I think the lore reason for Eigong's third phase is quite amazing. Unlike normal ending, Yi had to wait for completion of the nuke arrow and the evacuation of the apemen so the root decryption process advanced to 80%. When we beat her phase 2, the process was likely almost done, so Eigong decided to go all out one last time to buy that extra bit of time.
in my opinion, eigong is literally one of the best 2d bosses ever made, i can fight her over and over again and wont get bored for a pretty long time! i hope they dont change her, its just a near perfect boss for me.
This is defenitly one of the hardest metroidvania bosses I've fought, Like She's up there with Absolute Radiance (Hollow Knight) and The Emperor (Aeterna Noctis)
I actually cried 😭 A tear jerking and beautiful end for a hero with a tragic backstory, who started off only wanting his revenge and somewhere along the way, learned the value of love, companionship and sacrifice. I grew to love Yi as I played his character throughout the game and this ending to his story throughly destroyed me... but gave me such a bittersweet feeling at the same time as well. It's a fitting ending for him and his character development, which came full circle 💔
The ending is might be the best one I even seen on my entire life. Congratulations on beating third form, seeing it how much It's difficulty really proves yourself.. Worthy? But yeah, good job
My suggestion is to read it every time you fail. The boss's actions still have a fixed pattern. Once you remember it well and think of countermeasures, you will become stronger in the next battle.
yea dont bother, this boss will more than likely be getting nerfed in a future patch, its just ridiculous in its current state. way too much visual noise and bullshit flying all over the screen at all times and the 3rd phase is an absolute fucking joke.
Yeah dont give up, when you crack the pattern it is fun, I got frustrated when I died in second phase on her first move like 10 times It is normal, have fun :)
The game is great but by the end become too annoying for me to enjoy. On Fuxi i burnt out completely🤣 so i storymode this old lady and have no regrets. Thanks for showing me true ending bro👍
Came here after beating this, and I'm so dumb... I literally never realized you can skull kick her talisman attack xd Dashed through her / outranged her every time and never tried to counter it normally... Used the triple slash buff, iron shell (1/2 damage->internal damage one), internal damage heal w/ slash, and internal damage transfer w/ unbounded counter jades for my build. Super fun fight! Really loved triple parrying the "omae wa mou" attack where she dashes through you
That's because she didn't have enough time in normal ending. If you notice, in normal route the root decryption percentage was only at 20% as opposed to 80% in true end. That's why she gave up rather than going all out to buy a little more time.
1. You have to max affinity with Shaunshaun by giving him most of the gifts. Will take place over most of the game, so don’t worry about doing it first. 2. You have to save the apemen tribe when it gets attacked. Just talk to Shaunshaun and Shennong to the right side of the pavilion after escaping from the prison. Then you can access the village through the mines. 3. You have to give Shennong all the poison and drink with him. 4. When Shennong disappears go to the docks and then go left to the apeman camp. 5. Complete the puzzle rooms in Ji’s zone. This will unlock a final room where you will have to fight a boss before entering. Then look around the room and you’ll find an ancient solarian weapon and talk with Lear one last time. Hope this helps!
@@yeedog6145 Yeah, it's a pity that you have to do ALL this points. I mean the only thing which I didn't finish was 3 and 4. I think that really shouldn't be SO restrictated. Nethertheless I still love this game and in the future I'll try to unlock this true ending :D
@@gandalfczarny2289 I think its because its forcing the player to be able to survive a little longer against the 3rd phase since its locked behind this route too. A forced kindness by all means.
I wouldn't say it's better. There's a lot of questionable design decisions regarding the map design and enemies that make this game feel slow and tedious (i.e. lifts are slow, the platforms that appear and disappear take forever to change, statues take forever to deliver their attack you need to counter, etc.). The worst thing is that it's story heavy, so if you want to replay it for the gameplay, you're going to be wasting a lot of time trying to 'skip' through the cutscenes (making it more suitable as a one-time experience).
this phase 3 shit is ridiculous. theres no way in hell the devs playtested this boss at all before release. eigong is DEFINITELY getting nerfed within a couple weeks. there is no way in hell anyone who doesnt spend all day playing games will beat this mess of a boss.
Woah, it's almost as if self sacrifice is a traditional value in south asia :O who would've guessed that game developers are influenced by their cultures???
If this is the true ending, it can go f itself. I'd rather the normal ending than put an effort only to get a bittersweet crap instead of a full on good ending.

This, in my opinion, goes for basically every main boss in this game.
This is defenitly one of the hardest metroidvania bosses I've fought, Like She's up there with Absolute Radiance (Hollow Knight) and The Emperor (Aeterna Noctis)
I think she's harder than Absolute Radiance but I'm here for it since her fight is so fun
CLEAN🎉
Congratulation🎉🎉
Thanks!!
Lore accurate Yi
i cant hold yourself
Eigong - "Yi i am your father"
Yi - "..." "NOOOOOOOO"
and they even have deathstar in penglai))
How many endings are there?
2 endings. I link the other video in the description with the normal ending if you are curious

Lmao

But yeah, good job
Thanks bro
anyone else here because the steps to trigger true ending are just annoying and you cant be bothered to replay the no point of return segment again?
two questions -- how long did it take you to beat her at all (for the first time) vs. hitless, and what's your Jade build for the fight?
Around 5 attempt to beat her once and maybe 3 or 4 hours to no-hit her.
My Jade build was Focus, Immovable, Hedgehog and Swift Descent
5 attempts? Damm ur a god
I’ve taken 5 attempts and haven’t even broken her first phase
At first I hated this boss but by the end i was like hell yeah.
Same
its so fun once u get the hang of the patterns. really feels like a dance
The climactic music during the third phase elevates it SO much.
Same! At first I was like "Wtf isn't this too difficult?", But once I got the hang of her attack patterns, the fight became soooo fun to do
Well... At least he got to see his sister again
That was some awesome play through!
Also, I’ve noticed that 6:18 looks like a corrupted sun/sol, fitting the whole lore
Thanks for watching!
I am not crying youre crying ...
Wait lightsaber.... Darth Vader!?
omg, how did you block all that? crazy skill.
how do you guys properly counter all of her attacks? is there a trick to it?
My suggestion is to read it every time you fail. The boss's actions still have a fixed pattern. Once you remember it well and think of countermeasures, you will become stronger in the next battle.
Yeah so I just got to this boss safe to say I am not beating this game

push through bro, she's super fun once you get the moves down

Great job

Well I'm on attempt roughly 150 and almost got phase three lol.
So the true ending is a woman who’d kill herself, and kill an entire species out of pure spite, rather than admit she was wrong.
Yeah, that’s legit.
That's because she didn't have enough time in normal ending. If you notice, in normal route the root decryption percentage was only at 20% as opposed to 80% in true end. That's why she gave up rather than going all out to buy a little more time.
@@gluelake they're not talking about that, they're referring to the plan she is trying to enact
It's not spite. She's just crazy and thinks turning into pink monsters is the next step of Solarian evolution.

1. You have to max affinity with Shaunshaun by giving him most of the gifts. Will take place over most of the game, so don’t worry about doing it first.

not necessarily better, but I'd say it's the next best thing since Hollow Knight
I'd say on par with it.
Prolly not. If you put in extra effort to get true ending, you get bittersweet crap instead of a good ending. Hollow Knight does that way better.

After watching pure lore about this game... The True ending is the best option.
