By the way, my paladin playlist is complete, in case you wanna have a look. I guess, for Grym I would just replace what I did with returning pike for the crushing damage, but I need to test that. Apart from that everything else is paladin.
Great work and the first Solo Honour video I saw on the final fight! If I understand correctly the final phase was: Turn1: You: Haste pot and Disentegrate. Orpheus: Concentrated Blast Turn2: You: Triple smite with Luck of far realms. Orpheus: Chain lightning Turn3: Artistry of War and GG. It looked like that was it though, there was not going to be any platforms left for a turn4!
Thanks yeah, so there were some mistakes. Turn 1 haste pot disintegrate but I failed my save, so I got slowed. Orpheus did mind blast. Turn 1 is where should have sent Orpheus down first to eat the brainquake. Turn 2 Orpheus did chain lightning. I pass save, haste again, and smite. Once again, I should have used the topple the big folk attack which does more damage. Turn 3. Artistry. In turn 4 the upper platforms would be there. I still had some dethrone and chain lightning scrolls, but glad to not have needed them
@@zalzeeraI think you picked the right scrolls to use (artistry of war > disentegrate > chain lightning) because DEX is the brains lowest stat, and while chain lighting could theoretically roll as low as 5dmg with save it's super unlikely
@@shadowvor I'm gonna be honest with you man, I didn't think that through. Those had worked before, I was disappointed with dethrone. But now that you explained my decisions, it makes sense hahaha. Also I forgot to say this, afaik you can use globe spells to keep the platforms going through the orb of negations.
This was awesome! I was confused how the portal to the brain opened so fast. Is it because you were not in combat when you first cast the spell then your first combat turn was basically the second turn? I got majorly effed during this part because of counterspell and then getting mind blast stunned inside the globe of invulnerability. I did end up winning but it was a shit show 😂
This was my first time doing this. But yes, if you start channeling out of combat, as soon as it's Orpheus' turn the portal opens. So you can use that very effectively with invis. My first time with the portal was also similar, mind blast broke concentration on globe that almost killed orpheus. I had to use Shart's divine intervention to get out.
since you're in turn based mode there's no need to even control orpheus up to the brain stem, he and anyone else in your party will tp in when you climb it
@@zalzeera understandable. Did the same a couple days ago with the invis and smoke powder bombs to nuke the boss. I actually got a bug after killing Orin where I couldn't rest anymore because Minthara got stuck as my follower and couldn't talk to her or dismiss her. Had no choice but to beeline to the brain just to finish the run lmao
Honour mode is a difficulty level in BG3, it doesnt disable the use of invisibility. Narratively this part of the game emphasises the goal is to defeat the Netherbrain so I even on my first game I ran past a lot of enemies. I think they keep spawning enemies if you go slow. That said I'm sure many people will want to see a 100% kill run or one where the dragon dies.
Not abusing invisibility. Actually using it exactly as intended. If you play with your companions one of them will actually say “we need to fight OR sneak our way to the brain” The beauty of this game is that it gives you the freedom of multiple paths to victory!
Nice, i almost wiped on this fight to lose the honor run. The orbs were triggering on the round the brain brought them out, so they were just auto kills on half my party... it was freaking terrifying! Luckily, I got my nova off beforehand, so Shadowheart was able to clutch it with an artistry of war followed up by a lvl 6 scorching ray. Whew!
Yeah I got to know about that. I was planning on doing it proper in the next run that gets there anyway. You can probably stay invis if you cast greater invis instead but you will be in combat turn order.
MY dad and I got to brain fight.. I'm full paladin, my first melee strike is over 100 damage... then I automatically lose my turn. Any reason for this? Like LITERALLY the moment I smited him, I automatically lost my turn.
Yeah the brain's reaction, retributive brainquake or something. I don't remember the name, slows you. In honour mode, the slow only lets you do one attack per turn and you cannot haste yourself to counter that. So if you fail the save against the reaction, and you already used the one attack you can't do anything more that turn. My guess is that is what happened. If you re-watch my video, the same thing happened to me. Sorry to hear that though. Hope you guys managed to kill it.
I dont blame you bc you are solo, but you skipped my fav fight in the game lol. I love fighting my way up to the brain stem. Im almost there on my honor mode run, and i cant wait lol
Completely valid take. I did enjoy this fight on my full party. The music is so hype. The courtyard fight I am quite confident I could do it solo, it's just really boring to wait for all the enemy turns. Especially since I will get a few hits in and then have to wait for them to dash to me. The brain fight can be a bit challenging, but even on casual I don't usually kill everything on the brain. So I just decided to Bhaal.
When you want to subdue the crown with orpheus shouldn't you hold on to it for a whole turn? How is it that opening the portal to the brain happend instantly for you?
At least upto patch 5 (havent tested new patch), when you start channeling from invis the turn ends immediately. Then you just need to reach Orpheus's turn and the portal opens.
Paladins are a pretty versatile class because they are proficient in all weapons and armour so you can pretty much run anything you want. So it becomes personal choice, you can do gnomes or halflings for rarely missing a save. Halflings will also rarely crit fail dialogues or attack rolls. Gith have jump and misty step inbuilt along with proficiency with one skill until long rest. Half orcs are great for not dying and critting well. These are what I have played and almost always the sheer goodness of paladin carries the game so hard, that race does not matter.
Ok this is making me feel way better about choosing paladin for my next run. Lol nice job man.
By the way, my paladin playlist is complete, in case you wanna have a look. I guess, for Grym I would just replace what I did with returning pike for the crushing damage, but I need to test that. Apart from that everything else is paladin.

So wait. If you are playing a Duegar party, you can just walk to the brain?
Yeah pretty much. Don't need to be duergar as you can see in my video, but it will help.
I didn't know the game let you double-dip on Karsus Compulsion if its cast triggers combat.
Yeah this was the first time I did this skip, if you start from invis, as soon as it's his turn the portal opens.
Merry Christmas mate, congrats on your goal of defeating the brain on honor mode !
Thanks, and Merry Christmas to you too. Hope you have a wonderful holiday.

What feats did you use?
Savage attack, alert, great weapon master. Alert is not needed for this fight, but nice to have.
@@zalzeera cheers mate
Waterdhavian Cheese? what is that?
It's a joke. It's a type of cheese found in the game, and the picture on the thumbnail.
@@zalzeera oh. okay XD
GRAZ!~
Thanks man.
where is the honor ? you basically skipped all the fights abusing of invisibility. :(
It does say solo netherbrain, doesnt specify fighting everything on the way

They spared the enemies lives for they knew the enemy had no control due to the elder brain control. Truly honorable gameplay 🥹

Oh god that sucks. I had read some people thought it was the new legendary but it was just a bug. Congratulations on the run though.
The invisible thing is not working anymore
Yeah I got to know about that. I was planning on doing it proper in the next run that gets there anyway. You can probably stay invis if you cast greater invis instead but you will be in combat turn order.
@@zalzeeraNo, even that gets turned off, but any allies like The Emperor and Shovel will stay invisible.

What’s the epilogue even like when you don’t have companions?
They show up after this cutscene. It is the same. You meet them on the banks of Chionthar as usual.

Congrats! awesome paladin dps :)
I don't know if this is a bug or not. If you go invi after the cutscene, the crown will be able to attack through your invisibility, ridiculous.
Yeah I have heard of this, they went towards fixing the exploit and then overfixed it i think

Can you not long rest before the final battle? I feel like you could before or am I wrong
You get a free long rest when you leave the astral realm. I believe there is also a resto pod before upper city.
what races do you recommend for paladin?
