Awesome video! You just gave me the destination for the maiden voyage of my Hobie PA 14 360 that I am picking up this weekend. They have installed my running light and Garmin UHD ecomap fish finder and I am beyond excited. Thanks for the video and the inspiration on where to launch first
I dont think it was anchovies, probably mackerel I was using. I dont buy it garlic flavored, I do that myself. I cut it up into chunks add powdered garlic in a ziplock and shake it up. Works really well 🤘
Those stripers are good eating to no size limit there just a 10bag limit on stripers there but great eating once again just be careful on the consumption of them from there the Mercury levels are pretty high
I usually have good luck fishing for cats there during daytime on dropoffs. The cats tend to go deeper during the heat of the day. Where I typically fish is just off the shoreline just north east of the marina and the public fishing dock. Theres a real nice dropoff there 🤘
Awesome video! That was a nice cat! I'm here all week but no luck yet shore fishing is pretty brutal here! A lot of rocks and plants! You know any good shore spots?
Daniel Rodrigues thanks!! Right now its tough due to all the weeds that grow during summer. The fish are usually right on the outter edge of the weed beds as the bait fish hide in the weeds. So Ideally you want to get your bait near the edge of the weeds without getting in the weeds if that makes sense. I saw a bunch of spots two weeks ago that were fishable from shore down in miller canyon. Walk down past the hydro plant, from that point there are several areas that were pretty weed free all the way down to the 2 marker buoys that stop power boats from going further into the canyon. Where the 2 marker buoys are is where the really thick weeds start so stay between the hydro plant and the buoys and you should find some fishable spots. Let me know if that works 🤘
@@SeaSpankerOutdoors thanks! Were trying to find a happy medium because the wifey wants to be able to swim with the kids! And of course I want to fish! Lol I'm on the boat docks right now but still no luck! Uhh lol were still trying to learn the lake layout out its kinda of all over the place here! Very confusing when it comes to directions compared to other lakes ive been too! And far from camp sites which kinda sucks as well!
Daniel Rodrigues yeah, im still learning the lake myself. I would even try the swim beach in the late afternoon early evening. Once the swimmers leave the fish will come back into the area.
@@SeaSpankerOutdoors ya the swim beach is perfect for fishing no rocks or plants and it plunges quickly but super crowded! I didn't think you could fish the swim beach! Ya it a big lake compared to other lakes i fish! But I think this lake is like diamond valley and is better for boat fishing!
Daniel Rodrigues yeah it definitely helps to have a boat in summer. In winter you dont have to contend with all the weeds and the swimming and it makes shore fishing much easier.
Mike Moravec i just use granulated garlic. The same seasoning you would use to cook with. I pour some in a ziplock with the fish and shake it up so it coats all the pieces. If you look on my channel I have a video on how my kayaks set up. I did it a year or so ago but Its still set up the same way 🤘
Stripers tend to school up and move around alot so there aren’t any real set spots. Im not much of a striper fisherman but im planning on going out there soon and see what I can figure out. What lots of guys do is troll and then watch for surface activity(stripers feeding on the surface). When this happens use a large spoon, rapala, or big jig and throw at the boil. Otherwise you can catch the smaller ones using cut anchovy on a carolina or dropshot rig but you still need to find where they are that day
ilove nico I just cut the mackerel into about 1” squares and use either a 1/0 circle hook or a #1 hook and no weight if im in the yak. If im on shore ill throw a weight on but I try to keep it as little as possible to get the casting distance that I want.
@@SMOKYY_DA_BEAR92 haha yeah I was out there a couple weeks ago and didnt get a bite. Trout should pick up pretty soon once the colder weather becomes more consistent
Chadric Richardson Im still learning the lake myself so I haven’t identified solid “hot spots” yet. Where I have been doing the best is along the east shore of cleghorn across from the swim beach. I try to look for steep drop offs where it gets really deep really quick and those areas seem to produce. Also, they have been biting early. Once it gets close to noon it gets hot and the bite shuts down. Hope that helps 🤘
SeaSpanker Outdoors thanks. Early as in the bite is hot during the morning? And have you had any luck near damn area and how deep would you say it is? Thanks for getting back to me
Chadric Richardson Im just sayin all the fish ive caught there lately have been in the morning, by the time it gets to about noon the bite seems to shut down. I still have yet to fish the dam but its on my list. I know its deep but i dont know how deep haha
Chadric Richardson as I remember, in front of the docks its about 70’ and once you get into the middle of cleghorn its around 50’. I would start along the rocky shore across from the marina. There is a steep drop off and it seems the cats come up there in the morning to feed. When it gets hot around noon they go back deep. At least it seems that way.

GENERALLY SPEAKING outstanding!! Let me know how you do.
Nice video. Were did you get garlic frozen anchovies from? Happy fishing 🎣

Hell yeah brother 🤘 them hogs are fun one light tackle!!
Yes they are! Those cats can be a real good time!

Yeah thats what I hear. Im just trying to get through the fish I still have in my drop freezer
And I thought I was the only one who kayak fished Silverwood. Good video.
Thinking about getting the into kayak fishing again and hitting up some freshwater. Why do you think there are so little people that kayak fish here?
@@p3teytran Not too sure. Maybe it’s the distance or the constant threat of high winds. I personally love kayak fishing that lake.
@@DaveysWorldFishing yea having been there shore fishing twice, I def see it being enjoyable to kayak fish there
Good job with the catfish. Where is the best spot to fish off there for the catfish

Nice video! Going out on my tube tomorrow, havent been there since march.
Tyler Sandoval thanks! Well there are alot of weeds in the coves since march, but if you are on a tube you should be good to go 🤘
Nice day out there, where do you normally launch from?
I always launch off the main ramp. I haven’t launched at cleghorn yet.

What are you using for bait bro ? I'm headed there soon.
In this one I believe I was using cut mackinaw with garlic but I hear they are doin real well right now using frozen anchovies 🤘
A guy lost his hand in a jet ski accident there about a month ago we were at the marina and they screamed call 911 crazy
Did they find the hand?
ilove nico no not while we were there a giant catfish could have ate it if it sunk to the bottom really freaky
Potato WOW! Thats crazy 😮

Cleghorn canyon?
Yup, good eye.
Nice cats brother good video ..... new subscriber 👍👍👍👍
Was all this action in one day
Yes it was. Actually half day, I usually leave around noon as it gets too hot haha
