- Which minnow trap catches MORE minnows!? Homemade minnow trap vs store bought Walmart minnow trap. I tested my minnow traps out to see which one would catch more minnows. I put both minnow traps in a tiny creek. I used hot dogs for bait and put 1 hot dog in each trap. I set the minnow traps side by side in the tiny creek and left them for 24 hours. After 24 hours I checked the traps to see which trap caught the most minnows. I had a lot of fun testing out my minnow traps. It was cool to see how the two minnow traps compared. Which do you think is the best minnow trap?

I use homemade traps just like those to catch crawfish and it works perfect I catch a lot
Cool.. I only use the gee minnow traps. Wal-Mart ones for me I have no luck
I think the Walmart is Frabill brand. I've had decent luck with them. I haven't tried the gee minnow trap. Thanks for watching!
I heard that hotdogs work really good for catfish but minnows like bread
Hot dogs and bread are both great minnow bait. I'll be posting a video next week. I did bread vs hot dogs in minnow traps to see which works the best. You will have to check it out. Going to be a cool video.

Katy Cram my cousin and I used rotten meat and it works wonderful. Some people say lettuce is the best but I haven't tried it

Be smarter than Walmart to the work yourself buy two wire mesh office bins put a hole In the bottom and shape it to a open and stick them together.

I've actually made minnow traps out of wire office bins and they work great ' many successful minnow catches using bread and placing the trap in deep pools of creeks and streams

Sized counts. I'm thinking the store bought was at least 4x bigger than the home made, plus it had openings at both ends, home made only 1 opening.

Dude do you know Jennings Randolph lake and savage reservoir they make the Potomac river and I live I Keyser we up by the begging of the Potomac and there's big Walleye and trout I catch 5 pound rainbows & 8 pound browns and big Walleye they love rooster tails and jerkbaits there's also big fallfish and smallies and largies
