I think that in Italy the belief is that Graffiti will happen (it is an Italian word) so why throw money at cleaning it off when it comes back. As long as the train can operate safely that's the important thing. The New York Subway was always like this in the 1970's and 1980's

I had the terrifying honor of riding a commuter train. I haven't experienced such ugly trains and facilities for such a desirable and historic city of ROME for a long time, trains totally covered in graffiti. Moldy platforms and transfer tunnels, stench, hundreds of pickpockets on every corner. Just an experience to travel there. (And the advice is to never keep wallets and mobile phones in your pockets or a backpack on your back, always take it in your hands on your chest). 🇮🇹
Your just adding to the paranoia do you travel by train much? Most people use these services daily with no problems. The lack of investment causes most of the issues along with the state of Italian politics which is often more about egotistical leaders and them v us fights than actually solving problems. I can think of another country with piss poor politics and piss poor transport

Even as secondary line not linked to national network it also serves as urban metro/rail in the first part is not really a good calling card for the city of Rome. Hopefully the new management will be able to make some improvements.
Somehow 60 new cars on order from Siemens for Greater Cleveland RTA to run on both the Shaker Heights and Airport Windermere lines are updated versions of these for both high and curb level platforms.

That unfortunately isnt all to uncommon in Italy in general. Was in Milan a few years ago and it was exactly the same on some trains.
