8:14 Firefin snapper isn't in the top two. Stonescale Eel is indeed #1 and for #2 you're probably thinking of Oily Blackmouth. (free action potion, and some other less useful things). But actual #2 is Nighfin Snapper and Oily blackmouth would be 4th. Winter squid is 3rd being the only melee dps food buff and relatively difficult to farm. (Open water drop, seasonally limited) Firefin snapper (5th) aren't worthless but their use is limited to 1 alchemy recipe (fire oil) and its products aren't as valuable as Blackmouth Oil. Fire Oil's primary value is as a cheap "burnable" resource for powerlevelling alchemy through a certain skill range. Alchemists buy this rather than fish it themselves due to most players hating fishing and Firefin typically being dirt cheap. These fish values are based on per-unit pricing (not taking speed of farming them into account). Nightfin is a chore. Only one black lotus is allowed to exist at a time in each zone that has them. If you find one, you can know for certain there are no others in the zone. Gathering it starts the respawn timer, (for that zone) which is debated to be anywhere from 1-4 hours but is probably highly variable to prevent clockwork farming. Only one will respawn at a random location among the possible spawns. (spawn timers and node numbers are buffed on private megaservers due to population of course) You can't 4:47 "pick up a little _group_ of lotus". Even with knowledge of the spawn timer you have to visit each potential spawn point in the zone to find the _o̲n̲e̲_ place where _o̲n̲e̲_ has spawned. If another player camped a different spot and it spawned there, bad luck. Also 100g apiece on nostalrius for black lotus was due to chinese gold farmers having complete supply control. They used level 35 characters parked at every spawn point in the game and logged them all in at "roughly" spawn time, waiting until it appeared. They used teleport/flyhacks and had the characters float under the terrain avoiding mob aggro but still being able to loot the herb. Black lotus inflation on nost was due to a total monopoly by gold farmers. Not supply/demand. In a regular economy they should range from 15-30g apiece (maybe 40-60g late in progression) depending on the server age/content phase. Most guilds will not be flasking for MC, ONY or ZG (BWL debatable) aside from maybe putting Titan's on the tank. These are just nitpicking, though. There's good info in this video too. Your advice on buying twink items early and things like high level green resistance rings is spot on. A lot of retail refugees won't know what these are worth and they will be oversupplied in the opening weeks/months and vastly more valuable later on. There are a lot of seemingly "low value" items that fit this category and correspondingly will probably be a lot of players vastly underpricing them, not knowing what they've found. E.G. High level green wands "of healing" (55+) are holy priest BiS til Naxx. Expect to pay 300g+ for a well rolled one. Edgemasters handguards are lvl 45 mail gloves that provide +7 weapon skill to 1h axes/daggers/swords. (no other stats except armor at lvl45, mail grade) A layman's appraisal of it's power would probably be 'mediocre'. Yes it's an epic BoE world drop but it's low level and not even plate and it's stats look unremarkable. It also happens to be BiS for Fury DPS warriors until Naxxramas. (Fury warriors are the most played class/spec and top PvE DPS when endgame geared.) The bonus weapon skill allows warriors to itemise away some of their Hit stat into other dps stats and +7 is huge despite any given warrior likely only benefiting from one of the 3 bonuses. (Weapon specialisation talents encourage using the same weapon type in both hands) Edgemaster's is the most valuable BoE world drop in all of Vanilla (also statistically the rarest) but at first glance it looks pretty meh. I sold one (ever) on a low-population, mid-progression private server for 650g. I wasn't even lvl 60 yet. But if you spot this being sold at a price reflecting a layman's appraisal of its value (typically 50-100g but anything under 300g) you should snatch it immediately, assuming you have the funds. For anyone interested in making bank in Classic it's worth researching to find out which items are unexpectedly valuable compared to their "on paper" strength. Then buying these very early in Classic's lifespan
@Thelondonbadger In Feralas open water, I make ~55g/h fishing nightfin+oily blackmouth. That is of course afk-fishing while watching netflix/youtube on the second monitor.
@Thelondonbadger Oh yes! Got 400g on my lvl40 so far. I'm ally on the Kronos 3 server. Fishing (at night!) within feathermoon stronghold. Cooked nightfin stacks can be sold above 30g very quickly. Oily turns into free action potions with fluctuating prices, but for sure sells at 15g/stack.
@Thelondonbadger I'm on a mature server, with mature economy, so the gold-per-hour ratio will be much smaller at first. It's a good question! Fishing and cooking endgame is only at level 35. Most people wanna rush to max, and when they are, they discover how severely underpowered they are and shifts their focus to grinding better gear. My only goal in classic is purchasing my epic mount the moment I ding 60. For sure fishing is perfect for holy priests waiting for invites, but most people hate fishing.. I just found it quite easy alongside watching movies. As they predict MC will be beaten within weeks, the demand for nightfin will be there pretty fast
@Thelondonbadger botting is bannable yes, easy to discover even on private servers. No need for second monitor, just make the game smaller in window mode :)
You forgot to mention that Black Lotus only spawn in ONE PLACE per zone at any time, so if you manage to herb black lotus there wont be any more in that zone until next respawn.
Fishing and cooking are a good money maker/saver combo. If you're cooking your own food, you're not wasting money buying it. Fishing, in addition to the fish used by alchemists and used for cooking, can make money if you focus on the various pools of wreckage (Stranglethorn Vale is a good area, for example). These drop cloth and other stuff, which can be sold on the AH. Also, pools can be a good source of bags. Don't underestimate the value of bags in Classic. A disenchanting/AH monkey can be very profitable, as well. In vanilla, disenchanting was not throttled by character/profession level as it later was. You can park a lowbie alt near an AH. Send all greens to the alt, either AH or disenchant depending on prices. Selling enchanting mats is a steady earner as long as you know the market and have patience. As with any mats, you're looking to profit off the people trying to power level professions or those without the patience to farm their own mats.
Two quick things The 2.5k -3k server pop limit was a design choice this was confirmed by 2 original devs. Second the black lotus was on a timer closer to 2hrs and its something that pservers change as they have larger pops and greater demand for it. Nice guide. I like the engineering one i may try that come classic
video starts out by talking about needing 100 gold to buy a mount at level 40 to help increase leveling speed then goes on to describe buying items to hold for a couple of months to invest in...
New/old player here back to noob status totally forgot how to play and I appreciate your guidance @PunkRat I think your videos are very forward and core focused on the nature of the subject per video. Thank you for taking the time to post these videos.

One thing I did as a horde was farm deadmines for wool to sell on the AH. People loved buying it for the reputation donations. Not sure if it was a thing in wow, but i made a killing in BC
@@dacsus yeah, before that patch they were spawning on a timer that I forget, but it was less than 2 hours every time. And then they made it spawn even faster with that patch you linked. Not really sure what you tried to prove there lol
I went with tailoring / enchanting. Got to 225 asap, I was the first to post a 12 slot bag on the AH and ....... it took 2 days to sell it at 70% off the initial price. Got jebaited thinking bags would be something everyone wants, but turns out people were holding on to their gold. Oh well
i'll go fishing and cooking, and do skinning for free gold + tailoring for bags i guess. I want to go mining + engi, but i fear that i won't be able to get ore fast enough at the start of a server to get my gnomish death ray ready for STV :p
About the black lotus for the flasks. if it works like back in vanilla, it will be one hour respawn in each of the diffrent areas which it can spawn in and only one can be up at the time in each zone
Problem is though due to this video the supply of some of these items are going to sky rocket, demand will stay the same but the price is going to be slashed for people to be able to get a quick bit of gold. If inflation happens and everybody gets richer it might contradict what I just said, but the chances of that happening is zero to none.
Dreadmaul Hold in the Blasted Lands is nice for a Rogue. Loads of Mageweave cloth, 3 chests spawn every 10-15 mins, you can sneak by Grol The Destroyer if you pull the Ogre Mage (to your left when you enter) that always spawns near the chest inside. If you have the quest for the fragment's the drop rate is pretty good. Send most of them to an alt for Disenchant. Mojo the Twisted also spawns here in the entrance and he's pretty easy, always has a decent Green.
klavier285 ya i don't remember that cancerous gameplay in vanilla, of course i wasn't doing ti so maybe it happened, i don't think addons were as big and varied as they are today, was tbc before i used any addons!
@@Punkrat tipsout has a video called 15 things we know will change or something along those lines. Retail had 4h respawn iirc on black lotus, but nost team changed it.
@Steve Sherman Most guides seem to agree on the 1hr with a +/- time on top to add some randomisation. Most likely to be getting 20 per zone per day if people are farming the living heck out of it, and they will be doing. 140 flasks a week is going to make for some heavy competition and solid money making >:)
Respawn and nodes on Mangos scripted servers (incl Northdale, Nostalrius etc) is way too high. The change was done to allow the massive use of flasks. The usage of flasks on classic will most likely be more like how it was in retail vanilla.
Great tips! Thank you for your video! However, there is a contradiction in them -> In the beginning you mention two gathering professions -> then making the iron grenades, which requires engineering. So should you go for two gathering proffs or mining engineering? :)
I would suggest mining and engineering. You can make the money like he mentioned but also make really cool things with engineering that you can't buy from others.
in classic you can only track 1 thing at a time so mining AND herbalism isn't advised. setting up a twink won't be high priority because theres no battlegrounds on a "Fresh" vanilla server. So youd probably be better off saving any twink items until there is. Might sell for more
And there were no twinks anyway - you cant stop leveling, there si no NPC for that. But yea, as alt it is possible. But why? Be a douche in BGs to players who hasn't gear as you? Vanilla AV was best BG anyway, why waste a time on low WSG?
I just cornered the copper scene on my server and it cost me basically nothing. I'm also controlling most of the gems and a bunch of other crafting mats. I have now jacked up the prices(they've been ridiculously low, demand is high and supplies are low because people have to fight over nodes). Even if I don't sell everything tonight that's fine, I'm going on a trip for a week and the market will stabilize in that time. I only need a few things to sell but it is possible they all will. There's tons of people leveling black Smithing on my server. I just want my mount.
Just saying at the start of a new toon, look up to see if there are any weapons crates in the area you are leveling. worth to check these out , items sell for 15s to 20s silver or might be a weapon to use later. I looted four boxes of them in 3 hours and made over 1 gold junking them. might not sound like a lot but that buys a lot of your starting skills
Irrelevant. Meaning skills that are worthless, dont take them. If you consider eyes of the beast a need for leveling idk what your idea of a hunter is. Dismiss pet, jump down, recall your pet.
lol everyone and their mothers will be going tailor just for bags so don't expect to make much of a killing. The ones i see making killings will be enchanters
You grind for it in places like mara. It's one of the reasons so many people want to get to max level as quickly as possible so they can just grind up gold and buy all the twink stuff and good mats when they are dirt cheap because no one has any gold to buy anything yet.
@@kanekane1265 i got good money and a decent amount of boe to sell. It was a bitch as a rogue to do the initial clearing before waiting foe individual respawns. I actually got 2 and 1 of them dropped in 15 mins vs the hour+ for the 1st one.
u're gonna get ur mount at lvl 40.. don't worry. it's really hard to screw this up. All u have to do is invest 1-3 hours grinding and u'll probably have plenty of leftovers also. But generally speaking, just 1 single prof out of skinning-mining-herbalism is going to be enough. People are making it sound way harder than it actually is. I was 12 years old back in vanila, i had 0 knowledge about the game, and i still got my mount at lvl 40 just cus i had skinning. And tbh.. i even bought some items from AH.. and ofc i was learning EVERY skill from the trainer. It's not that hard trust me...
Tip 1: Enjoy the game, the journey, the lore, the class you play (and alts), and stop worrying about min/maxing and reaching end-game. Tip 2: Find a guild that is friendly, grown-up and preferably has a large player base of Vanilla WoW veterans. Be a helpful and giving guild member and you will be rewarded in so many ways... Tip 3: Do tips 1 and 2...
I'm the typical min max at other games like diablo 3 or Destiny 2, but i will straight enjoy the fuck out of classic without wasting time with the tips above. I can farm enough gold later.
The issue is every other dude that's rolled gathering professions is competing for all the same nodes you are, and the ENTIRE server population is in the same starting areas as you are. Good luck trying to mine copper in Elwynn forest with 2000 other nerds trying to mine.
Black lotus has a couple hour respawn time and yes there may be a lot of spawn points but only, a few will be up at any one time in retail so good luck camping the same spot for black lotus
you're correct. i've always found they're usually within eyesight of each other though. So track herbs, when you pick one glance around and you'll probably see a ore node nearby as well. And i say track herbs because they're usually tougher to see than an ore node
I think Tailoring/Enchanting will be a good prof to level at launch. They leverage off each other and if you need to you can buy mats off others for cheap. I will definetly level cooking/fishing, I made most of my gold on Nost from selling fish and food.
Enchanting is very expensive to lvl and most of the profit comes from having either rep rewards or rare drops. so I'd highly recommend you get some guild help to level it and collect those rare enchantments.
back in day i was the fire resistance potion maker on my server. i wasnt the only one with it but i bought the fuck out of fire elementals always any price and i owned the fire resist potions. had 5k gold and in TBC went strait to epic mount to gank everyone at level 70. was some pretty fucking awesome times ganking all thanks to alchemy in vanilla. was like one of the only people with epic flying mount and had it second i hit 70.
Playing market has everywhere and always the biggest potential ''gold'' gains, I mean in a sense that is how the richest people got rich and how they keep getting richer. Even more in MMORPGs because people are not as careful or serious about their in game money, so the competition and skill barrier is lower Also you forgot the very popular method - pretending to be a girle while playing with female character and looking for ''sugar daddy'' WoW is really very inclusive community :D Timbermaw rep might be the most farmed space in wow vannila, getting the quest done about killing some of them was already huge pain, i can't imagine farming them alongside 100 others doing the same at the same time
If addons are cheating then people have literally been doing it since 2004. Addons are a part of WoW and have been since the beginning. Have fun doing anything without a threat meter because that's "cheating" right? Don't say dumb things. All a gathering helper addon does it place a marker on your map as to where you stumbled across a node during your play, it doesn't let you track two things at once.
At any point in my previous comment did I say anything about being able to track two things at once? Perhaps read the comment before responding next time. Also if you think addons will get you banned then wow I really have no idea what to tell you. bye.
Not sure if you have much experience in this department, but I'd love to see a video about getting ahead of the levelling curve at launch (besides just playing a ton)
Most people I see in the comments wanna try to get ahead of the curve. Considering that there are people like me with 10 years of vanilla experience, you don't stand much of a chance. Also, why would you want that? If you're within the average range everything is easier to find, tanks, healers, items etc. If you still wanna hit 60 asap (which will be boring for at least 3-5 weeks), learn your stuff. Quests, routes, grinding/farm spots. All this info is available to all players though, so your best bet is either a better execution, more /played or a fast leveling class (mage, druid, hunter). Again, hitting 60 asap shouldn't be your primary concern, esp. if you haven't played Vanilla before. I've been waiting for Blizz Vanilla for a decade, I sure as hell gonna enjoy every fucking minute of it.
@save animals If you plan on making an alt or two(I'm an altoholic).. one thing I do is get them to an inn(for rested xp).. and use them as either banks or profs or both and play them whenever you get bored of main.. only level them for as long as they have their 2x xp from resting.. and you should be able to get quite a few easy levels on multiple toons every day with minimal effort. For some that's too much of a headache, which it can be, but I enjoy it. And it's a nice way to get a feel for each classes strengths and weaknesses, imo.
@kevin wall Considering my personal best at 5d 4h, which is slightly slower than Joana's inofficial world record, I don't see how you wanna be so much faster. Also, lol hunter pvp.
How do we acquire the science on what items to flip in this manner? For people who have not played pservers and cant remember vanilla, there is no way to know what items will be in high demand later on... and then one might think, what if this is a gamble.... it's costly to through 50 gold into investment of items that will give a pay off months later?
Your content is legit. I’m telling all my friends to check out your page, I hope you keep growing your viewer base. Keep up the great content. I’ve played this game on and off for years and consider myself an advanced player but I still learn from you every video
Step 1: Roll a class that gets free mount Step 2: Spend all that gold you save at 40 on SFK daggers Step 3: Sell the daggers at 60 and buy epic mount with the profits
Okay, serious question here. If one of these twink items drops...Everyone are free to need right? I mean noone is gonna need them for using them while lvling . And everyone "need" money. So these items are just a must need for everyone right? it's not considered ninja..
akhs denlew If your party has a rogue I expect him to argue otherwise. It’s a bit like needing on a high-value recepie for a profession you don’t have but a teammate does. People do that often but it causes many fights.
Hey, thanks for the tips, but do you have any idea if in retail will be able to do the same farm as in private servers, i mean the maraudon solo farm with a hunter?? i hear thats the best gold making method for a hunte, to get around 40-80 gold an hour with anyone bothering you......btw asuming crafting the granedes only procs 2 wich would vendor for 10 silver, wont it take like 10000 iron and cloth just to get the 100 gold?? thats insane, i dont know how long will it take you to farm that, and lets not forget how many more you will need for the 1k gold.
I know that mara will be different in classic since the values are different on private servers.. but how much different?? no idea. Could be nearly identical, could be completely different. I hope it still works, though. xD
im a bit confused about the black lotus part. wasnt black-lotus soulbound? like wasnt alch during real vanilla so i wouldnt know, but on elysium and nostalrius it was 100% soulbound.
@Thelondonbadger My point was that if they are going to switch from bop to boe in classic, if you plan on farming them as a non-alchemist and then selling them when they stop being bop, you will make a lot less than if you had been farming them and making flasks. I do want to mention that I stopped playing on Northdale about 2 months after they stopped being bop, and towards the end the price was starting to go back up. I am guessing that the market got flooded for a brief time when all the folks that were hoarding them started selling them.
Jesus lmao. Did you even watch the video? He was talking about WHY herbalism is lucrative, BECAUSE of the flask formula. Nothing was said of selling the Formula. Wtf dude.
Well i talked about farming rep for formulas and selling them like hotcakes, was asking because it sounded like he ment that you could sell them on AH, I might be wrong though
How exactly do you make bank with mining + herbs? Just sell everything on the AH? Are there particular ore and herbs that are good money I know you mention Black Lotus but you won't have access to that pre 40
Arcane Crystals are eternally valuable, due to their connection to arcanite bars (thunderfury, sulfuras, and more.) as guilds start to build them, their prices will spike pretty hard.
Don' those goblins out near where the shredders you mentioned also have a chance to drop the Necromancer Leggings? Really solid epic quality cloth caster pants.

I don’t think you foresaw the economies being meh, at best, because of layering. It is what it is. Makes the game a bit easier, but I think the economy on most servers is still being built.
in vanilla i was a mage and let me tell you i couldnt make hardly any money selling food rarely with portals if people desperate. everyone wants food and water but wont pay half vendor costs
i heard that the spawn timer for black lotus i more lik 2 hours on classic wow! this is one thing which private server got totally wrong, maybe on purpose dont know
I can't see black lotus camping being good unless you have another account just camping the spawns tbh takes to long and is very limited 10 spawn locations and can only spawn in 1
That was private server spawns. In vanilla there were a maximum of 2-3 spawning spots for black lotus. They increased the spots for Nostalrius/Elysium/LH etc. to decrease Mafia viability.
@@Bollibompa yeah 10 spawns total like I said? and they can only spawn in 1 of those spawns at a time as someone who is 60 in classic can also confirm although layering changes that
@@facehugger8995 Yeah. On Nostalrius it was something like 15 nodes or more per zone. No respawn rate with always one up but at random nodes. With layer-abusing now being diminished it's not really viable as a method.
Unfortunately Classic and Vanilla are going to be 2 different animals. At the beginning no one knew what the fuk was best for what. Classic on the other hand has potentially no learning curve at all. Trouble with a boss get a guide, cannot find an npc look at tou tube. I don't think classic will touch vanilla. It was about discovery, adventure, discomfort and grind grind grind. Most people will half arse it just to get to 60 and then find out it was about the journey not the end . China is gonna make a shit load of cash from this and Blizzard will laugh and do nothing.

@Thelondonbadger oh you bring me back to the good old days. I don't know how it's like on retail now, but I didn't see it on the bigger private realms
Every TIME I see a UA-camr pass a chest that could be looted my inner goblin screams for mercy
I spend all my money on food and drank
Me too.
Oh wait, you guys are talking about in the game.
Two quick things
The 2.5k -3k server pop limit was a design choice this was confirmed by 2 original devs.
Second the black lotus was on a timer closer to 2hrs and its something that pservers change as they have larger pops and greater demand for it.
Nice guide. I like the engineering one i may try that come classic

My plan is to get a rogue to 49 ish and spend all my /played preventing ppl from leveling in STV and yes gnomish death ray is an integral part of that
About the black lotus for the flasks. if it works like back in vanilla, it will be one hour respawn in each of the diffrent areas which it can spawn in and only one can be up at the time in each zone
Problem is though due to this video the supply of some of these items are going to sky rocket, demand will stay the same but the price is going to be slashed for people to be able to get a quick bit of gold. If inflation happens and everybody gets richer it might contradict what I just said, but the chances of that happening is zero to none.
XD
Dreadmaul Hold in the Blasted Lands is nice for a Rogue. Loads of Mageweave cloth, 3 chests spawn every 10-15 mins, you can sneak by Grol The Destroyer if you pull the Ogre Mage (to your left when you enter) that always spawns near the chest inside. If you have the quest for the fragment's the drop rate is pretty good. Send most of them to an alt for Disenchant. Mojo the Twisted also spawns here in the entrance and he's pretty easy, always has a decent Green.
As a horde u should sell ports in kargath
Late game yeah not early game
Hopefully Blizz randomizes black lotus spawns, instead of static spawn points that can be camped.
no changes
Cant tell you how many times I picked a black lotus with someone afk right next to it. Camping a variable 2 hour respawn is tedious.

The usage of flasks on classic will most likely be more like how it was in retail vanilla.
will you be able to get the lionheart helm recipe in phase 1?
Thorium brotherhood give fire resist enchants recipes on classic?
in classic you can only track 1 thing at a time so mining AND herbalism isn't advised.
setting up a twink won't be high priority because theres no battlegrounds on a "Fresh" vanilla server.
@@dacsus Battleground experience didn't exist until WotLK, so twinks were very much a thing.
You grind for it in places like mara. It's one of the reasons so many people want to get to max level as quickly as possible so they can just grind up gold and buy all the twink stuff and good mats when they are dirt cheap because no one has any gold to buy anything yet.

u're gonna get ur mount at lvl 40.. don't worry.
it's really hard to screw this up.
I can farm enough gold later.

can't track nodes and herbs at the same time in vanilla, no?? kinda makes that combo not so good, correct me if i'm wrong
you're correct. i've always found they're usually within eyesight of each other though. So track herbs, when you pick one glance around and you'll probably see a ore node nearby as well. And i say track herbs because they're usually tougher to see than an ore node
Or you make a macro so everytime you jump it switches between tracking herb/mining. Could work annoying tho
macro it, changes every sec/2/3 sec whatever you want. All auto.
question.. if you played in classic.. and did all this stuff already.. will you still have it.. or is this fresh new server have to redo everything??
Your old characters from OG vanilla WoW may still exist in retail, but WoW Classic will be a completely fresh start for everyone.
Enchanting is for morons.. is one of the WORSE professions for making gold actually...

Not sure if you have much experience in this department, but I'd love to see a video about getting ahead of the levelling curve at launch (besides just playing a ton)
That is about it besides quest whole forming dungeon groups and always log out in an inn...

Soulbound until ZG patch I think in vanilla / private servers, after that its boe
On Northdale, Flask of Supreme power were selling for 130-150g for the 2 months prior to BL becoming non-bop. After that the price dropped to 60-80g

That is 2-3 per zone and something like 10 total in the whole game. Maybe this was what you were thinking about.
