- The Weissenhaus Freestyle Chess GOAT Challenge 2024 has an amazing venue. There are so many little things that have been taken care of while making the venue. Sagar Shah takes you on a little tour that shows you how beautifully everything is done.

Wow! This is the most beautiful chess venue I've ever seen. Dare I say even better than the beautiful St Louis chess club. Not only is it gorgeous but the attention to detail and thoughtful touches are insane! The interior designers and organizers of this even get a 12/10 from me. THIS is how you host a top tier chess event. Thanks Sagar for giving us this tour!
This tournament is so awesome! I love all the details!
Shooting the entre video in single shot is just like a cinema. Brilliant work Sagar and Amruta and ChessBase folks. Keep it coming, we fans have a huge appetite.
Great presentation. Well done!
Now that is what we call German engineering! Spectacular!
Great effort put up by Jan and his team, and great coverage as well sagar
Thank you for the fascinating tour! Well done!
Just amazing, I hope this sets the standards for all future important chess events
This is a HEAVEN for chess players
Amazing stuff, thank your for this look behind the scenes!
If Hikaru was there, he will surely use the confession room.
Somebody tag FIDE to this video 😂
Time for them to learn a thing or two
World class players in a world class environment - giving the game the respect it derserves
Such an intereting video! Thank you so much from a chess fan from Germany! It seems to be an incredible tournament!
this might even end as the wijk aan zee of chess 960🔥🔥
17 min engaging video, unscripted, showing the venue with so much enthusiasm, probably shot in a single shot, wonderful skill,Amazing.
Wow. Beautiful venue and set up. German engineering and luxury! They need to invite 16 players next time to grow it bigger.
Beautiful insights. Thank you very much!
Great behind the scenes!!!

09:14 - I'm not correcting Sagar here. To clarify for everyone wondering why it's called Chess960, the name comes from the fact that you can arrange a chessboard in 960 variations. So indeed, Chess960 does have 960 possible starting positions, as the name suggests.
the starting position is also in those 960 positions, so there are only 959 possible positions that might get played (they remove the starting one) altho yes he did make a mistake saying 958 for some reason
@@papesldjnsjkfjsn 958 wasn't a mistake. Apart from the standard classical position, they also remove the one where only the king and queen are swapped.
@@sanchitsharma4366 which one did they remove?
What a wonderful environment to play chess in. I am jealous.
Verry beautiful rooms, incredibile!
Awesome, amazing, thanks Sagar Bhai for beautiful relay from weisesenhouse , thanks 🎉🎉❤❤❤ , No words, just stunning to watch. 🎉❤
A beautiful Barn conversion!
How wonderful 😊
Beautiful venue.
Great video! Thanks for the insights.
Imagine Hans Niemann in this venue!... 😱😱😱
LOL
Bro would have a field day in here 😂
$3 million worth damages incurred 💀
Looks amazing 🤩
thank you for taking us around
Great coverage behind the scenes!
Thanks for covering everything by sacrificing your sleep ..... this event is awesome ❤️🔥
It looks so cosy, especially the lounge area. When the players had this 10-min-prep time, it looked as if they were casually siting in a living room lol.
I love the chess tables with the digital boards without messy cables. Jan said in an interview that they might start building and selling these tables, I think that’s a great idea. And I love that the venue is comparatively small, that makes the atmosphere family-like. For the players it’s probably nice to have short ways, with their private lounge areas just a few steps away from the board.
really cool
Nobody will stop Gukesh, even doors, or walls.
Excellent tour and obviously excellent preparation and delivery from the hosts of the tournament. Excting news regarding the concept of Grand Slam Chess and to be regarded and treated with the same dedication as F1.
Thanks CBI, that was awesome!
This is definately a lux tournament. I hope gukesh is alright though after hitting the glass. Its nice the organizers give them their own space with their food preference.
7:41 nice plug for Levy!
Thank you for the tour - the old barn style of this venue looks really charming! However, I noticed that the ceiling is made of wood and glass and I couldn't spot any air vents. I was wondering if there is enough fresh air supply (as higher CO2-concentration / more re-breathed air leads to lower cognitive performance)? Do you know by any chance if the organisers monitor air quality / CO2-levels?
The entire venue was renovated in 2006 when Jan (the organiser) bought it. So I imagine they updated it to modern standards while keeping the aesthetic.
Seeing the beautiful venue they have designed for an event, which I personally don't like as much as the 360, one thinks about how far chess has come from Fischer's time to this moment. I have a question if you want to answer it: Why have only these players been invited and many others left out? Example Nakamura, among others...
In an interview with Chessbase Germany, the host said that Carlsen decided who was invited.
@@PW-qi1gi OHHH I didn't know Carlsen had so much decision-making power. Thank you very much for your answer.
I heard somewhere that Nakamura declined.
@@privatevendetta Thanks for the information.
I have heard that Wesley Son also declined because he is preparing for candidates
Nice Tournament Environment and playing area... Spotlight coming to Chess from World Elites.. Usually, it brings Politics & Betting also, Hope Chess World shall be free from these.. and be allowed to happen as it happens, without any dilution on Spirit of Game.🙏
Is this the first chess tournament here? Or has there been chess here for avwhile?
the first
Germans know how to do this tech stuff with utmost efficiency. Colourful, warm and cozy in those bone chilling cold temperatures.
When its German, it is a German style!
How can I be a VIP to be able to watch the game in person?
Buy the entire venue
@@Anime_quizie where do I buy it? 🤔
You're not bruce wayne
@@mrbeanchess1439he is
@@mrbeanchess1439Maybe he is 🚶
Sp#518 isnt included lol then thats why its not 960 ....freestyling takes out starting positions thats been Chessplayed maybe ...initially+#!! 🤔
I don’t know how it’s handled in other competitions: do the organizers include the standard position or not? Would be fun if accidentally number 518 was chosen 😅
It's not Full Chess(960) if it doesn't.....though still Fun^dermentally CHESS from the only 960 initial randomised starting positions Created in the beginning+#!!
12:20 .... 3 million euros*
Sorry but Are you guys there just to shoot these backstage videos?
Without the stream it's difficult to follow the games.
The matches stream on Magnus's channel and on Freestyle_chess channel....
@@StonefalconettiWatched it there yesterday, but they just show Magnus's Game and ignore other most of the time.
Which is interesting they will choose that and switch to other games at times @@randomverse1501
Acha hua anish ko nahi bulaaya. Warna sab chori kar leta😂
GuKesh Go for the win
IF SAGAR SHAH WAS A BROKER
Multi-Million Dollar Listing!!! Go Sagar!!
best of all the premises is bead proof
2 are normal ??
1 posn where queen and king are just exchanged (you might remember the Magnus’s opening-queen king castle) is also removed
518 is normal. They also removed 534
@@rajsridha860 why did they remove 534
Because just exchanging queen and king allows you to play pretty standard openings, once you castle there is 0 difference and obviously thats not the point
First
Ding will not win candidates for sure 👍
He doesn't need to play the candidates😅
😂@@Anime_quizie
well you are not wrong
@@chintandoshi2291😂😂😂😂
@@Anime_quizieApparently he's not wrong😅
The organizers of this unannounced 'out of the blue' event obviously hate former World Champion Bobby Fischer and disallow his name being used. Or else, it would be named what it should be: 'FischerRandom/960 GOAT Challenge'.
but why would you use fischer random name? i know he started the format, but its just a weird name to be given to a chess variant, freestyle sounds more suitable
They wanted it to feel more inviting to non chess players, therefore the unusual name
LOL, with the name you suggested people wouldn’t even know that it is chess.
We make the best CHESS videos but no one watches 🥺🥺
dumb tournament. chess 960 without nakamura, ian and wesley bc magnus is a diva.
Hikaru was invited, who knows about the othets
it's boring with all these old people playing. the youngsters bring in thrill. you can see that in this tournament.
@@kpNov23 was he invited?
@@zelda.1776yes, he declined. I don’t know why
