You are spot on regarding execution. The team are clearly great dancers (fields are evidence of that), but the stands are not clean, placements are not precise (and this is without me even knowing the counts like that, but straight arms or clear movements are still lacking). The intensity and passion is there, just needs to be tightened up so they can finesse the counts.
This is such an underrated team in my opinion. The band's sound might have something to do with it. With a full squad, Golden Passionate look great. Overall, it was a great season. 💙💛

First off, the Passionettes are the only collegiate team in GA that I raved over. I was made a fan in 2012 and religiously waited for Chance to post videos up until the end of Mykia’s second season as captain. For me, Mykia was the last great hit for the Passionettes. That’s just me. In terms of the Passionettes as a whole, we have got to go back to 2013/2014 and watch how Kenay and Kiki CAPTIVATED. I agree that there aren’t any moments that make me want to go back. Again, Mykia’s season was the last season that made me want to go back. I will rewatch videos from 2012-2019 all day, every day. Additionally, I think the counts are too “punk” or a bit of “community” (twerking, etc). I miss the formula they used to have to create counts that are engraved in my brain. I haven’t learned a Passionettes count in so long. In a sense, I think the high turnover rate is to blame. Each season it seems like there’s a completely new batch of girls. Therefore, they don’t have time to be molded or settle into the Passionette style. Uniforms… I think straying away from the “Joker-esque” (half and half) uniforms will be good. That white unitard from the first field you reviewed is not pleasing. And all say all of this to say: THEY DON’T LOOK BAD, but the old flare is completely gone. I would love to see a large squad of 14 Passionettes. Field shows… Passionettes don’t ever have a weak spot there. The band does not help. I’m completely fine with old songs like Skin I’m In, Watchulookinat, All the Way Live, etc. These arrangements do not support their size.
I kinda feel like in the stands, they lose the “collegiate dance” elements with the newer counts. The literal twerking and the body rolls are giving kinda high school!? Idk I agree with you Morgan…I don’t know how to feel about that first game and that set the tone for the season for me. On the field though…them girls are eating down!!!!! Great job overall ladies! ❤
I don’t think the problem is the team itself.. I think it’s the bands music.. cause the counts are selling.. so is the team but them music is really slow and battleish which is out of the comfort zone for both the band and the dance team
I will say they did good this season in my opinion. ASU did get a new band director this year I believe so you have to take that into consideration as well. He needs time to get used to the ASU style and culture and also you don’t know what he might be looking for from them now. Also he has started recruiting so you have to give the new members time as well. Secondly, even the “more popular“ teams have had seasons where they might have toned down and or focused on other things behind the scenes. They went out there and did what they had to do with what they had I commend them for it. I just can’t wait for Bubblin Brown Sugar to comeback. That meet up will be one for the books for real.

Morgan stuck in an era right now. The Passionettes are currently elevating the game. They bringing stuff to the table that’s new and innovative. They are the Brandy of HBCU dance lines right now
honestly if you know kayla as a dancer you know she she is gonna be full OUT at all times she’s gonna give her very best at all times so i’m not understanding the “overselling” part because it’s literally how she dances in general

Morgan, I totally disagree with you. Yes, the music was slower and they did different things but it made it interesting. These girls worked hard all season and why was they in the top 10. You chose to publicly bash them. Not cool !!! They had a wonderful season and Kayla danced her butt off. I lost all respect for you after viewing your review of 2023.
Some teams can’t pull off throwing counts continuously. They should just throw a count sit down then throw the next one when everyone is sitting down. I think that’s what’s the problem for me but idk 🤷🏾♀️
I understand what you mean. Their counts are soooo cute and intricate but it’s hard to take it all in when they do the 3 groups formation and the middle group is a count behind on a 16 while the first group is on the prior count.
If we are being constructive, I feel that it’s only fair that we be constructive of this review. I love what you’ve been doing Morgan in the dance world … you’ve always been a huge fan of the Golden Passionettes. With that being said, I feel this review was quite harsh. I agree, these aren’t the Passionettes of the 2000s and 2010’s but I don’t think that is their aim. This new era of the Passionettes are unfolding beautifully and these girls did a phenomenal job this season! They were entertaining and brought the heat every game. Where was this constructive criticism during the season? If all of your critiques are valid, then they should’ve never made top 10 the entire season. Also, the Passionettes (alongside 14K and Golden Delight) are the few quads that have continuously paved the way for these SWAC teams to be “a lil ratchet” in the stands - these girls are decades ahead of their time. And quiet as it’s kept, most of these bigger squads get the praise for stolen material from these lesser known squads. And that’s no shade. Now, are there things that they could work on to bring back that P-nette finesse that we all know, yes - but we could say the same for just about every danceline existing. These young ladies watch these reviews, and in my opinion, maybe the review shouldn’t have been posted in the first place. Just my take on things, and it’s def no shade. Love yall down P-Nettes!! 💙💛 Keep raising the bar Chance!
One more thing, Name a coordinator or sponsor that coaches, choreographs, designs/hand makes each uniform, and is also the team videographer?!?! Somebody give Chance his 10s!

I think that overall these counts take some getting use to but the precision and flow of the passionettes was missing. The missing unison was definitely noticeable but they were still great. Unfortunately, mishaps are more noticeable with this squad cause they're just known as those girls. While I thoroughly enjoyed Mykia as captain y'all are not gone act like Phee was not leading the ladies. The music from the band sounds better but it just wasn't flattering to the Passionettes.

I know that this is an honest review, and I know that publicity regardless of the review is GREAT for the smaller teams. However, I do wanna disagree with you and say that this season was a really great season for Passionettes, stand and uniforms included. Most of the counts you didn’t live for in this video weren’t actually new counts. In fact, some of those same counts you lived for in previous seasons/ videos. Coming from a team that was pretty much in the top 10 in all of your stand videos from this season, I think this review was harsh and not a reference of that.
Morgan, they’re literally the same videos regardless if you watched them week by week VS all at one time…so that statement is a bit confusing. My only ISSUE w this video is: Why use your platform to post an entirely negative review of a team? When you could’ve said nothing at all. Again, the difference is, because you post negative things quite frequently, is that is something here and there but to make an ENTIRE video bashing is crazy. ESPECIALLY being false, regardless of opinion.
Yea I’m confused….. these girls are doing intricate difficult collegiate level counts BACK TO BACK TO BACK TO BACK… which we’re not really seeing too much from anyone else, and consistent stadium intros, field… so from the videos, the critiques were harsh because they ate. You literally close some of the best videos lol. So I just don’t feel it was a fair critique because I’ve seen you GAS some stand work from fav team(s) that didn’t give nearly as much.

It’s the music and the counts are everywhere but some counts cute they are an amazing team but needs way more practice collectively.
