Back in the day, in Lubbock, when we were all young, OMG. When Lloyd Maines played steel and Robert Marquam was on drums... later after Robert passed, Davis McLarty drummed. Those were the days, when you could see great bands in a bar.
I can still feel his flop sweat dripping down on us from the stage just above me at Gruene about 20 years ago, singing this to a wall to wall crowd, all rushing the stage and screaming like this.
His best song (and that is saying something) and one of the best songs ever. If that doesn't start your motor, your battery is DEAD!!!
Saw this version of Joe Ely in a twin bill with Delbert McClinton at Bogarts in Cincinnati about 92. Joe stole the show.
Great country joe knows how to keep it real
Great song. Another Lubbock boy making great music.

another great one
Yes. Yes I would!
Great performance!
Joe Ely should be in the HOF....except the, well the reader knows....
His best song is on the Los Super Seven album "Plane Wreck over Los Gatos Canyon"
I noticed that too! I've heard Nashville is a sham.
Who is on lead guitar? Did he ver play with Lucinda?
Met him, briefly, at a bar in Nashville, after he'd filmed this. You shouldn't meet your idols while you're lit.
Joe or Waylon? Hmmm....
Hard choice to make...just sayin
Okay
Well... ...wouldja???
