@@jddarby007 I have a 95 Toyota that was my daily driver until this year. My wife bought me a Rav4 Hybrid Limited, because she knew I was never going to replace it. I now only use it for camping and fishing trips.
That’s a fact the sad thing about it even the Chinese products over the last 30 plus years have gotten better then the crap we produce here in America half the price and last two times longer

@@jack03111969that's not true. There's still great USA fishing companies. Most from China is still junk. It's better than it used to be but it's nowhere near twice as good.
Name me a single Chinese company making 2 x better rod blanks than Loomis at NFC.

The perspicacity, drive, innovation and pride that the Japanese value in all their crafts is simply impossible to overlook. I'm a big proponent to support it fully through the fishing gear I use, the truck I drive, guitars I play, the knives I use and so much more. The quality speaks volumes and it's easy to feel that everything they do can be deemed worthy as artisanal, even if it's something that has fruitioned to become mass production. Years ago I took a course on Japanese quality management and it is just mind-boggling how intricate and how much care they put into the manufacturing process of anything so it doesn’t surprise me that all these baits are made the same way. A lot of the American lure manufacturers did learn a thing or two from watching this video on how to improve their processes, improve their lures
It’s impressive to the see the pride in every step. And I hope you’re right that this will inspire some more brands! 👊🍻
The Japanese people are hard-working, honorable folk. Their cities are clean and bright. The food is delicious. The culture is interesting. America loves Japan.
Their gluing/bonding process for the halve baits is insane-Duo/Yo-Zuri makes some bulletproof and fish catching stuff🤙🏻

Amazing video! I thought the level of automation in the manufacturing of these baits was higher than what was displayed in the video. These baits are truly hand assembled and I can see why a premium is placed on these baits and hence their higher prices to American (and probably world wide) consumers. I enjoy fishing Duo baits and my appreciation for them has increased exponentially. Thanks to Ben (and CJ?) for the excellent and very informative vid! 👍👍👍

I was stationed in Japan, in the 70's and I can tell you the Japanese attention to detail is amazing! It showed in their food presentation, and just about everything in their society! So even though this video about Duo fishing lures is news to me! I'm not surprised by their dedication to the process of making fishing lures! An American invention! Duo has become the Japanese Heddon of Lure making! My Grandfather owned the Kick A Poo Lodge just outside the city of Dowagic Michigan on Indian Lake, where James Heddon had his Factory making Heddin Lures by hand! Which my Uncle as a teenager would dumpster dive for factory rejects! I think James Heddon would take his hat off to the Duo lure making process and say "Domo Arigato" for keeping a great tradition alive! Sinn Fein Byrne
Probably my favorite video of all time Ben! One of the many reasons I will never buy a Berkley or Rapala product again! As a maker the time and work that goes into coming up w baits and being innovative is intense. Appreciate your work on this!!

Never heard of Duo Realis and Jackal until I bought a few of their jerkbaits back in 2019 when I started to invest in higher end gear/lures.
Finally getting to see this amazing tour of Duo Realis’s factory/craftsmanship is just incredible and amazing. Next question is are y’alls doing a Megabass tour next? Lol

I have found one Realis lure in the canal of Malmo in Sweden, that is why i am here. Great video! Soon We could see a shortage in supplies in Europe bacause of war in Red Sea.
I’ve been using the pencil 100 in saltwater. Last time I went out I caught a huge redfish. Broke one of the hooks but I still landed the fish. I upgraded to single inline hooks. Fish love this lure

US bait companies could never🥶
I agree. Speed of delivery and lowest production costs are far more important than precision and durability, for the most part. Witness Toyota and Honda vehicles compared to US auto manufacturing. Which I find to be a very sad situation... few if any US vehicles reach 300K miles. We could do better, but somewhere along the line, choose not to.
