Just got my kit in the mail for my 92 convertible yesterday, can't wait to install it!
@@noskatehate awesome!
This product is amazing. Looks so much nicer and cleaner.
You knocked it out of the park. The fit is amazing! A buddy’s dad used to make us some single din plates out of brushed stainless in the 90’s. I never thought of reversing the hvac controls!
Thank you!
Quality product , fits perfectly 417 fox recommended Sony xav-ax150 double din stereo. Very well made bezel and even better customer service , can’t wait to see what 417fox comes up with next .
Just finished installing my kit last night and it looks freakin' awesome! I upgraded from a mid 90's era CD player, so the double din w/ carplay is going to up the enjoyment factor for sure...and now I'll even be able to see the head unit, not hiding behind the shifter!
FWIW: On an '89 GT Vert, the only issue I had was needing to trim the back edges off the mounting brackets. If you aren't cutting the brace behind the head unit, the brackets will hit it preventing you from pushing it back the last 1/2 inch or so. Also had to lengthen 2 of my HVAC connections even after opening the harness.
Thanks for the info! Glad you like it
I was impressed with the original, but yes, the screws did kind of take away from the appearance. This revision is 100 times nicer! Hopefully I can get my 87 back on the road this year, and your panel is certainly on my list of mods to do. I did install the 90-93 AC controls years ago and I think I extended one of the vacuum lines since the controls are swapped sides. But I'll make it work! Great job again on it!
Thank you!
Michael I thought you knocked it out of the park with the original version. When it arrived in the mail I was super impressed with the quality. When Caleb dropped his video the other night I was blown away with the new version! Glad I hadn’t gotten around to installing the original one yet. You’ll be seeing my order for the new one for sure!! Way to go brother.
Thank you brother!
This is amazing. You are definitely a trendsetter
Now I just gotta make a special one in Carbon Fiber 😎
This instructional video is great! The new version is awesome! 💯👊🏾
Love the new version! Nicely done 417 Fox!
Finally got around to installing mine. Love it!
Mike I love this new version I got one of the first ones and it's incredible but wish I would've waited. Excellent job keep it coming. I went with the no screws showing look also thanks for helping me get there a few years ago.
Okay you got my attention, lol. That's the hitting ticket, I'm getting one soon!👈💯
I saw Caleb's video the other day. Unfortunately you guys didn't go into a lot of detail about how the bezel get's attached. Thanks for making this video that did exactly that. I really like the single DIN radio that I currently have in my 88 Vert but damn if this new screwless design doesn't make me want to change it to a double DIN with your kit. Maybe one day!
Just placed my order.
Thanks!
Super fast. Can't wait to install it!
Very nice! I will be getting one for the 91 Project Phoenix soon!
New I should have bought the new style when I saw you at Foxfest. Order placed now, would have saved myself the shipping 🤷
I want to get to a point where i can have a project car. My first was a '94 Celica. I aspire to buying one to rebuild. For now, I have a 2013 Scion that I can mess around with that is reliable as my daily driver
My 1988 hvac control are different they don't mount that way. I'm having a hell of a time. I also think I need to order that extension cable.
I need an extension too. We’re you able to find it locally?
I got some at the junkyard, pretty much any 90's early 00's ford harness will work.
Looking at getting this for my 91 coupe soon. Great mod Mike! Hope to see you at Foxtoberfest this year!
I plan to be there!
Omg that’s so awesome!!
Love it
Have a technical question, I have an 89 that I’m working on doing your conversion. My situation is that I’m changing my controls to a 90-93 hvac unit. I just like the look a layout so much more than the 89. Does this effect which kit I order from you?
You will need to order a 90-93 but need hardware kit for 87-89. Message me through my website when you place your order
Looks good but I would have painted frame gloss black to make it look more factory.
I'm gonna get one 417 but it's going to be lot later.
Awesome. Wonder what it would look like with one of the newer 10" touchscreens...
THATS. FUCKIN. AWESOME!!!
Have you thought about using earth magnets recessed into the plastic
Installing this weekend and doing exactly that. Four magnets on the middle part of the bracket and secured to the plastic face plate. Easy removal and no Velcro.
I had a problem with the bracket, the ac screw holes on the right are closer together than the screw holes on the left but both brackets are slotted to match only the screw holes on the left. Also it doesn't appear that the lower bracket will sit flush with the ac control plate so I don't think the velcro tape will work on the bracket because it doesn't stick out as far as the ac controls. I have a suggestion to use instead of 4 bushings use 2 solid blocks with holes drilled in them.
Thanks for the block suggestion but I am pretty sure you are not adjusting per the instructions regarding the Velcro.
Nice
Are these the same directions I use to install the Mod in my 88 Mustang LX?
Yes. Both versions are in this video
Whats the best radio for this installation? What harness do you need to make it work with a foxbody
Hey Michael, love the kit and getting ready to install one on my 91. My head unit is big enough where i have to cut the metal brace behind the radio. Being the Airbag module sits there too, can that module just hang back there? Does it need to sit flat and be solid mounted? I'm just not sure if the module would have a sensor in it for impacts? Thanks!
On mine I bought a shallow depth Head unit but the supplied radio brackets hit the metal crossbar? So you may have to cut the bar regardless.
Sorry about the trouble. I do make mention in the tips sheet that was shipped with your bezel you might need to trim the included bracket if installing a shallow depth radio.
Like the look… but damn, all that cutting up of the original dash…
That looks super clean, too bad I ike my 4 eye retro car warning display
What about speakers tho what should I do ?
What should I go with for the speakers?
Nice job, Can you direct me to custom Boxes for a GT?
So my Install is going to be fun. Im installing a Kenwood Dnn992hd its 6.5 deep , 7 wide and 3.925 high. will it work? Its a GPS, DVD and CD and Ipad, wifi , facebood and so much more and its a high end SQ stereo so I need this unit. Thanks
@@AADmrstangerbanger if your head unit is a double din it will work
and what if i need to replace the radio? The bezel is permanently attached to the radio via 3m tape. Will you send another bezel, when i replace the radio? or do we buy another bezel
It’s Velcro. It comes off easy
will I have to remove the dash to do the install?
Thanks for this! Are there any newer models of receiver that you'd recommend?
It’s designed to fit any double din head unit. That is a standard size in the industry. Depth is what to watch. Depth will depend on the level of modifications needed to install.
I'VE did this to my foxbody came out great very simple
This video totally misses removing the bracket that supports airbag module and what to do with the module. You can see the module installed in factory location, then the vacuum line re routing and the next shot the airbag module is removed as is the bracket it’s installed on.
I'm going with the Alpine head unit. I have an 89 convertible. Do you have a recommendation for a sub woofer?
PIONEER UD-SW300D 12" SHALLOW SUBWOOFER ENCLOSURE is what I'm thinking.
I am not an audio expert by any means. I love my Infiniti 10” amplified 100w self contained system. Plenty of punch and doesn’t take up a lot of space in the hatch
@@417fox thanks, man.
Does the kit comes with the metal brackets?
Would the Sony XAV-AV5600 work with this?
I can't seem to find the new version?.....do you have i link?
www.417fox.com/shop/17
Does the alpine fit in the factory location?
How does the alpine ilx 650 line up for flushness? Id prefer it to stick out and not be recesed ??
I am pretty sure it’s face is designed to sit flush
Why no oval shape for 87-89
@@Tk-zv5ny not possible the way the hvac is designed. You could put a 90-93 hvac control in a 87-89 and use the 90-93 kit
I have an 88 with the 90-93 a/c controls would I still buy the bezel for an 88?
Depends. I wonder if you have a 90-93 dash too? If your dash is 87-89 just email me when you order a 90-93 kit and I will include a 87-89 hardware kit for it. 417fox@gmail.com
Do you guys have a iPad dash kit
Sorry but we do not
I just ordered mine and received it a few days ago...did I get the new version?
New versions will not be shipping out until the week of March 14th
Can these still be purchased?
do u make 1 for a single din
Yes is the in the original version
Where do I buy this from
417fox.com
Not sure what I'm doing wrong but the spacers are holding the radio out way to far.
Email me at 417fox@gmail.com with pictures of your issue and I will try to help
Is there a solution for us four eyed owners?
Are these the same ones on ebay?
I sell them at www.417FOX.com eBay Facebook and Etsy
Why not just put the radio in the stock location?
If you have to ask then it’s not for you… 👌🏼
@@417fox maybe so!
Probably voted for Biden too.
Hey guys trying to order and 1989 double din install kit, could you send or post a good email, thx...
You can order at www.417FOX.com
Installing now. 🦊🤍
do i need to cut my oem harness for the radio or how do i make it work for the alpine one
Does the airbag module just sit behind the hvac now?
Excellent, I purchase one all ready from you. great idea
What are the opening dimensions for the head unit ?
I have the older one and can't wait to get this one. So clean!
Which of the radios recommended do not require the metal dash support to be cut?? Thanks for the videos!!
Alpine iLX650 doesn’t require the cutting of the metal dash brace
@@417fox Thanks!!
Will this work with an 85? I have an 85 gt hatchback and i really want a double din hvac unit even if the hvac wont work or isnt needed i just dont which one i would order if it would work and how i would install it
Not without major modifications
@@417fox yeah i figured thanks for replying
Awesome! Super modern touch!
You should have shown How to disconnect. the Hvac vacum connection under the passenger side dash. As the 1st step. To give the Vacum lines more length. The lines are so tight on my 93 i broke the post off the back of the controls. Thinking i could pull the controls forward. Love the kit
Great content , very detailed really like screw less bezel
are in black only or are they available in other colors ?
Thank You for any information that You are able to share .
🇺🇲🇵🇷🦊👍
Those that have done this install have you noticed any vibrations or movement in the dash when driving around or hitting bumps. It looks like removing that metal plate from the center console gets rid of a lot of the structural support for the console. Has anyone just cut it for clearance and left the rest of it in place?
I left the structural support. Just cut the middle off. Installed the Alpine ILX-650. No issues
Oh ya my cobra needs this
Will I need to cut the dash to install a Pioneer DMH-160BT?
Yes
@@417fox Roger that, thank you!
