. Thank you for letting us hang out with you. Great haul!

Agree with others than you have nothing to apologize for! I’ll also add that that’s an absolutely amazing way to spend a weekend - not boring at all!
Being able to do all that is a big deal, I'm glad that you were able to!
I'm happy that you had lovely time! Anything by Toni Morrison is my recommendation.

I’m so happy to see that you’ve posted a new video, I love your channel soooooooo much❤️❤️❤️
Maybe a reading vlog? That would be fun, and soothing ☺️💗
Noted!!! Thanks for your suggestion 💕
That edition of ‘Love’ has a beautiful cover.
Long covid sounds terrible, I’m so sorry you’re dealing with that. I’m so glad you had a great trip though!!

Toni Morrison is a wonderful author, enjoy 😊
Gotta love a bag of books. Wierd effs sounds wild.

I also have a spasticity cerebral palsy it’s nice seeing someone with cerebral palsy even I did a awareness on bookstagram in March
This video makes me want to go on a book-focussed mini trip. That sounds really enjoyable.
I live in Bath! Glad you enjoyed it, Mr B’s is great!! Xx
You’re very lucky, Bath is one beautiful city! 💖
I also have a chronic illness and small wins are still wins nonetheless so well done!
❤
“Remember I said I was on a book buying ban” .. second I heard that I was like “yeah I’m defo subbing right now can relate” 😂❤
-edit- oh hun just got to the point were your mentioning your struggle..
Oh gosh, I’m really interested to read it now. I’m sorry that it upset you though😞
I'm excited to visit Bath myself this year. P.S. I LOVE your sweatshirt. Where'd you get it??
Thank you, you’re too kind!!
Ahhh I got it from a boutique in quite a few years back now xx
I just heard about the Virgin Suicides and it's on my TBR, as well. Would love to hear your thoughts!
Woop woop! I will certainly share once I’ve read it! 💖💖 I’m excited to give it a read.
I know this was said before, but chronic illness is never pathetic, nor should be apologized for. You're better than me, I put myself on a book buying ban and come back home with about 10 books.😅
Haha I have a bad habit of talking down to myself
Omg this made me lol 😂 I’m also the same. Every time I say to my husband I’m on a ban, he’ll just roll is eyes 🙄😂
Toni Morrison is a must
2:12 What I don't understand is why we are acting like Long COVID is this new unknown thing.
You're absolutely right!
Thank you so so much! 🫶🏾 xxx
👋❤️
I have chronic fatigue too so completely related to you there. Watching videos from Dan from PainFreeYou has helped me massively in reducing symptoms over time. Just thought I'd mention that in case his videos could help you too 😊
maybe do a video like recommending books for certain moods
💖💖💖
Lovely! Does your husband or any family or friends have similar book tastes as you? I like to recommend the books i love but everyone likes very different things
Good question!! My husband tends to read more historical and non fiction, he is slowly getting into lit fic though. No-one else in my family really reads tbh 🙈
Yeah same, I love recommending books, but I didn’t have many people IRL to do that. So I made a UA-cam channel 😂
@@NickellesNook lol very relatable. Loving the content!
The "Virgin Suicides" is an excellent book. I want to eventually watch the movie.
There’s a movie?!?!!
@@NickellesNookthe movie is better than the book imo!
@@NickellesNook Yes! Kirsten Dunst stars in it. It's old!
@@randomsarcasm2022 Oh wow! I'll have to give it a watch. Thanks for letting me know. It must be good if movie is better than the book. 🥰
Im reading I found you by Lisa Jewell before it was Liar’s Beach by Katie Cotugno it’s a ya thriller
Oh amazing! I read Watching You by Lisa Jewell and thought it was a great thriller.✨
@@NickellesNook Oooh now I’m intrigued
If you loved the first book you shared you'll probably love The sex lives of African women, it's written by Nana Dakoa where she seats women of African decent. You can always utilities your local library, I'm on a book ban too and I just discovered a book I wouldn't buy which is my current read.
Adding straight to my TBR! Thanks for the recommendation
And I know, I really need to get a library card, it would save me so much money. However, I do like that I have built up a small collection of books now though. ☺️
What you're describing is not "long covid" It sounds as though you have chronic fatigue syndrome, and that you dealt with
EBV (Epstein-Barr virus) early on.
Love the opening question of this video😂 also cause it felt like being on FaceTime with a friend🥹🥰
@savagereads and @laurenandthebooks are good channels
