I am Chinese, living in Canada. I have subscribed to several English education channels to watch every day. However, your channel is always my first choice. I even subscribed to your podcast to practice my listening skills at 1.5X speed during chores. Your content and pronunciation are so clear and easy to understand that they encourage me to keep learning.
The point is clear. This is not just about speaking, it's also about teaching. My best teachers actually were non-native English speakers. Being a Native English speaker neither makes you a good English teacher nor means that your students will learn or they will speak better English. Students have to learn and speak standard English, and also being able to communicate fluently. That's the important thing. Native English speakers with different accents are good for improving your listening skills but they make no considerable impact on the way you speak or your accent. In my opinion there is no point in imitating accents unless you live in an English speaking country and you have to deal with English speakers every day. Then you won't imitate the accent, the accent will come out by itself without you noticing. Thanks for your videos.
I'm a non-native English teacher. I have been teaching online since 2015. I lived in an English speaking country as a child and went to a British Convent school for 12 years. I spoke English as my first language for my entire childhood. Even now my English vocabulary is richer than my mothers tongue. The only reason I'm not paid as native speakers is my citizenship.
Thank you so much for the lesson When I started learning English, I had teacher who knew two languages It’s really more comfortable when your teacher Can explain you, grammar rule or grammar structure on your language.
I am a non-native English teacher, and I have been studying American English pronunciation for some time now. To enunciate words and sounds correctly, I had to learn how to physically produce them-understanding the anatomy of sounds, such as how to drop the jaw, position the tongue, flare the lips, and so on. This includes not just isolated sounds but also how they change in connected speech, including variations, reductions, linking sounds, stress, and intonation. I believe I can effectively teach this to my students because, ultimately, the goal is not to sound like a native speaker but to develop trained ears capable of understanding native speech in conversations, movies, and TV shows. Clarity is also of utmost importance. Another advantage I bring is that I understand my students’ struggles firsthand because I’ve experienced them myself.
Of course, it is much better to have a native English teacher to learn the correct sounds and pronunciation. I had a non-native teacher who taught me English with a terrible accent and now I realize it wasn't good pronunciation. Thank you Teacher for speaking VOCALIZING the words well !!
I have a question that after a year and a half year of learning English I should speak after see a short story and introduce it my teacher? I have a problem with it.
Hello Conor, I'm really appericiate you for video that is great. I'm always saying that you're number 1 on UA-cam because your contents are wonderful and usefull. You teach us tons of things in your videos. Thanks againg everything that you theached us.

Do you think,in your experience, that if i only hear englih,in 24 hours every day,(not more gramma)is enouf to learn and improve?.My level is A2/B1.thanks!
@listeningtimepodcast I am from Congo which is actually a French speaking country. Two years ago I had an English conversation with 2 American missionaries that came to my country. They told me that my English had no mistakes.
I was studying with non-native professors. I suffered for two years without any results, and when I joined the American Institute, I improved in six months, with an American professor who was twenty-five years old.
I agreed you Conner because like school teachers normally they can explain to English lesson but they can't speak English and also if you ask their how am ı go to there , they won't talk 😂
Hi Conner I’m got your VIP membership on Patreon but it is locked and I sent email to your listing time and Patron to fix the problem for me I bought it on December 2. Could you please let me know what I should do

Thanks for your videos, they are helping me a lot. I would like to know the UA-camr's name who was mentioned who has a good pronunciation being a not Native English speaker.
Thanks What’s the pronunciation? I don’t have any teachers , just I learning English by UA-cam like you 😅 , every I listen to videos on UA-cam and now a days I can speaking English by myself, that’s important.
If we take into consideration that the number of non-native English speakers is much larger than native ones, the probability of using the language with a non-native is greater than with a native speaker. So, it's just a matter of aesthetics. And usually native speakers are not as good as non-native ones at explaining technical points, especially grammar ones. Why? Simply put... natives don't quite care about their rules as much as non-natives do. So, I'd rather learn English from a non-native other than a native speaker in these terms.
If you watch the video, you'll see that I talk about the advantages and disadvantages of non-native teachers. There are advantages and disadvantages to most things in life. I even said that non-native speakers who really want to be English teachers should do it. I think I'm being pretty balanced here.
I completely understand that some people might disagree with me about that. I'm just speaking from my personal experience, seeing as I've almost never come across a non-native speaker who produced sounds and stressed words and phrases exactly like a native speaker.
Thank you for this video! It has been useful and interesting as always. I have never had a native English teacher when I was at school, and I can relate to all of the things you just said. Another big problem is the way English is taught in school, the structure of teaching, at least in my country. I want to thank you again for all of your content, you are helping me a lot since I am studying on my own, I think I want to try your US Conversations Podcast, I don’t know if I am at that level yet… probably not 😂, but I’m going to challenge my self. Greetings from Italy! 🫶🏻

Na minha região alguns professores de inglês não conseguem reproduzir alguns sons da língua inglesa.
Concordo já passei por isso. Já perdi muito dinheiro com professores brasileiros.
That's understandable. This is one of the disadvantages of non-native teachers.

That's awesome! Very few people have ever put in the effort to study and master these concepts. I'm sure your students will benefit from that.
