Cheers buddy ,got the hops picked and yours just starting ,so nice of a rope . I have plastic weed eater string some of my hop bines climb on and never broke . Nice to see Co Ro make the board ,she just brewed two diff brews .
Good to see you getting ready for your hop growing! Spring is definitely in the air. Glad to hear your brew day went well. Wow those beers from Kereru sound epic! Definitely a special occasion beer. I'm sure they will be a real treat. Cheers mate 🍻
Great video, mate. Interesting chat about kit yeast. I know a lot of people say they’re rubbish and admittedly I don’t use them, but it doesn’t make sense for companies to supply yeast that won’t make at least a half decent beer. Glad the brew day went well. It sounds like you planned it out well. I’m looking forward to seeing you taste that imperial stout. It definitely deserves a special occasion. Cheers!
@@finnroohomebrewing Ha ha I hear you. I find that I really need to be in the mood to be able to to enjoy beers like that. My preference is usually to give them a good 6-12 months in my beer fridge before drinking too.
Hi Mr. F! Wow, thanks for the shout out! Almost didn't recognize you without the beard! Either way works for you 👍 watcha got going on your garden this year? Agree, a downfall of kits is that you don't get to choose your own yeast. I brewed an all grain honey ale years ago but don't remember the yeast I used. Cool you harvested yeast from prior brew....used to be set up better to do that. Don't know if I would remember how now 😂 Cheers friend! 🍻 ... interesting ingredients in that last beer!
Nice one Finn. It seems like just yesterday when it was spring here. Summer went by fast. I was telling you about how my hops didn't make it through the heat & wildfire smoke this year but I forgot one detail that probably affected them more than anything: spotted lantern flies. They were a big issue in the US this year. Hops are one of their host plants. Good to hear about the Tired Bastard. Awesome gift from your brother. Definitely a special occasion beer. Cheers mate!🍺🍻
Yes, very happy to have the TB in the fermenter again. The Panic Attack pale is next week. He's something worth pondering. Do insects attack mostly unwell plants. All that heat and bad air may have caused your hops to get undernourished and then hit by the flies. Anyhow, sorry to hear you lost your hops, plant can be fickle for sure. I hope you get some more up and running. Cheers mate😎👍
@@finnroohomebrewing I transplanted the hops in late winter and maybe that caused them to be less resistant to intense wildfire smoke and lantern flies, which hatch in spring. They came to the US from China in 2012 (big surprise) and were first spotted in 2014. Adult lantern flies feed on a bunch of different crops and plants like grapes, apples, walnuts, hardwood trees, and of course hops. So yeah, they like to attack healthy plants…the little bastards! Panic Attack Ale sounds delicious!!!🍺🍻
If you get the right style it works, but as you said, when I started getting picky, I started disliking the kit yeast. Too much banana in the end. Cheers
Good to see you at the brewery yesterday mate!
Have a good weekend!
Cheers mate, it was a good pick me up and got me going. The Mustang is drinking nicely . 😎👍
Glad to hear you’re back on the all grain! Nice 👍 cheers buddy 🍻
Cheers Beerman. 😎👍
