oh fuck yeah! i scored this album in highschool but lost it, could never remember the name, kept trying to search "surf guitar mars" bahah. recognized the cover right away, grateful for the upload!
A fantastic blend of garage surf rock and space punk rock. Love that 60's sci-fi vibe too. This is sooo bitchin' dude. totally makes me surf in these streets. A mouth full of exhaust. Shred on.
totally, I love to shred and surf these streets but honestly..if I lived by the sea I'd surf the ocean too. I'd spend half my day skateboarding and the other half surfing.
some heroic town needs to make a section of beach paved right up to the water so that we can invent surfboards with wheels that you can ride right onto the beach and skate away
basically my music account at this point. What made you think Ærik is a globalist? All I see him talking about is a skateboard that can be used in the water to surf
Pretty sure you're thinking of Polaris. The show used Polaris's tracks throughout the entire series. Similar vibe and the timeline matches up, but different band. Polaris is great though, they have an entire album of the Pete and Pete songs.
these guys fill the huge scfi music hole in my heart. there are a lot of bands that go the whole fantasy route, but these guys are unique and i love them for that.
Back in the 90s my buddys band "Los Cincos" opened up for these guys a couple times at the Jabberjaw in LA and wow what a show. Really nice guys as well.
I stumbled across this band because they were in a discount bin, and their CD album cover piqued my interest. This was at Rasputin in the Bay Area back in 2012. I am so glad I took this home with me because it is a damn treasure!
I bought this CD on a lark after I had heard one song on some random Internet radio station, back in the late 90's when Internet radio was a rare and precarious medium. I fell in love with the album instantly. I especially love the cheesy movie references. If any band fits in with the MST3K ethos, this is it. No wonder they cover the theme song. I'm not a big fan of surf music in general, but there's something about this album that hooked me and drew me in.
Man or Astroman were one of a kind in nature which is why they made so many albums with that unique signature they had...but unlike most bands who experiment while they progress it was always a cool new sound with that thing they had as band...that chemistry.
I woke up from a nap in 1995 to an interview on NPR featuring man or astroman...I couldn’t believe what I was hearing - finally something different from the punk of the day, hardcore, grunge...they became my all time favorite band after seeing them live and remain so in 2021.
I found this album at a flea market in the mountains of Colorado well over a decade ago. The cover art was enough for me to buy the ticket. I'm still here rocking and grooving all these years later.
Saw Man or Astroman? live in 1996 and loved them since. They got me into surf rock. Hope they never find all the lost parts to the spaceship, so they stay on earth feeding us space surf rock of the finest.
We used to go see this band, good times. The Mummies were another one of these acts that put on one of the greatest live show you could see in the early 90s. You'd think it was going to be all presentation, but they'd just go nuts and physically confront the audience, it was great. The Scaries were like that, The Woggles... actually Goober and the peas were pretty amazing. Didn't even know who that guy was when he got famous, I mean, that he was that same guy. The early ninties was one of the best times to see live music, most people today don't know how varied the shows really were. You were often peering into the past or the future or both; and it was real like a punch in the fucking nose on a cold morning on the first day of school.
Yeah! I saw Man Or Astroman in '94 right after this album came out. Just tonight I produced a 60s Batman/Spider-Man Theme medley that sounds like it came off this album. That's why I came here.... I was like 'Oh, man...."
they played in Aachen, Germany in the mid 90s....everyone who brought an old tv set, got free entrance..all tv sets got crashed....great party, great guys
For some reason I always come back to Astro-Man to get grounded before I listen to others in this genre. If you like this stuff, then check out: Takeshi Terauchi And Bunnys [Full Album]. Then to finish off the day off, check out: The Sound Defects - The Iron Horse [Full album]
Got to see these guys in Tallahassee back in the 90s, at the Cow Haus. Hung out in the parking lot after the show. What a group! Had old TV's playing B&W commercials from the 50s and 60s, played great music.. still have a few flyers of their shows. Unforgettable!
Nice...it's like my first bargain bin album was "Davie Allen and the Arrows: Blues Theme", probably in 1968 or so. And 68 cents for a classic guitar album. Check it out if you haven't! You'll thank me once you hear his "powerful fuzztone guitar". :D
Great Album. A friend got me into MoAM back in 1997. Saw them twice in concert. The last time was back in 2001. It was their last full tour before their breakup. You could just tell they were not getting along together while on stage.
I have recently, finally, become fused to this tool of the devil. As a result I can hear sounds I'd thought lost forever, & music I never knew existed, such as this, if my spine was still in its late teens/early 20's I'd be leaping around & getting on' down, but alas no more.Every tune on this album is a winner. I cannot find fault in it. I've been listening to surf/garage, mod & psychedelic rock (amongst other genres) for 35 years or so, & I know a good band when I hear one. Man or Astro Man fit that category, Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes. For sure man. I feel ya. And these have almost 200 7 inches (you know,45's). They've been one of my faces since I saw them perform in late 93. Since then I've bought a copy of every full length Lp they've released. I deffinatley can't get over them... I haven't been able to watch them play again. If you can manage to go to their show... go. You will never forget it. I promise.
Great album, I had the pleasure of hanging out with these guys when they played in my uncles club Tjs in Newport , they came over the house after getting set up and my uncle cooked them a dinner. They all wrote something on the cd cover which i found again the other day it was great to hear it again. Cheers.
So kicking myself about not binging on Estrus records in the 1990s. One of my friends brought heaps into Australia and I think the only thing I ever grabbed was a comp 7".
The excellent artwork on their cover is from the box for the late 1950's/early 1960's Dux Astroman robot toy made in Germany. It's one of the rarer robots/space toys you can find.
Just found this album, it's wild how they covered the MST3k theme song in 1994, while the show was still airing and right after Joel left! Very cool, I'm glad I discovered this band.
Ohhh yeeaahhh. Saw these guys way back. Then checked out Servatron a coupla years later. The days of the Great Drink Offs. Can’t recall a goddamn thing
Forgive me if it's been said. I popped on that movie Small Soldiers last night, the main character the teen boy, has a poster of this album cover in his room. Very subtle, but I spotted it out right away, I guess because a rabbit hole took me to this album just the other day. Was still fresh. This is sweet, I've always loved the Cramps since I was getting into punk as a middle schooler into high school. Then cannabis opened the portal to the language any and all music speaks. Punk still burns a red fire in my heart tho.
Not only did I love reading your comment but i also am looking for that poster on small soldiers as we speak. The last 2 sentences of your post were beautiful, hail from a fellow cat!
¨the vortex beyoned" sounds like a war on an alien planet and i can feel the death and destruction along with the suffering of the alien peolpe all thorugh the sounds
I'm sorry guys but I'm only here because of the philosophical concept of a Count Crabula the vampire 🧛♂️ crab 🦀. Since learning of concept on this album I've pursued full time the learning of Chinese language and Ginetic CRISPER science as I know only a totalitarian dictatorship is the only place on earth i can legally create such a monstrous weapon. In honour of the creator of this idea please listen to this album during the pending apocalypse whilst you are getting torn apart from blood sucking crabs
Man, just found this album and loving it! I like how it's pretty much all original material and the one song I recognize as a cover (Taco Wagon) isn't a song that has been covered a thousand times before like Miserlou, Walk, Don't Run and Hawaii Five-O.
My brother had this on vinyl in 1995 and I had the cd for years. Is there any info why it's not available on streaming platforms- and other albums of theirs are? This entire album is 🔥.
That opening track is killer, I was listening to it when Snowboarding in Breckinridge and it inspired me to ride alot more aggressively than I usually do. Probably a bad idea in hindsight, I was lucky I didn't get hurt
So I had the bright idea to stick on a video of Adam West's Batman dancing with this album in the background. I thought I'd let you all know and share the magic.
ChrisN3992 I just got here great album ! , my dad was a surfer back in 60's in California . I heard some surfing music growing up . Batman dancing to this. makes sense totally to me dude ✌
I think Brian used to work at Nuncie's on 2nd Avenue North, because he was there and helped us buy a cheap drum kit in summer of 2002 or 03. He is a great dude!
I found this album on CD in a dusty record shop one day and I almost cried. Instant purchase.
Old post but I feel ya! lol These guys are so good its unreall
this band is a national treasure
duh
These guys put on the best live shows. A kid that was in high school in the 90’s appreciates this.
Yup saw them with blonde redhead quizzing the crowd on mac keyboard shortcuts at the Bowery… good times
For fucking sure. I've seen them live a couple times in Tempe, AZ 20 something years ago. Great times
My best memories in the 90s are seeing them, the squirrel nut zippers and the ramones and descendants reunion tours.
Squirrel nut zippers!
Holy fuck, I think I just found a surf rock masterpiece.
+rockkiller124 You did indeed.
Ryan Kramer Ayy lmao
My thoughts exactly. Great stuff
i like bambi molesters just a bit more
Charlie don't surf, and neither do space monsters, unfortunately.
oh fuck yeah! i scored this album in highschool but lost it, could never remember the name, kept trying to search "surf guitar mars" bahah. recognized the cover right away, grateful for the upload!
I just googled "surf music rocket album cover" and it came up on goolgle images.
Same here, ive been lookkng for "mystery meat" i love it!
Me too!
did you come across the Hoodoo Gurus' album Mars Needs Guitars?
Wild Strat!!!
A fantastic blend of garage surf rock and space punk rock. Love that 60's sci-fi vibe too. This is sooo bitchin' dude. totally makes me surf in these streets. A mouth full of exhaust. Shred on.
+No Approval Needed Inland surfing, fuck the sea and the waves when you can use a space armor to surf busy streets and interstelar swamps.
totally, I love to shred and surf these streets but honestly..if I lived by the sea I'd surf the ocean too. I'd spend half my day skateboarding and the other half surfing.
some heroic town needs to make a section of beach paved right up to the water so that we can invent surfboards with wheels that you can ride right onto the beach and skate away
basically my music account at this point. go fuck yourself.
basically my music account at this point. What made you think Ærik is a globalist? All I see him talking about is a skateboard that can be used in the water to surf
Jimmy Neutron brought me here. Brian Causey, who formed Man or Astroman, wrote and performed the theme song
holy shit
how did i not know this. amazing
Same. When i was a kid i loved Jimmy Neutron's intro so when i found out who Brian Causey was i fell in love with Man or Astroman
woah seriously??
Desert Punks yeah
The adventures of Pete and Pete is how I know these guys. Glad to see people are discovering this awesome band!!
Pretty sure you're thinking of Polaris. The show used Polaris's tracks throughout the entire series. Similar vibe and the timeline matches up, but different band. Polaris is great though, they have an entire album of the Pete and Pete songs.
I just clicked for the cover art, but this is a great album.
Same
Same. Now I'm obsessed
these guys fill the huge scfi music hole in my heart. there are a lot of bands that go the whole fantasy route, but these guys are unique and i love them for that.
look up "flee the century"
I love this kind of music. The Mono-Men, The Mermen, Man or Astroman? they are very creative and talented.
I'm really glad UA-cam recommended this.
This is godly.
The HolyWafflePowder duuuude same
Back in the 90s my buddys band "Los Cincos" opened up for these guys a couple times at the Jabberjaw in LA and wow what a show. Really nice guys as well.
this album holds a permanent spot in my top 10 desert island discs.
Wow
what are the other albums
Fer sure
leave a few astro men
Not too many....
I heard they killed the astromen cus the astrowomen were finer than space dust
It's ok, as long as they leave the astro women.
Brian Eldredge no!!!! heretic!!!!
there are more in the fridge
holy shit
what a hidden gem
I'm so glad to have found music that blows my mind, I've been in abstinence lately
Muirdoch ard Tiarna
Musical abstinence or sexual abstinence? Neither are good for you!
UA-cam kept throwing this lp on my Playlist and I finally took the time to really listen. Wow, what band. I have to check out their other albums now.
This band introduced me to surf rock which I had heard before but didn't think much of. Also loved the band Deadbolt, another "surf" band.
I'm not a big fan of surf music in general, but there's something about this album that hooked me and drew me in.
I did exactly the same thing! I loved the cheesy 50's style art on the cover and then saw they covered the MST3k theme song on the CD. Instant buy!
Man or Astroman were one of a kind in nature which is why they made so many albums with that unique signature they had...but unlike most bands who experiment while they progress it was always a cool new sound with that thing they had as band...that chemistry.
The best chemistry. Its like they all get lost in the music and then they find each other again and THEN the song ends.
21:17 mystery science theater 3000 love theme
Manos approves of this song
I woke up from a nap in 1995 to an interview on NPR featuring man or astroman...I couldn’t believe what I was hearing - finally something different from the punk of the day, hardcore, grunge...they became my all time favorite band after seeing them live and remain so in 2021.
Messer Chups.
Why does this work so well with the golden age sci-fi cover art? Nice.
I found this album at a flea market in the mountains of Colorado well over a decade ago. The cover art was enough for me to buy the ticket. I'm still here rocking and grooving all these years later.
This album is RED HOT! Holy crap, the perfect out at night hot summer night. A true classic, I know every lyric to every song!!!
Saw Man or Astroman? live in 1996 and loved them since.
They got me into surf rock.
Hope they never find all the lost parts to the spaceship, so they stay on earth feeding us space surf rock of the finest.
Yanking the whammy bar riding your skateboard on Neptune.
I suddenly want this more than anything.
This cover art is EPIC
Image search: "robot dux astroman" for the OG toy
Checking out all these retro surf bands this one is definitely a stand out
I just discovered this and couldn't be happier. What a fantastic band!
I'm into outer space rock music 👾, a whole lot of fun to hear even Electric Wizard had a space style album self titled .
Why have I never heard of this??? BRILLIANT!
I once talked with a girl who had never heard of Bob Marley lol so you're OK. Hahaha
Felicia Mumper met one who never heard of the Ramones.... lol
Yeah its surprising how out of it people can be..
atleast you are checking stuff out ... :))))
+Felicia Mumper I met a girl who didn't know about The Beatles. And she was 25.
We used to go see this band, good times.
The Mummies were another one of these acts that put on one of the greatest live show you could see in the early 90s.
You'd think it was going to be all presentation, but they'd just go nuts and physically confront the audience, it was great.

Surprised to find this album on UA-cam. KUDOS UPLOADER!!!!!!

Hello... new favourite album...
For some reason I always come back to Astro-Man to get grounded before I listen to others in this genre. If you like this stuff, then check out: Takeshi Terauchi And Bunnys [Full Album]. Then to finish off the day off, check out: The Sound Defects - The Iron Horse [Full album]

nice recommendations willy! i'll add the Fishscale lp by TSUGNARLY!!
I followed your suggestion. No regerts (sic)! ;)
This is gold as it's finest.
man, joker’s wild goes hard as hell
from what I gather from the album cover, Astromen do a lot of lifting and carrying
They have to take boxes out of their space garage before playing.
Got to see these guys in Tallahassee back in the 90s, at the Cow Haus. Hung out in the parking lot after the show. What a group! Had old TV's playing B&W commercials from the 50s and 60s, played great music.. still have a few flyers of their shows. Unforgettable!
Rewind about 25 years ago and that was me in the record store. Bought it because it looked awesome, bought four more albums because it sounded amazing
Brought this album for 1 dollar simply the best dollar I have ever spent!!!!!!!!!!
Nice...it's like my first bargain bin album was "Davie Allen and the Arrows: Blues Theme", probably in 1968 or so. And 68 cents for a classic guitar album. Check it out if you haven't! You'll thank me once you hear his "powerful fuzztone guitar".
:D
Increible sonido! Surf spacial garage... lo tiene todo

Check out their first record... " is it man?... or astro man?"
Holy fuck. I just discovered this. My mind is blown! So good...
Man this is good shit. I'm glad I found this.
An entire album of monster chase music
Great album, I had the pleasure of hanging out with these guys when they played in my uncles club Tjs in Newport , they came over the house after getting set up and my uncle cooked them a dinner. They all wrote something on the cd cover which i found again the other day it was great to hear it again. Cheers.
So kicking myself about not binging on Estrus records in the 1990s. One of my friends brought heaps into Australia and I think the only thing I ever grabbed was a comp 7".
makes me want to walk like a camel!
Your comment makes me happy
holy shit, what a flashback...i had to look it up just to hear it again for old times sake...
Also, never forget Viva Los Straightjackets!
I was microwaving peanut butter cup s'mores while listening to thi for the first time and was walking like a camel and then read your comment.
Aaah, yess...
Did you know that the prosody in the Arabic and Ottoman poetry is based on the various rhythms of the camel steps.
getting flooded with memories. makes me wish i had my old Maximum Rocknroll to leaf through while listening
" Mystery science theater 3000 love theme " I lovet !
was lucky enough to see them 2 weeks ago, best show i ever saw in my life. they blew me away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
The excellent artwork on their cover is from the box for the late 1950's/early 1960's Dux Astroman robot toy made in Germany. It's one of the rarer robots/space toys you can find.

Heavy surf rock nice
alexander mapanao yeah heavy heavy !!
Ohhh yeeaahhh. Saw these guys way back. Then checked out Servatron a coupla years later. The days of the Great Drink Offs. Can’t recall a goddamn thing
Really dig their cosmic, cool out there tunes!!! Daddy-O!!!
A current, twisted version of The ventures, LIKE!
Awesome riff on "of sex and demise"
Yeeeeeah the ventures on dope
Fist fights on the beach. Blood on the sand.
Agent Orange in SPACEEEEEEEE
Radical!
First time listening to Man Or Astro-Man? - great fun. Good recommendation YT! Now off to listen to their first Peel Session from '93.
The last 2 sentences of your post were beautiful, hail from a fellow cat!
what a record, absolute underground classic
Surf Rock never dies
Great surf album!
thanks for the upload man. youre channel is awesome for sampling.
+Ethan Babirad and just good music
Je me suis fait tatouer sur cet album ! C'était une super expérience
It goes good with a yellowtail on the other end. Really , fish hard no tangles & twist ! WOODY is making a big comeback. Sick stuff.
Got this on vinyl.
Where did you find it!!???
The best surf music band ever!
Used to see these guys play at a local bar all the time in my younger days. Always fun.
A pleasure to have seen them live....
Most Excellent !
That opening track is killer, I was listening to it when Snowboarding in Breckinridge and it inspired me to ride alot more aggressively than I usually do. Probably a bad idea in hindsight, I was lucky I didn't get hurt
saw these guys back in 98 in Iowa City at Gabs. it was unforgetablely awsome!!!
I really wish that I could find all of my old CDs. This helps some.
The beginning of "Intoxica" sounds somewhat like the intro to The Surfaris' surf instrumental "Point Panic"
Very Surf - O - Rama. I've been on the wrong planet for too long.
Gracias dude.
absolutely a fucking banger, these go hard and a perfect way for me to express myself yo,
Thank you for uploading valuable songs.
I think Brian used to work at Nuncie's on 2nd Avenue North, because he was there and helped us buy a cheap drum kit in summer of 2002 or 03. He is a great dude!
Great album.
I was searching for similar music than the kid cosmic soundtrack. And this is really that kind of music.
saw them at garageschock '97 absolutely killed it the whole room was moving epic !
