Shri Purandara Guruve Namaha...Naradamsha sambhootharu..!. We are blessed to listen to his compositions. He was a rich Jeweller in 15th C but God's destiny was different to him. God made him to sacrifice all his wealth and made him Purandaraa Dasa from Srinivasa Nayak. Sri Vyasarayaru gave him Deekshe and to compose with his Ankita as "Purandara Vittala".
Sanskrit dictionary has both " निटलाक्ष, निटिलाक्ष," , also i can see "Niṭala (निटल).-(Sometimes written niṭila) The forehead" telugu dictionary also has both words - niTila and niTala with same meaning as forehead, same i see in kannada dictionary available online. this word must have been derived from sanskrit to both telugu and kannada. meaning is not changed by using niTala, but the original lyric might have niTila, as it is more prominent in kannada, if yes, singers shoudl respect it.
