📲 Yay! Our Pick Up Limes app is finally here (1-week free trial!): bit.ly/PUL_app 🎉 ✂ EXTRA POINTERS: 1) to skip straight to the tutorial, forward to 1:40. 2) in the video I used hair-cutting scissors and I'd highly recommend using these instead of regular scissors for a cleaner cut ☺ Happy snipping ❤
I just cut it, and it looks amazing! I had just finished dyeing my hair and was thinking about wanting to cut it!! You've just saved me €150,-! And more important inspire me to live more simple. Thank you! 🖤
flexica // I have a question! Idk if it’s a personal preference but to me I’ve always thought you aren’t supposed to cut layers into the like bottom half of your hair because you want that good chunk to be thick and the main long length of your hair? I’m asking because I want to start cutting my hair at home.
@@beth_fit what you can do is take a thinner subsection of hair from the very back of your head. you cut that to the overall length you want your hair to be, and you use that as a guide to cut your layers. layers are all about flow and elevation. if you use the "length" as a guide you can then elevate that hair and begin cutting the next subsections accordingly as a moving guide. making sure the length of the hair is even all around is a way to avoid chunky or uneven looking layers!
I wasn't sold on watching this vid until I saw that you (as a licensed hair dresser) had endorsed it AND received so many 👍. Thanks for taking the time to post!
Best UA-cam guide yet! But I'm lucky I got distracted n came back to watch whole vid first. I was bout to chop along but im not that clever n woulda fekked my shit up lol
Every time I follow along to this, I start off confident, start swimming in terror about halfway in, and when it’s finished- I’m confident again. Thank you so much for this video!!
I'm 68 and have always cut my own hair. My hair is long and all silver and now I have your haircut. Always nice to know a new way to cut hair. Thank you, I'm thrilled with my new cut.
..am 63 & always had perm but cut it myself also! I've let the hair remain straight & it"s below my shoulders for 1st time since high school. I'm delighted to see how to simply cut the long straight hair into layers! I've 'chickened out" on going the full grey, as I let color grow out last year & didnt like it, but may now that I know how cut it straight!
Silver is truly the most gorgeous natural hair color. I really hope that as I get a bit older (I'm in my 20s currently) my hair eventually become either a beautiful silver, or a lovely salt & pepper mixture! You are very lucky & your hair sounds beautiful!! 😍
This is great; just left a message saying at the age of 65 still colouring my hair and seeing someone affordable. I loved your comment! Dragging my heels a bit but it's ok for now.
This is exactly why I cut my own hair! Salons never do my hair justice. So why pay when I can do it myself! This tutorial is the best out there that doesn’t end up looking like I hacked my hair with landscape edgers 😂
Don’t ever take this video down ❤ I use it about twice a year and trim about 6 inches each time and no other haircut I’ve ever gotten can compare to this one. It always looks exactly how I like it, I save money and I save myself from the whole hair salon experience (some like it but I don’t at all). Thank you!
One thing I’ve noticed is youre great at speaking and presenting. Usually UA-camrs heavily edit videos and put pieces together. Really impressed by the amazing job you do 😊
Hey if you're scrolling through the comments to see if it works, IT DOES 100%. Two hours ago was looking through the comments to see what people were saying, then I decided to try it. The result was beautifully blended layers. Who needs the salon lol, do it, you won't regret it.
I have spent $300+ on salon haircuts; most have been good, some were awful. But I've been locked down since March 2020. My hair, just past my shoulders, had a lot of split ends and no shape. I trimmed it myself and added layers. Honestly, I liked my own haircut better than any of the salon haircuts I've had. I don't color my hair any more, so no more salons for me. I'll happily keep it trimmed and layered using this excellent video.
Same here! I have no training in cutting hair and never imagined I would get better results from doing it myself than I have at salons, thanks to this video.
I am also a licensed hairstylist. I have been cutting hair on and off for over 25 years. I absolutely HATE getting my own hair cut. I have hair cut anxiety. Trust me not every hairstylist knows what they are doing especially with long hair. Every time I get a haircut I spend a week or so obsessively comparing one side to the other and the layers NEVER match up. I rarely get my hair cut because for some reason no one can get it right. No one. This tutorial works! Thanks to this video, I have given myself the best haircut I have ever gotten!!! I cut off about 5 inches of hair all over. It turned out perfectly. I also used this as a guide to cut my teenage daughters long hair into perfect layers. THANK YOU!!!!!!
Wow I thought I was the only one who obsessively checks for even ness 🤣It will drive me insane and I lose sleep over it. I’m so excited about this video too
Yes! After 13 months of no haircut, my hair was down to my waist and the ends were just dead and raggedy. Your tutorial (and I watched SEVERAL) gave me the confidence to just bite the bullet and try it. It turned out better than haircuts I’ve paid 100 dollars for. THANK YOU. This is how I’ll be cutting my hair from now on.
I absolutely agree. Haircuts I’ve paid for have never turned out as good as when I did this tutorial on my own hair. I bit the proverbial bullet when a hair dresser totally botched my hair before graduation. I vowed that night I would never let anyone cut my hair again, so after it had grown back about 2 years later, I cut my own hair with this tutorial. Never going back to get my hair cut by anybody ever again lol
Just did this today and I’m so happy I did! Nothing worse than going to a salon, paying all that money, and leaving unhappy and full of regret! This worked so well! ❤
Girl thank you so much !!! You literally saved me a trip to the hair salon, saved me hundreds of dollars, my time, the uber, the whole situation of the hair dresser telling me how bad my hair looks. I just followed your instructions and my hair looks absolutely stunning! Such a game changer you’re the best 🎉❤
Y’all I just gave myself this haircut around midnight like a madwoman and didn’t even cut it as cleanly as this badass bish and it still turned out pretty great! I feel like I just discovered the secrets to life yassss! 😂
I have to tell you how much you changed my life. I haven't had a haircut for four years. I've been trying to take care of it to get it healthy, but I got diagnosed with Lupus and went from thick and healthy to thin, stringy, dry and broken split ends. So I started following how to not brush your hair when its dry, following curly hair recommendations. I still don't know if it needs protein or what, but I am going my best. I've watched so many videos and something about yours just gave me the right inspiration to go for it. So over 4 inches or more I am in love with my hair again. My curls are beautiful, and my hair is so soft. I can't thank you enough. My Facebook group for curly hair gave me over a 100 ❤s and about 75 great wonderful comments and everyone wanted to know whose video I used, so I linked your video and gave you all the props. I hope I can show you the before and after pictures. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and for helping me find my self confidence again. It won't let me show you a picture but if you want to see you can message me on Facebook. Thank you again.
This is my first time cutting my own hair and I am 44 years old. This was so great and you taught me so well!!! I cannot thank you enough! This video is PRICELESS!!!! Thank you! Thank you!! THANK YOU! My cut is practically perfection! My dull, dry hair is refreshed and healthy again! I cannot believe it! This IS the video to follow!!!!
I just cut my hair. I was scared beyond belief, started doubting myself halfway through, and at the end I was so impressed with results! Thank you so much!!!
Dresses And Messes How did it turn out? I'm wanting to cut mine today but I don't understand how the back gets layered and I'm scared I'm gonna mess it up.
After months of considering cutting my hair, and watching this video like 100 times I finally did it. I will not be going back to the hairdresser. It wasn't THE BEST haircut I've ever received, but with some practice I think it will get there. It was pretty good, and I was impressed. Everything came out even, and it looked good. My biggest issues were cutting with my left hand and deciding what angle to pull the hair from my head. 2 more times and I think I will be a pro. Thank you for posting this.
@@shann5331 You're such a nuisance. How about you go find someone's hair to cut... a pet... a bush even. This video is clearly not for you. Is anyone asking for your perfect professional tips? No. Go find something else to waste your time on.
I've been cutting my own hair for the past 6 years or so. I've watched many DIY haircut videos, but this is honestly the best one yet. It gives the most even cut, adaptable layers depending on the length you want. It's fuss free. It makes my hair so much healthier without over-layering. My tip is to do the haircut right after washing your hair and drying with towel, so all the hair is wet but not dripping. Saves me time having to find a spray bottle. But that may only work for me as I have straight hair, so it doesn't matter if it dries out half way, I can continue the process as it is. Thank you so much Sadia ❤
Tried this with very VERY thick and wavy hair... was a bit of a workout making sure I pulled the pieces straight up and tight, but totally worth it. I like it better than the last few professional cuts I’ve gotten. Thank you!
It’s about time I comment on this video. I’ve been using this tutorial for over a year, and my hair is seriously the best it’s ever looked. This is also saying a lot because I have curly hair (type 3A/3B for any fellow curlies out there!). I’d always struggled to grow out my hair because of stylists chopping too much off during my salon visits. With this tutorial, I can give myself modest trims every 3-4 months and my hair is finally showing length!! I feel so empowered and no longer have that getting-a-haircut anxiety. Thank you, Sadia!!
@@babygurl8105 I have a few modifications after doing this for a while. Strap in! 1) I actually cut it dry! It’s easier to manipulate my hair into sections when it’s dry (especially because my hair is fine and sections are too small to see the guide when cutting wet). And although it’s all combed out during a hair cut, having it dry helps me to more easily see what the shape will look like when it’s normally styled. 2) Also, because my hair is fine, I only cut layers into the top 1/3 of my head (in contrast to the 2/3 of Sadia’s technique in this video. Doing this allows me to leave more weight at the perimeter so that I can still have some layers but don’t compromise my density. I’ve always suffered with stringy ends after hairdressers cut in too many layers, and this technique counteracts that issue. 3) I also adapted the cut to create a softer U shape rather than a V shape in the back. So I do the following when trimming the bottom perimeter: after I’ve cut a guide at the nape of the neck, when my hair is parted down the middle and i comb through and take the section of hair between my fingers, I turn my head to the opposite side of the side I’m cutting before trimming away the ends. This softens the shape in the back so that it’s not so sharply tapered to a V. I’ve been very happy implementing these modifications to suit my hair texture for my last few haircuts.
@@JessSaade Hey Jess. I am a curly and would love love to cut my hair as well. However, I find it difficult to understand your tip 2 and tip 3. I have thin hair but a lot of volume. Do you think it would be okay to do it as Sadia, or do you think your way would have a better result. Also could you explain your third tip again? I find it a little bit difficult to understand what happend when you turn your head with the hair you have between your fingers. But I do agree, a U shape would be better than a V shape for my curls
ive cut my hair before, but its never really been like I wanted it, and this tutorial was perfect! not just because of corona, but because I am introverted and really abhor going to the hairdresser. i get so nervous. i really love how my hair turned out with this tutorial!
I get so anxious going to the hairdresser. It wasn’t until the lockdown that I realized I did t have to go and have someone else cut my hair. My husband has trimmed it once or twice but my hair was recently damaged so I needed a video like this to help me take some of the length off and add texture. I’m so pleased😊 Thank you
did this today! I was so close to giving up halfway through because I have so much hair which made it much more difficult but everyone is amazed how good it turned out. I am glad I don't have completely straight hair, otherwise I think people would notice where I cut it wrong. good luck to everyone else who is giving this a go!
I just cut my hair following your guidance, I’m quite happy with it! The positive side of the lockdown is that it makes you try or do things you wouldn’t have wanted to do in the past! Thank you 🙏🏼!
Just trimmed my own long hair using this video with amazing results! At 62 years old I had never tried to cut my own hair, but am quite pleased with my accomplishment. Thanks for such easy-to-follow instructions. Saved me $50 plus a salon appointment!
I used this tutorial to cut my hair myself for the first time during the pandemic in 2020 and it came out so good that I haven’t paid for a haircut ever since! Thank you for all your videos, they’re really useful and inspiring!! ! ❤
I've cut my own hair most of my life and watched a lot of UA-cam videos on the subject, I must say, this is the very best video I've ever seen on how to cut your own hair! You made this so simple and easily understood. Thank you for sharing! I usually do mine a bit differently, but your way makes much more sense to me.
@@naughtyangel6885 better if used for the hair alone. I give hair cut to my 3 sons and have one for thàt purpose alone. My husband got it from à good cómmerciàl outlet. he uses to trim his beard tóo. You need to hunt for it. They have very poiñted tip unlike normal ones and are extra sharp whiçh is what we need for hàír cutting.. 😊
A warning to people with super thick hair: use small sections when doing this. If you take too much hair it can be a bit chunky and doesn't cut as smoothly. Also prepare for this to take 1-2 hours and for your arms to hurt a lot after awhile ☺️
I have thick hair and just did it and it turned out good. Just make the top shortest layer thin and do small sections at a time:) making sure you are pulling your hair tight as u pull it up. hope that helps.
I really like this tutorial but I've thick hair and not everything in here would work for me. -I think that pretty layers are much easier to achieve with thin hair because the layers lie so flat. -They just seem to merge together to give a cascading effect. With thick hair, each layer is emphasised by the volume of hair and so they don't fall as prettily. They can stick out! I have very thick hair and so these are the tips I've used so that I get a really nice cut: 1. I have to be a lot more precise and methodical than was demonstrated in this video if I want my layers to look good. If you have thick hair you need more 'guide' hair than hair-to-be-cut in any one combful. When you cut, don't push the scissors into the hair - it will cause the hair to bunch and cut unevenly. -Instead very, very gently, ease the scissors backwards as you cut, to allow the scissors to cope with the thickness of the hair and to give a cleaner line. Cut all the hair in one smooth action. 2. I've actually had really bad results with point cutting. I don't know why, but it makes my hair look really untidy and somehow my curls look messy and ratty instead of luscious! Maybe don't point cut at all and see how it looks first. Then, if the layers look very blunt, experiment with point cutting but do so sparingly in one section of hair to see what difference it makes. 3. In the tutorial she combines 3 different layering techniques in the same cut. If I were trying this I'd use the top mid section of my hair as a guide for the whole cut - I wouldn't layer the base of the hair using a different method - I wouldn't be confident that the layers would match properly. I wouldn't shape the front either until I'd checked how it looked when dry. 4. If you do want to frame the face and you've thick hair you only need to take the very front section of your hair. If you have a consistent hairline at the front you'll only need a combful of hair. My hairline is wavy and a bit wispy at the front in places so I take a generous combful to frame my face (but not all at the same time!). Honestly maybe 1/5 of the amount she takes here. Good luck. And if anyone has more tips or feedback for me please post!
I just did this and it turned out great! Honestly was a bit of a struggle cause my hair is really long and insanely thick and also curly but it turned out awesome and it was fun lol. Thank you!
Wow! I'm jealous 😍 I wish my hair was back the way it was when I was younger, long, thick and wavy 😔 enjoy your beautiful head of hair, I didn't appreciate mine, now I wish I had it back Lol
Its been 7 years to this video and still works like a charm. Tried cutting my hair by myself for the first time yesterday because I was just tired to get dressed and go out to the salon. And I am so happy I did, turned out great and my mom said she couldn't even tell I did it myself because the layers looked great. I was a bit scared because I have really scanty hair and even some bald areas, so my sections weren't that thick, and any mistake would mean having to go the salon and ending up with a huge chop. But everything turned out great, thank you so much! xx
I have curly hair and I tried cutting my hair using your technic and the result is amazing! I was wasting my time and money at the salon for all these years! Thank you so much :)
I just think that you had bad hairdressers:) Actually it is almost no way that anyone can do perfect haircut at home:) In the video it is very uneven, of course it still looks nice, I don't want to critize anyone wants to cut their own hair, only the idea that it is even or better than hairdresser style:)
The best layered hair cut tutorial ever! 🤩 Did this in the middle of the night and was blown away in the morning. Got me closer to the haircut I wanted for a while than any description I gave my hairdresser 🙈 Takes a tiny bit of patience if your hair is super long and some courage to cut the shortest layer, but it's worth it 😊
Finally summoned up the courage and cut my hair using this tutorial today. Very pleased with the results! And the POWER rush!!! Did expect to feel such a sense of accomplishment 😁💪
Now that you've done a hair tutorial, would you consider a face routine: cleansing, moisturizing, sunscreen, and make up? I always seem to be going through my vanity, throwing away products that I don't need, only to accumulate more. I'm ready to downsize to basics that have natural ingredients and good for sensitive skin. Any suggestions to simplifying this area of life?
Hi, I just wanted to suggest watching yt-ers like Gothamista or Liah Yoo. They don't tell you what products to use, but educate you on everything there is to know about skincare (incl. "natural" skincare) so that you can make your own informed decisions. They also promote the "less is more" and "back to basics" philosophy of skincare. A good lifestyle and diet is the foundation of good skin health, sure, but if you need the extra help of products to care for your skin, you might find the information on their channels rather useful. Good luck!
Teresa she had a video on this but I will tell you what she shares.. she only uses warm water and then she uses coconut oil for a moisturizer. I've started doing this myself because I waste a lot of money on face products as well and I love it. I have acne prone dry skin and it has really helped me.
Is anyone else blown away by the fact that she wore a beautiful blouse and did not end up with hair all over it as well as the plant and flowers behind her?Sadia, you're a pro! I started cutting my (very thick) hair 6 months ago and boy, do I need to take a shower and get out the vacuum when I'm finished!!
I chose this tutorial for my first covid home cut. She is a great teacher and the cut turns out great every time. I don’t usually post comments but I needed to thank this woman for sharing this video, when the world first shut down, this video helped me stay sane. I still cut my own hair almost three years later 😀 I consider it a covid silver lining. Thank you!!!
After years of leaving salons unsatisfied I decided not to spend any more money on haircuts, I had already been cutting my husband and children's hair but was always nervous about cutting my own. I found this video and followed it carefully, my hair is incredibly long and thick, and this is the BEST cut I've ever had! I'm so glad I decided to try this. My hair has never looked better, and I've never gotten more compliments. Whenever I tell anyone that I did it myself they look shocked. Very happy with the results, I will never waste money in a salon again!
Just went for this completely following the tutorial and I was super nervous but it turned out PERFECT. This is exactly what I feel like I always ask for but never get. I think the trick is to make sure you pinch the hair tight with your fingers and get the angle as perfectly vertical as you can while you’re holding it
Kristin Soulliere how long did it take you? And was it pretty easy for the first time? I really want to try this on the weekend. :) thanks for sharing your success! :)
TheHappyVeggie Less than 15 minutes! I have fairly long hair and It was pretty easy. As long as you follow along with the video, you should be fine! Good luck!
I have been doing hair for 30 years & I can give you my stamp of approval 👍You did a great job!! I love your videos & always look forward to what great tips you have have next ❤️ take care
Ikr! I've stopped wearing most of my makeup (just eyebrows), I've been cutting my own hair at home and learning about food and healthy ways of eating through her lol *high five* she really changes your life!
I am sitting here bawling my eyes out!! It has been 3 years since I had a bad experience. My hair was at my bottom. I just followed this and it looks so good!! I had zero faith that I could do this! (Im sounding like a commercial lol). Thank you SO VERY MUCH for this! I had no idea what it felt like to feel THIS confident!!!! ❤❤❤
I have attempted this tutorial three times and every time, my hair has turned out great. I am extremely happy with the results. I recommend being patient and following the instructions step by step without taking any shortcuts.
Paid a lot for a haircut like this one, hairdresser just cut straight across with some bangs in the front. Zero layers, no volume. I was able to fix it thanks to this video! Have to get the hang on placement of hair and hands but overall turned out better than what I paid for. Will continue practicing and saving money, thanks again!
This is officially gonna be my haircut routine from now on. Amazing results. I never noticed how bad my ends were burnt until I trimmed it all and it felt soooo brittle and dry. I definitely need to start oiling my ends and using heat protection from now on.
As a hairdressers daughter, I was scared to do this even knowing how basics work, but I did it because I’m in a fight with my mom lol. And it turned out great!!! I’m hooked ❤
Thank you so much for teaching me how to cut my own hair! Everything is so expensive now. I'm in my 60's and still with long hair and never could get it layered correctly. I'm very pleased at the results from following your instruction! Thank you!
8 months without cutting my hair and today I finally did it! I followed your instructions and it turns out really pretty. My hair is naturally curly and the long layers were perfect. Thank you!!
Thank you again and again. I found you during lockdown and have been using your video to cut my hair ever since. I get so many compliments. No one can believe I do it myself and always ask how I get the perfect V in the back with my long hair. I always send them your video. And man, I’ve saved SO much money! What a simple money saving contribution you have given to thousands of women!🙏♥️ Thank you!!!
Thank you so much for this video. As a mom of three little ones, sometimes it's hard to get to the hair dressers. I tried this video, and it worked like a charm, even for my medium length hair (though I did have to get creative to see as I was cutting since I couldn't hold it directly in front). My hair looks and feels great, and I saved money too. Thanks again!!
I just did this! It’s shockingly good. I was used to layers but had cut my own hair this past year (pandemic) and I didn’t do it well. This time around it looks very nice and blended. I told myself this can only get better than what I already have and it did! She explained it very well for me and honestly this is the best my hair has looked even with the past two hair stylists. Thank you for sharing this!
I came across your video just now. I don't know why UA-cam never recommended me this before I went for the pigtails haircut (I did it, but I didn't feel so satisfied with the shape, although, it turned out okayish). Your DIY is more thorough and it makes more sense because the layers are there but softer. I wanted to go to the hairdresser next month to get a layered haircut like that now that my length is below my shoulders, but I'm scared because the last time my hairdresser took too much of my length and the layers were too short, so I felt like a 1970s TV actress, disco ball and everything. Thank you for this video. I saved it to my collection, so I can revisit it when I cut it myself. Update 31/12/2022: I just followed this tutorial today, of course I was clumsy, it took me 45-50 mins to complete it, but the result is lovely. No regrets. Thank you very much!
I want to congratulate you for the intro on this video, it's inspiring to see communicators committed to their responsibility and who dare to say "if this idea makes you nervous or doesn't suit you, feel free to disregard this video all the way". I know, having millions of subs may make it "easier" for you to say something like this, but still: it is encouraging. I hope all content creators were this conscious of their task (to help instead of confusing people just for personal profit) and reach (millions of people).
》Update《 I had posted a while ago that I was afraid to try this because of my thin, flat hair. Well I decided I got nothing to lose since I wear it up all the time anyways. So I used your method. And omg, the life in my hair is back! I had some post partum hair loss and have been growing out an asymmetrical lob, so it really needed something. This was it! My fine, flat hair now look voluminous and healthy! Thank you so much! ETA: you can change how drastic you was the v shape to be by cutting more off when doing the first layers, or by cutting less of for more of a u shape
Wait am i dumb or is it the other way around? In my mind it seems like youd cut off More for a more tapered look. Sorry to bother, i just want to make sure i do the right then when i start hehe
I've got very thick, wavy hair. This technique worked like a charm. My hair looks incredible and I saved over $100. I bought a $30 pair of hair cutting shears on Amazon and used a comb I had at home. Thank you so much!
I have used this video three times now and I am always pleased with the results. Has saved me a fortune in hairdressers’ costs as I was paying over £90 for cut and colour every time (I also colour my own hair now). It has also saved me the ordeal of hairdressers’ never doing what I want. Thank you!
Hands down the best haircut I've ever received, and I gave it to myself. I cant stop staring at my hair!!! I have crazy thick, curly, and frizz prone hair and this worked so well. Thank you!!! Can't wait to keep doing this forever!
I wanted to say a big thank you for this tutorial. I've always been dubious to cut my own hair because I'm not a hairdresser and haven't had years of training to know exactly what I'm doing. But lately, I've been finding hairdressers keep using thinning methods on my already fine hair, the layering ends up fluffy and they always cut off too much, which is undoing all of my growing methods. I tried this tutorial and the results were pretty damn good! My hair feels healthier and a lot thicker than it normally does when I come back from a salon.
I just followed this video step by step and my hair looks great! It’s the same length as yours and turned out perfect. I can’t thank you enough for posting this. I usually spend $40-50 at the salon. THANK YOU💗
Omg I just followed your tutorial and my hairs looks fantastic! Thank you so much, I live now in the US and didn’t want pay $70 for a haircut! I am so thankful!! Never never never delete this video pls🤣🤣💖💖💖✨✨
I’ve used this tutorial over and over again and have it saved for when I need to use it again! Love the way my hair comes out and yes it does feel so nice to have a fresh cut! Thanks for sharing!
I just tried this and I think I played it too safe and my layers aren't really noticeable but... let me tell you... I have so much volume now im shook.
After some pretty traumatising hairdresser experiences i'd wanted to cut my own hair for ages. Now with Covid I decided to take the plunge! I just used this tutorial to cut my hair and I love it! I just did the first layering technique (bringing it to the front) all over my long hair and then the front of the temple layering and the result was subtle layers with lots of texture and volume! It's exactly how I wanted it!
I just followed this tutorial. I've never been more stressed, but somehow (despite my ineptitude) it turned out. I was worried that it wouldn't work out for my fine hair but it really has given it much more volume and life! Thank you Sadia!
This is the best do it yourself haircut tutorial I've ever seen because it's so close to what professionals actually do.. thank you this really worked so well
I just discovered this video, watched it, and then cut my own hair. Thank you so much. I wear my hair about the same so your demonstration was super helpful and my hair came out perfect. I just can't get what I want in a salon and pay too much. I'm 50 and have always had someone else cut my hair. Can't believe I waited this long!
I've been cutting my hair this way for two years now, and I still love this method. I tried something else last time, it just didn't look good. I come back over and over again for this tutorial, thank you!
Sadia, this came at the perfect time! I trimmed my own hair for the first time back in February, but wanted to try cutting it in layers this week! Thank you so so much!!
I agree with flexica! I am not a professional hair stylist but i have been looking for a video which would easily layer my super long hair with a pretty consistent looking layer. My hair goes all the way down to my butt so i had A LOT of leeway if I messed up. After I was done I curled the ends.. And MY GOSH! MY hair looks freaking great!!! Wonderful tutorial! This was my first time ever doing layers in my hair and I just kept at it. Don't worry about making it perfect bc in the end it will all come together! Wish I could show you a picture! Glad I found this video!
This is the best, easiest technique for home cutting that I have ever seen. It is still so professional, while still keeping it simple enough that it's doable. Thank you soo so much for sharing this. I have been cutting my hair at home for a couple years, but I have not found a video that I was comfortable following to do layers. I always do face framing layers, which after watching my previous stylist do time & time again, were easy for me to catch on to. However, I have very long & very curly hair (3 b+c mixed) & it is in desperate need of layers to give it some volume & body. Now that I have found this gem, I will be adding them in & giving my hair an all over trim today!! I am truly excited & not at all nervous because of how good, how in depth, and how similar this tutorial is, while still being very simple, almost foolproof!! Excellent job! You & your hair are so beautiful & you shine from the inside out. Instant subscription from me! 😊💕👏🏻
Jenni K. please, don’t refer to this as “professional”... it makes the $18,000 i spent on schooling and 1,500 hours, several state board exams, continued learning, and the art of cutting hair a literal joke when you consider THIS “professional”. it’s anything but...
Well this just saved me $120! Was sure I would botch this, but it is a very forgiving and flattering cut! Took me about 30 min because I took my time and watched the video 3x, and paused it as I went along. I really like the results and am going to cut my own hair from now on. Thank you 🌻
THANK YOU!!! I was just thinking today how my hair is looking dull and shapeless, and getting too long, but I didn't want to spend the money on a haircut. And then I see this vid! I cut my hair right after I watched this vid and I'm so happy with the result;-)))))
This is the BEST hair cut layers at home haircut. DIU ever especially if you have medium to long/long or even short hair this is great for anyone especially beginners thank you so much girl very much appreciated! XO I tried & I love! I will no longer be going to the salon that often!! advice:... be patient, take your time, watch full video then start! xo
ok out of all the diy hair cutting videos I've seen today, this one takes the cake. I actually trust you more because your hair actually looks healthy lol.
📲 Yay! Our Pick Up Limes app is finally here (1-week free trial!): bit.ly/PUL_app 🎉
✂ EXTRA POINTERS: 1) to skip straight to the tutorial, forward to 1:40. 2) in the video I used hair-cutting scissors and I'd highly recommend using these instead of regular scissors for a cleaner cut ☺ Happy snipping ❤
This came at the perfect time for me, I'm looking into cutting my own hair in layers in order to save money and live more simply. Thank you!
Jen Del Risco SAME! I didn't know how much I needed this until I got this notification 😄
Wow your hair looks amazing! Great that you are able to cut it yourself at home😁
I just cut it, and it looks amazing! I had just finished dyeing my hair and was thinking about wanting to cut it!! You've just saved me €150,-! And more important inspire me to live more simple. Thank you! 🖤
Where to get hair cutting scissors pls?
as a licensed hairdresser, this honestly is one of the best at-home haircutting videos ive seen.
flexica // I have a question!
This comment gave me hope
Thank you. I just cut my wife's hair using your tips.... and she's pleased with the results.
This is hands down one of the most wholesome comments I've seen on UA-cam
You're a great hubby!
Awwwwww. What a great husband!
Where can i buy a husband like you?

Hahahhaha legit same... (Here doing the same)

Me too! 😂
Same!
Same here! Thank you so much for this video!!!
Every time I follow along to this, I start off confident, start swimming in terror about halfway in, and when it’s finished- I’m confident again. Thank you so much for this video!!
HAHA!!! SAME!😅
Thank you for the guide!
I had followed this tutorial at least 4-5 times, I always feel the same as you 😂
I'm 68 and have always cut my own hair. My hair is long and all silver and now I have your haircut. Always nice to know a new way to cut hair. Thank you, I'm thrilled with my new cut.
Wow your hair sounds so pretty
SDC silver hair look beautiful too! 😃
..am 63 & always had perm but cut it myself also!
I come back to this video about once every 9 months and I’ve done it for at least 3 years...never fails
Same here
Likewise! Though this time it had been more like 12 months, and the relief was immense. Feeling light!
I did this fully expecting to hack my hair, but oh my gosh it looks better than 90% of the haircuts I paid $50+ for!!
I used to pay $80 + tips. No more.
This is exactly why I cut my own hair! Salons never do my hair justice. So why pay when I can do it myself! This tutorial is the best out there that doesn’t end up looking like I hacked my hair with landscape edgers 😂
Yes! I think once we get over the fear of ruining our beauty, it's very liberating to take control of the reins and learn to DIY.
Me Too!
Same here. Looks amazing and better than most haircuts I’ve had. Done this twice now, and got better at it (braver lol) the second time.
Don’t ever take this video down ❤
I use it about twice a year and trim about 6 inches each time and no other haircut I’ve ever gotten can compare to this one. It always looks exactly how I like it, I save money and I save myself from the whole hair salon experience (some like it but I don’t at all). Thank you!
❤
One thing I’ve noticed is youre great at speaking and presenting. Usually UA-camrs heavily edit videos and put pieces together. Really impressed by the amazing job you do 😊
As a hairstylist of over 20 years , I commend you for your technique. It turned out beautifully
Been cutting my hair to this tutorial since it was published. This has saved me money on salon visits! Mission accomplished 🙆🏻
I’m fixing to do mine now! I’m nervous and excited! May I be as blessed as you with success! God bless you!💙xo
I don't trust anyone with my hair....I like layered, but hairdressers don't know what that means....
That's so sweet, that reminds me of my mother when she cut my hair as a teen and kid too haha ❤️
Wow I thought I was the only one who obsessively checks for even ness 🤣It will drive me insane and I lose sleep over it. I’m so excited about this video too
Angelbeeds ~ thank you for this post! Along with the lovely creator of this video, you've inspired me to try this. :-)
@@Seal_pup People are brainwashed into thinking that the average person is not capable of cutting their own hair.

Lol Me too!! Turned out really good, despite the late decision to go ahead with it
I have to tell you how much you changed my life.
I want to see ur before and after pics What is ur fb ID?
Great job! I am a hairdresser and I think you're doing a great job
Aw what a compliment - thank you! :D
same here! it's exactly what we do a little less exact but more or less the same cut and the same effect. Beautiful!
Awe!
Courtney Lindsay not really i would never dare to cut my hair eventhough i am inspired. I suck on it. Not everyone can do this 😝
Unusual Practical life If I wanted this cut in a salon, what do I say? Is there a name for it?
This is my first time cutting my own hair and I am 44 years old. This was so great and you taught me so well!!! I cannot thank you enough! This video is PRICELESS!!!! Thank you! Thank you!! THANK YOU! My cut is practically perfection! My dull, dry hair is refreshed and healthy again! I cannot believe it! This IS the video to follow!!!!
I just cut my hair. I was scared beyond belief, started doubting myself halfway through, and at the end I was so impressed with results! Thank you so much!!!

Having the same issue I am not sure which angle from the head to cut the bottom part, been stuck for weeks because of this.....

Thank you!
Even with thick hair, do you only do the two layers?
It’s about time I comment on this video. I’ve been using this tutorial for over a year, and my hair is seriously the best it’s ever looked. This is also saying a lot because I have curly hair (type 3A/3B for any fellow curlies out there!). I’d always struggled to grow out my hair because of stylists chopping too much off during my salon visits. With this tutorial, I can give myself modest trims every 3-4 months and my hair is finally showing length!! I feel so empowered and no longer have that getting-a-haircut anxiety. Thank you, Sadia!!
Is there anything specific you do differently at all? I assume you cut it wet right? I'm tempted but scared lol
@@JessSaade thank you! This was very helpful. I also have thin & fine 3A/3B hair and I’m about to follow this tutorial.
ive cut my hair before, but its never really been like I wanted it, and this tutorial was perfect! not just because of corona, but because I am introverted and really abhor going to the hairdresser. i get so nervous. i really love how my hair turned out with this tutorial!
I feel like that too. I'd rather take my chance on this.
Yup, fellow introvert. Hate the salon.
I get so anxious going to the hairdresser. It wasn’t until the lockdown that I realized I did t have to go and have someone else cut my hair. My husband has trimmed it once or twice but my hair was recently damaged so I needed a video like this to help me take some of the length off and add texture. I’m so pleased😊 Thank you
heyy,
I tried cutting my hair by myself for the first time today and and and this is the happiest I've felt in 2021. Thanks for this video :))
It's 1am and I just finished cutting my hair, and SAME. Also, saved $50.
Did you cut it as the same guide?
did this today! I was so close to giving up halfway through because I have so much hair which made it much more difficult but everyone is amazed how good it turned out. I am glad I don't have completely straight hair, otherwise I think people would notice where I cut it wrong. good luck to everyone else who is giving this a go!
It's been seven years and I still come back to this tutorial twice a year, it's just perfect for me :)
I just cut my hair like this and honestly it’s one of the best haircuts I’ve gotten in a long time. Thank you so much for posting this!

What a compliment, Debra - thank you and hope you enjoy it the same if you give it a try :D
Debra Baker Stephens I was just about to comment that
100% agree!
Is it possible to use any type of scissors or must they be for hair only ? (I don't know where to buy them ) ??
Fox Bear I have thick hair and tried this but it really turned out horrible, do you have any tips for me?
I have thick hair and just did it and it turned out good. Just make the top shortest layer thin and do small sections at a time:) making sure you are pulling your hair tight as u pull it up. hope that helps.
Omg same. My hair is very thick and it turns out horrible too. If i balance it with trimming, it looks even weird.
Fox Bear - I don't think it has to take that long. I had long hair, cut a significant amount off and it only took about 30 - 40 mins.
I just did this and it turned out great! Honestly was a bit of a struggle cause my hair is really long and insanely thick and also curly but it turned out awesome and it was fun lol. Thank you!

Did you cut it with your naturally curly hair or did you straighten it?
I was wondering this also
My hair is naturally wavy so I cut it wet to straighten it while cutting.
Got me closer to the haircut I wanted for a while than any description I gave my hairdresser 🙈 Takes a tiny bit of patience if your hair is super long and some courage to cut the shortest layer, but it's worth it 😊
Man you're smiling doing this while I'm over here raging trying to make the parts stay separate. My arms are so tired
😫
She's been doing this for five years. Don't be too hard on yourself!
You need a rat comb. That small skinny comb gets the parts straight easily
Theresa Hicks she has a video about this. 😊
I feel the same way😊! I use this video about every 6-8 months❤️❤️
I feel a bad decision coming
As a hairdresser, this is an amazing tutorial
I thought the same thing when I tried it but it turned out good! :) Don’t be discouraged. You will do fine.
Me too 😂
I've got a brand new pair of scissors and a comb staring at me 👀✂️💇♀️
I follow her and decided to use her method when I wanted to do my hair. It came out better than my hairdresser who just could never get it right.
Just went for this completely following the tutorial and I was super nervous but it turned out PERFECT. This is exactly what I feel like I always ask for but never get. I think the trick is to make sure you pinch the hair tight with your fingers and get the angle as perfectly vertical as you can while you’re holding it
I cut my hair immediately after watching this & it turned out great!
Oh no way! So happy to read this, Kristin :D

Don't fight with your mom. Ever! Now go make up with her and say sorry.
@@MsBibiMunecaNo, you should fight with your mom when it feels necessary, and then make up, forgive and move on.
@@MsBibiMunecahow do you know it isn’t her mum who should be saying sorry?
Thank you so much for teaching me how to cut my own hair! Everything is so expensive now. I'm in my 60's and still with long hair and never could get it layered correctly. I'm very pleased at the results from following your instruction! Thank you!
You have that content which is quite rare on UA-cam... 👍🏻
8 months without cutting my hair and today I finally did it! I followed your instructions and it turns out really pretty. My hair is naturally curly and the long layers were perfect. Thank you!!
I’ve been cutting my hair like this for the last 3 years, I’m so grateful this video exists☀️ Thank you
Thank you again and again. I found you during lockdown and have been using your video to cut my hair ever since.
I get so many compliments. No one can believe I do it myself and always ask how I get the perfect V in the back with my long hair. I always send them your video.
And man, I’ve saved SO much money!
What a simple money saving contribution you have given to thousands of women!🙏♥️
Thank you!!!
So happy to read this - thanks for sharing, Damiana ❤
Pick Up Limes I want to cut your hair ...it is possible..
》Update《
I had posted a while ago that I was afraid to try this because of my thin, flat hair.
JustJaryn welp, i have thick hair ._. (not too thick)
PSA
I just used this tutorial today - the best tutorial hands down! Very clear and easy to follow. My hair turned out amazing!
I just followed this tutorial. I've never been more stressed, but somehow (despite my ineptitude) it turned out. I was worried that it wouldn't work out for my fine hair but it really has given it much more volume and life! Thank you Sadia!
Every 6 months I breathe a sigh of relief that this video is still around. Been serving me well and saved probably $500 by now. Here we go again!
Same!
I cut my hair myself for the very first time and I'm AMAZED!!! Turned out exactly like I wanted with zero costs💗💋
Sadia, this came at the perfect time! I trimmed my own hair for the first time back in February, but wanted to try cutting it in layers this week! Thank you so so much!!
Love it when that happens! Happy snipping, Juliette :D
Agreed! I'm just looking into doing this myself. I'll definitely try it out this weekend.
Jen Del Risco Yes, I'm trying it this weekend myself! So excited!! Good luck with yours!
The best method I’ve ever tried at home!! I’ve always messed my hair up at home and this was super easy and turned out great
Is there anything you don't know how to do, Sadia? Your hair is gorgeous!
Next up is for the "short hair don't care" like you had the courage to do, Nisha ;)
hehe, except i would never have the courage to do it myself lol
Would like to know what kind of cissor do you use in the video ? Thank you
Yes , How to be a practicing muslim?
Who said she is one?
Yayyy!! ❤
I got a terrible hair cut 3 months ago and I cried I watched your video cut my own hair and I fixed it! Thank you so so much!!!
I've been using this tutorial for a year now, I trim my hair every month and the results are amazing 😍💇
This is the BEST hair cut layers at home haircut. DIU ever especially if you have medium to long/long or even short hair this is great for anyone especially beginners thank you so much girl very much appreciated! XO I tried & I love! I will no longer be going to the salon that often!! advice:... be patient, take your time, watch full video then start! xo
I just followed your tutorial after messing it up myself and THIS WAS A LIFESAVER THANK YOU. I love my new haircut! You saved my hair!! ✨✨✨
The flipping hair in the front-ponytail thing ruined my hair several times. This is perfect! Thank you so much
ok out of all the diy hair cutting videos I've seen today, this one takes the cake. I actually trust you more because your hair actually looks healthy lol.
I had this video saved for 6 years and finally had the courage to do it. It turned out amazing!! Thanks so much for this easy tutorial
