Legal professionals rely on billing by hour almost exclusively. And, I believe that using a time tracker (e.g. Tmetric) is a must as it defines the revenue stream.

I love your videos, so glad I found your channel. I'm currently a legal assistant but love law so much that I'm looking into paralegal studies. As a legal assistant, I def know that I wouldn't survive without to-do lists lol so I can only imagine how integral there are for a paralegal!

I'm new to you videos and just 6 months in at a small Estate Planning Firm. Brand spankin' new from being a home maker for 18 years. Being a admin assistant/secretary/receptionist is in my wheel house.....just never at a Law Firm. Also, a steep learning curve when it comes to technology and different software platforms. Thanks so much for your videos. I'll have to google Asana to see if it's for me/my office. Is it a free download? This video I see is from 2019 do you still use this platform. Right now, I make lists and am starting to make reminders on my Outlook personal calendar. How is Asana better?
I"m old school so I've got the soft skills down pat. Arriving early and the like. It's vital for me to have that "quite time" to make sure I can organize my priorities, check my calendar. This is what will dictate my day :)

I am a legal assistant for 2 attorneys in addition to all receptionist duties for 3 partners as well. And some admin (entering payments, opening files) I feel overwhelmed with not only the legal assistant portion but the receptionist portion. Although the receptionist portion is not difficult it is so time consuming as I am constantly interrupted. I have no legal experience and currently in my 5th month. I have missed getting dictation back within 48 hours a few times bc I straight up miss this and I feel that they expect more out of me at this point like I have been doing this for a long time as the other assistants

That’s ridiculous. I don’t care how small a law firm is, receptionist should be a dedicated position.

Something I am struggling with is how to determine what is priority. I tend to get things and every needs to get done.

You need to consider factors like deadline and how important a task is when deciding priority. Something due today at 4pm should be obviously a priority. Something due in a week but is extremely important and takes time to due is also high priority. Priority requires you weight the factors of the different tasks to determine which is higher prioritu over another task. Sometimes things will be similar priority. You can look at the GTD grid for some more idea on priority.
