- “Change” BGM from the episode “The Last Problem” of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” (S09E26).
-Overall Comments-
This one is going to be hard to write. I’ve been with the show since late 2011, and have been doing these music extractions since 2012. This show and its music has meant so much to me, and I’m happy I was able to share it with the fandom at large these past 7 years.
And so here we are, the final episode of Friendship is Magic, an epilogue set partially 20 years after the events of the previous two-parter. Much the the other two finale episodes, this one is packed with music. This includes more wonderful score from William Anderson, and one final song from Daniel Ingram to round out the episode, season, and series.
William Anderson’s score makes me insanely emotional. We hear many returning cues one final time throughout the episode. The most notable for me is one final, beautiful reprise of the Magic of Friendship motif near the end of the episode. It’s one of the final pieces of score in the episode. I was insanely excited to have it play a role in the episode’s score, and I’ll go more into that in that track’s description.
And Daniel Ingram and Caleb Chan deliver us a final, emotional, beautiful song to end the series. There’s a ton to unpack there, so I’ll say my piece in those track descriptions.
Closing the series out with the book closing, right at the end of one final song, with the MLP motif playing one finale time, made me tear up. It was the perfect way to end the series. Thank you all so much for sticking with me all this time, and I’ll be sure to continue to post any other stuff I can whenever the remaining specials are released. Thank you.
For one final time, let’s dive in!
-Track Specific Comments-
Twilight and Spike are frantically packing for their move to Canterlot, and reflect on how much is changing for them, and their friends.
The track begins with some frantic arpeggios on strings and woodwinds to match the frantic nature of the scene.
As Twilight begins to reflect on the change taking place, the score shifts to a wonderful, emotional harpsichord and acoustic guitar piece. This, in a way, harkens back to some of the score from the first episode of the series. In an episode filled with musical callbacks, this one still has a lot of lovely new cues as well.
