My family moved from Dyersburg Tn to Blytheville Arkansas in "1977" on Abbott st. Lived there till 2006. I moved to Kansas and although it hasnt changed for the best its still home and was once just the most picture perfect lil town to grow up in. It amazes me how folks that hadn't lived in Blytheville,drive down the most impoverished area and call it bad. It used to house one of the largest industrial courts in Arkansas next to Little Rock,my dad worked in Osceola AR at American Greetings and we had a comfortable life. Folks had jobs, Borg Warner, Milwaukee tool, St Louis blowpipe,tons of farming jobs,lots of restaurants,movie theater,Malco Trio,had a nice access to the river to hang out,boat or fish. Not all that is shown is ugly and yes once upon a time there wasn't trash everywhere and abandoned housing,it really was just beautiful and life was slow and folks were family and neighbors were good. This isn't just happening in Arkansas,its small town distruction everywhere in the U.S. i remember being on those streets walking to "Walkers park" to ride the train,going to the fair and demolition derby,i saw the Judds and Sammy Kershaw at the Grand stands and remember end of school trip to the park. Drove every dirt road around and raised my kids in Gosnell. Blytheville began its downfall as the industrial park began to shut down,no factories,no jobs,the the closing of the Air base caused landlords to no longer uphold better living environments. Now there is farming and Nucor Steel and if you don't do either its pretty slim pickens. Folks there is the utmost need to bring production back to the U.S. We are losing our small towns,we are leaving nothing for our children. They will never know what living in a close,small,production town is like. Create the need for production here in our country,provide jobs,boost the economy so it becomes once again a production loop of life. We may have struggled in our little town,but we had great love and respect for each other. I pray often for my home town. Blytheville should be represented in the eyes of those of us who loved and loves it.
Blytheville? Wow, it’s the most random places sometimes that are some of the most dangerous areas. For example I had no idea Delaware was so dangerous until I started watching AK’s channel.

Blytheville/ and Osceola is the second or third most dangerous behind Little Rock and/or pine bluff( probably number one for its size) I lived here in 97 it was rough All this happened after crack epidemic in the mid 80s and really fell apart after the Air Force Base shut down in 92. I always thought it was pretty cool town myself.
😊all of your statistics are not accurate on this one. The air base closed and that end of the city suffered. All small railroad towns have old buildings in the middle of town and new growth by the interstate and rivers. The city is starting to tear down old homes and buildings and a few new businesses are starting to turn around downtown. There are generational families. Graduation rates are higher than you are saying. Arkansas is not the 3rd most dangerous state.
Just looked it up, Blytheville is indeed majority sun. Unfortunately yeah where suns are the majority the city is in a greater probability of being dangerous.
I lived there from 1998-2005 , 2008-2010/11. Transplant from PA and moved back to PA. The people are nice from my experience, however it was a culture shock.
Long time Blytheville resident - It's not that bad if you stay out of places you don't belong, I guess. I wouldn't live in the town itself, I live out in the country, but I go into town most days. You just gotta stay strapped and mind your own business and you'll be ok. And stay out of places like you were in at night.

ALL cities are getting bad. I just had to move from city limits of a major US city to the suburbs. I hate the Suburbs but it wasnt safe where I was living anymore. So no I don't live somewhere perfect
This town had the highest per capita murder rate in the country in 2020. I visit there for work and travel everywhere and it is one of the saddest to visit.
