hahaha! I just pull the hair tie and slowly unravel the hair. I won't lie, sometimes I still get it tangled and have to take some scissors to my hair tie, but I'm going to try out the phone cord elastics as suggested and see if that helps!
I agree with the phone cord elastics suggestions. I recently picked up a pack of them and I was worried they'd pull on my hair more because you can look at my hair and it tangles up but they just looked so neat and I had to try them hahah and they're the best hair ties I've ever used!

Jilienne Boyd I just noticed an awesome messy bun tutorial on a channel called Lilly in the valley. She made it look so very simple to apply.
I LOVE the 3rd technique. It looks better on my hair and it's easier. All the bobby pins are so much work for a messy/lazy look lol. My only issue is the back hair. There's always a chunk of hair that won't reach and I feel like it looks so bad. I can pin the back hair up but it's a constant battle.
I like the third the best!
Maybe use a spray/gel/mousse to keep the hair in place?

Jade The Libra I am 46 with long thick ass hair and could never get a "good" messy bun. The 3rd technique was one I started using long ago and is by far the easiest and quickest and really looks bomb ass!

The third technique is so easy when you use those spiral type hair ties (that look like retail manager arm bracelet keychains). Those things are SO GOOD because your hair doesn't slip at all!
This is so amazing... the claw thing may seem silly to some but it actually makes so much sense and I'm going to try this for sure! ☺️

Aw shucks, you're making me blush!! haha! Having fine AF hair ain't easy --- especially when it come to hair styles, so I feel your pain! Teasing my hair is literally the only thing that can help me, and if I don't use that damn powder play product my teasing falls out after 2 seconds hahaha whyyyyy!?!?!
I've never tried the claw technique lol but it's cool! Learning a lot !🤓💜

I have super thick hair and have a hard time doing messy buns. Tried your third one and got it second try and it's beautiful! Only thing i did different was wetted my ends because they're ridiculous and don't work with me well. Thank you I love it!

It's the Axis shade from the ABH Subculture palette! The palette got mixed reviews, but I had good luck with it using a light hand and carefully placing the shades.

This is terrific - much appreciated! Question - for a bun that has little fringe hairs curling out from beneath the elastic tie, can you tell how that's done? I've seen women wear this style around town and would love to replicate it-
When u do the claw on the first one you can hook the hair with the pin and thwn pull it nack towards the back of your head horizontally to give it a little twist
