Aloha from the Big Island 🤙🏼
Mahalo for posting 🌴🏝️
Aloha! Until recently I called the waters of
O’ahu home. This is one of the gems I found exploring the local thrift shops. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
this is amazing, thank you! will be in Waikiki again in a few weeks. Magical place, magical music.
Waikiki, and the islands in whole, are truly magical place. How many times have you visited? For many years I called the waters around O’ahu my home and it seemed every day I would discover something new.
First day back at work after 10 days in Maui. Great post.
Music is a great way to keep those feeling alive and experiences fresh.
This is a fun listen on the back porch at dusk in middle America. Think the birds like it too. : )
🌊🎶 Hi @MsMiguel70! Delighted to hear the birds are enjoying the tunes right along with you! If you’re in the mood for more enchanting sounds to fill your evenings, check out “From Airlines to Soundscapes: The Wonderful World of Aloha” and “Dive Into Tradition: Exploring ‘Hawaii Calls’ and Hawaiian Music.” Both will bring a little more of the island spirit to your back porch as the sun sets. Happy listening and say hello to the birds for me! 🌅🐦🎶
@@FinnleysAudioAdventures Right on. I’m listening to this again now, in my car during a thunderstorm. Parked. Birds under limbs I’d suppose. I’ll check out the suggestions.
I’ve never been to Hawaii but might have been conceived there. Hardly seems fair. No surfing, luaus, buffets. : )

Very nice album - lovely clear reproduction, and I've never heard it before! There seems to be two separate combos which play alternate tracks to each other, one of which I can identify [by their sound/style] as The Surfmen, a group of musicians who made a few other albums around the early 1960s. Unfortunately, I have no idea of the identity of either of the two steel guitar players. Are there any details of personnel on the back of the sleeve by any chance?
I’m happy to hear how much you enjoyed it. This is part of a series on budget records. This one came from Wyncote, part of Cameo Parkway. Unfortunately the sleeve was focused more on the recording process rather than the musician. Also it was typical to use studio or session musicians and vocalist to record these type of records [see Yuletide Disco].
I did a more comprehensive write-up at finnley.audio/2024/03/23/tropical-tunes-and-technological-turns-the-story-of-hawaiian-holiday/
Thanks for the link. As you say, both groups were most likely session/studio musicians and we will never know the identity of personnel - so often the case with Hawaiian related albums. Especially infuriating when you are a steel guitar player yourself, as I am!@@FinnleysAudioAdventures
That is one thing I miss about living on Oahu is going through the thrift stores and finding all the records. My spouse worked at a resort hotel on the west side and would book local talent to play there. We ended up with the CDs they produced.
I wish it was possible to find more production information on some of the records I feature. The Pan Am record is another example of one where it would be great to list the talent behind the songs. Aside from the obvious two at the end.
You'll have some very scarce, limited editions, recorded in the Islands I expect. Perhaps there may be more information on personnel with some of these, rather than the more commercially produced items!@@FinnleysAudioAdventures
