Yes he did. Just mentioned to friends of mine right now, how I think he was very underrated during his life, he made some really amazing soundtracks and never got the credit he deserved. He also did Cannon Fodder and Sensible Soccer music (though some of those were composed with Jon Hare) and the great soundtrack of The Chaos Engine, among other stuff.
The premise of this was so simple that at first glance looks silly, but when you think deeper on it it becomes overwhelming. The city of legends trial and proving your worth to the gods willing for you to fail may be and can extrapolate to anything you want to achieve in life. I come to hear this tune for inspiration every now and then. This tune is carved in the walls of that city.
Have a house full of macs and pcs and ios devices and android n stuff... but nothing compares to my Amiga. Made you creative was fun and frinedly. I think mine had a soul!
This was the first time of me using something out of "instructions". I've been told to type "cd games", "cd prince" and "prince" into the DOS prompt. One morning, once too early, I tried typing "dir" into to the "games" directory. I saw "GODS". I did "cd gods", and then just "gods"; as I didn't know the "dir *.exe" command yet. But it happened. GODS launched. It launched in its all glory. I was APPALLED listening to this music. Incredible and I still remmeber that morning after 28 years later.
@Rheinheld THAT, I can probably vouch for. There used to be a Motorola factory I used to pass by on my way to Kuala Lumpur, although it belongs to "Freescale Semiconductors" now. It's on the main highway leading into Kuala Lumpur. Should've checked out that factory sooner. Ah, well.
@SaviourV Btw, the Amiga did show up in Malaysia. The only thing was that it was difficult to get and ungodly expensive (I remember a Trebor contest in the Kuntum magazine circa 1993 or 1994 where the first price was an A500).
This was actually my favorite Amiga game... The premise alone, the gods offering humanity any wish if a champion would step foward and liberate their city, and instead of riches, or fame, the hero (you) chooses to be counted amoung them. Very ballsy, loved it. The gameplay was awesome too. Then there was the music, which I loved as well =) I still have my Amiga2000 sitting under my desk.
As far as I know, ShiryuGL, the Amiga never showed up in my country, Malaysia. What a pity. Ended up listening to the beeps of my old PC's speakers when I played this around 1990 or so. If I only met the Amiga sooner, and if I had been born a whole lot earlier, I'd have pushed for that computer to show up on the shelves. What a pity. Good thing there's people like you who appreciate good games, good music, and good computers, too. :)
"Any man may earn, through skill and courage, a single favour, if he will face the fear of the ancient city, and slay the four great guardians who have stolen our citadel." Our hero stands before the gods, and asks that if he fulfills their quest, he will join them as an equal. Only the hope of the hero's failure comforts them. The warrior departs for the City Of Legends, preparing to carve one more story upon its walls. That hero is YOU.
While I appreciate everyone has a different taste, but this is much better than the Chaos Engine intro song. Not saying anything about the game, but this intro is the greatest.
Game was hardly shite. It was ace, I finished it time and time again. At the end you were supposed to be bestowed eternal life but really it was 20 lives. Still have it on my Xbox Amiga Emulator. Lots of fun!
Ah, the memories. I killed three joysticks playing this one and Gravity Force. Good times, and although they are gone I'm very happy I was a part of it.
The Game lived up in every way to this amazing intro. Great unforgettable backgrounds, amazing bosses and a progression in difficulty that was something else. Still if the Gods come asking, answer back and they will make it worthwhile.
This music is awesome! Amiga had lots of beautiful games, unfortunately when i was a child there were yet SNES and Mega Drive (Genesis), but i played Xenon II, very cool!! =D I'm italian,so sorry if i make languages'mistakes
@Gerardus1970 The Amiga, (along with the ST, much as it pains me to admit it ;) was the first machine where you could be really creative with graphics and sound without having to amass a lot of programming know-how. I suspect a lot of senior graphic designers now in their late 30s probably cut their teeth on DPaint. Unlike a console, even the basic A500 gave the user an ability to make their mark, even if only for their own pleasure. I suspect that's why it has a place in many hearts.
Hell yeah!!!!! i havnt seen this in twenty years i used to love this game and all the other bitmap brothers games.pretty awesome for only 8 bit sound...all there games were so revolutionary.thanks for posting this.chaos engine was sick too.
I can't believe I missed this gem on the Amiga. I had most of the Bitmap Brothers games on my Amiga, my favourite being The Chaos Engine which also had awesome music. I can't get over how great this intro tune sounds, the music in this game is fantastic and is typical of The Bitmap Brothers. What legends they are. I must hunt down a copy of this game. Thanks for sharing, really enjoyed this vid.
@SaviourV I had the PC Version. If you installed a SoundBlaster 16, you get something that sounds like that. And allegedly, if you hooked up a Roland MT32, you get the full deal. I first heard the PC speaker beep version on an old 286 that came with the game. Then out of curiosity, I copied the game over to a Pentium 166 with a SoundBlaster AWE64 card, and was promptly blown away by the samples. And I'm Malaysian too :)
I've owned them all, but the Amiga still gets me every time. Something to do with the heart and soul that went into the very first Amiga me thinks... it simply transends the silicon and plastic it was made of. An special machine for a very special time, and we know we will never see either again... but at least the legacy remains and it's history is written.
wonderul 90's rack as ever from the Bitmap Bros. Gods really was a steup-up in graphics and sound at the time but also i feel just around the time of the amiga's downfall...nearly every original game that could have been made had been and the games were just becoming re-hashes of older ones. Amiga 500...the best time period of gaming ever
It wasn't all that spectacular but I still liked the game. As far as Amiga platformers I've played I'd rate it waaaaay ahead of Shadow of the Beast but behind Leander and waay behind Turrican 2.
@Rheinheld Hmmm. Are you certain? Perhaps there wasn't enough publicity about Amigas here, or perhaps they were considerably high-priced for the time. Haven't found anything pointing to Malaysia as the place where the Amigas were mass-produced, at least, according to Google. If you do have any info, do let me know.
I always found this game creepy when I was young ... games on the Amiga were so much more original , these days with the internet and social media originality has become less and less.. I used to love the game Another world too
There was truly a unique aesthetic to the Bitmap Brothers and Amiga games in general. We just could never imagined how good we had it back then and what the industry would become.
ShiryuGL The Amiga was one of a kind maybe the last computer with such a unique style of games , all those small companies that made these gems are now finished or have been swallowed up into big corporate companies , I believe it was the small size of the productions teams which gave birth to these unusual but amazing games , it was like a group of friends making games how they wanted it rather then how they thought the world would like it and it paid off . (My Amiga 500 is in a cupboard I haven’t the heart to throw it out)
spent a few hours on this one back in the day...i always thought it was reaaaaally hard. awesome music, of course :D don't think i ever read that whole message befoer now! might have to get this one going on my emulator :)
@RAMChYLD Really? I never thought that old kids mag would have put that up as a prize. Man...if only Amigas were mainstream in this country - change might've been brought forward a whole lot quicker. By the way, it's nice to meet a fellow Malaysian, this side of UA-cam. Did you get an Amiga, by any chance?
@jimeh123 Yeah you can still make a nice remix out of this. Boost the quality of the samples. I remember making remixes of this on the amiga. I ripped all of the samples from the game itself and made great music. :D The Amiga time was wonderfull. Loved this game. My all time favorite was Turrican and Zool.
u don't see graphics like that in today's games the best 2d games had that artistic quality that i don't really find in 3d games. even tho the best 3d games can have other artistic qualities like character design and location design and color layout and all of that - i just sometimes miss seeing game graphics that has that kind of expression u can only get with drawings. oh well - i guess the world keeps moving on
The Amiga , even though i've never even seen one, seem so familiar, i don't know it feels like i know it some how, maybe its because the music reminds me so much of my old spyro the dragon ps1 game music, in a great way, i've explored the Amiga and to be quit frank i wish commodore were still around, they would kill windows, and mame apple!!!
Amiga was godly, its a pity commodore couldnt stay ontop with its pitiful marketing strategy, it could of topped apple and even PC, but it was not given the praise it deserved back in the day. More of an elitist gaming computer than a proper serious contender to PC. Happy days, RIP beloved Amiga.
I can’t even remember how many times i loaded this game just to listen to the music !
Don't forget Amiga Heimdall, amazing intro music too
This music is magic. Today it is 8 years since Richard Joseph has died. Rest in Heaven, RJ.
Who is he?
the man who tracked this song I think.
Didn't he also make the superb music for the James Pond series? One of the best and most charming platform games ever made.
The Amiga...The Machine of the Gods!
+Xenolithic Agreed.
Fukin' A well ahead of its time and powered a generation of smart people. Keep going...

Beautifully said.
Poetic You
Have a house full of macs and pcs and ios devices and android n stuff...
but nothing compares to my Amiga.
Made you creative was fun and frinedly.
I think mine had a soul!
When you're taking a shower but you need a WATERFALL.
What an epic intro that was, always got me pumped up for the game, well after a dozen or so times
This was the first time of me using something out of "instructions". I've been told to type "cd games", "cd prince" and "prince" into the DOS prompt. Nice!
Great music, great graphics, great souvenirs...
amazing techno from a forgettten computer. amazing track :)
The Amiga is never forgotten. ^_^
+ShiryuGL How could it be forgotton.....any 80's kid'll head straight back to childhood hearing this! Amiga Format Demo I got it on!
Like B-)
Never forgotten my friend
This melody had been haunting in my head since then. And I did not remember where I've heard it. Now I know! Thanks! 😁
Glad I could help.
Sweet nostalgia 🗝⚔🗡
Stuff like this and ‘The Wall’ from Turrican 2 made me into a big Nine Inch Nails fan when I found them
Best game music on an the Amiga in my opinion as well as SotB. Brings back so many memories from when I was 14
@Rheinheld THAT, I can probably vouch for. There used to be a Motorola factory I used to pass by on my way to Kuala Lumpur, although it belongs to "Freescale Semiconductors" now. It's on the main highway leading into Kuala Lumpur.

music!!! dope!
I used to love this Intro. What a game. Beautiful song.
Bitmap Brothers made great games remember Magic Pockets with Betty Boop
I remember as a kid, I had this song on a casette and would listen to it on my walkman all day... The nostalgia blast is kicking my ass right now :)
And 12 years later, I'm still coming back to this lol

I never had an Amiga before, but this song here is the pure awesomeness. =D
It's a gem!
God I love love love this stuff. I lost my faith in anything the day the Amiga died :'(
The music is "Into The Wonderful" by Nation XII - try amazon for a copy of the album, never seen/heard an mp3 poping up on the net...
its like all the brilliant minds of the world worked on the Amiga , and now there gone and were left with such unimaginative game developers
That is the fate of all pioneers.
I'm italian,so sorry if i make languages'mistakes
Man this takes me back a few years :D
Good times.
Truly a golden era of gaming, so glad I experienced it
This game was amazing when it came out.
One of the Best Games i ever played anywhwere
I remember finished it 2 times in a row (2nd was a lot harder)
Amazing Music and Effects in this game !

Aaah.... takes me back =)
loved it on amiga in the good old days
@A1R5N1P3R I believe one manual mentioned that Hercules was that hero. I personally believe it would fit him perfectly...:)
The special version is only available on the PC with an old skool Roland sound card. Its even better than the Amiga version....
awesome.. also on on pc !! man this game made me happy

Best game Intro ever!
Into..... the wonderful!
Iktu - Berwadiful
"Simply the best"
Anyone know what they are saying at the beginning, the dialogue.
Into the Wonderful.
Mine still has. And a memory expansion up to incredible 2,3 Mb.
But did you resolder your motherboard to increase your graphics memory? :D
This game is fantastic, those that say it is slow did not play it enough.
I always found this game creepy when I was young ... games on the Amiga were so much more original , these days with the internet and social media originality has become less and less.. I used to love the game Another world too

Its is nitce to see the indie spirit alive and kicking nowadays though.
If only I can find the MP3 of this song. This song ROCKS!
The game was cool the music was badass.
Musc mods ruled ;)
spent a few hours on this one back in the day...i always thought it was reaaaaally hard. awesome music, of course :D

u don't see graphics like that in today's games

@SaviourV
Amiga at least partially has showed up in Malaysia - my amiga mouses were made there ;)
Into... the Wonderful. =)
Sounded cooler back then. The music needs to be redone also.
@IceCat7 Nice!
RIP Richard Joseph (1953-2007)
@SaviourV it's been so long since I played it, that would make perfect sense.
Check out the new amiga coming out very soon, just search: Amiga X1000 in your favourite search engine!
i had this and it was way better than its so called rival atari st version lol
where the samples coming from ?
Amiga!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@ShiryuGL i know that :-) I should have asked - what's the original source
Remake is needed ,pronto!
It has been done already: store.steampowered.com/app/628720/GODS_Remastered/
Not very good the remade
The Amiga , even though i've never even seen one, seem so familiar, i don't know it feels like i know it some how, maybe its because the music reminds me so much of my old spyro the dragon ps1 game music, in a great way, i've explored the Amiga and to be quit frank i wish commodore were still around, they would kill windows, and mame apple!!!

4 channel divinity
Few could do it better than Richard Joseph (RIP good sir).
Fuck yeah! This game gave me the biggest stiffy!
Amiga was godly, its a pity commodore couldnt stay ontop with its pitiful marketing strategy, it could of topped apple and even PC, but it was not given the praise it deserved back in the day. More of an elitist gaming computer than a proper serious contender to PC.

Please rerelease this on the iphone and playstation store!! Like if you agree.
hmm it say's darren
@SaviourV v ^_^
I loved this game but yeah Magic Pockets was crap.
Great graphics but a rather dull and slow game. I don't like it that much actually. The music is great, tho.
