I know this is a repeat video from years past, but I was trying to accomplish a few things I did not mention in the video. One, it was my first video without braces and wearing these plastic retainers in my mouth, so I wanted to see how that went. Second the video editing software I use (Abobe) just updated to the 2025 version and no longer will sync the audio to the video with the format I was recording in, so I had changed some settings on my camera to record in a different format that it seems to sync up ok. And third it was what I had time to record today 🤷🏼♂
-Eric O.
My son gets his braces off today told him better wear your retainer
You used brake cleaner without a sound effect?!?!?!?! SHAME ERIC! SHAME!
Astro 1822 version 2 I’ve had mine for 1 year the thing is a beast
I’m pretty sure your old video is what prompted me to subscribe. My 2011 Corolla had three bad bearings in only a little over a year and the Goodyear station just kept replacing them under warranty instead of letting me pay for OEM Toyota bearings. Unfortunately, that car ended up crushed in an EF4 tornado but there was every reason to believe I would need another bearing soon.
Stop licking your teeth, you will go blind.
spray panting the chrome socket black is next level trolling Dr. O I highly approve.
😏
At least it won't come apart and go in his eyeballs now.
@@crasher88 YOU WANTED IMPACT YOU GOT IT BABY
gave it the good ole craigslist rebuild
😅
"Spray the Brakleen like you're not buyin' it."
Such profound advice.
I literally chuckled out loud.
And there was no sound effects with that can of brakleen either. what gives?
@@roberthicks4314 Eric, you SAY you are using brake cleaner, but how am I to know for sure?
That quote should be on an SMA t-shirt!!!
Something is wrong with that can of brake. Cleaner ,need to take it back.
Loved that comment!! Reminded me of a field Sgt who told me I needed to get to calls quicker - "drive that patrol car like you stole it..."
I been a "Professional" mechanic for over 30 years but I still learn tricks from you that make life suck much less.
Eric, no need to apologize for a “repeat” video, we will watch anything you put out brother! Keep em coming!
Agreed .
Son of a Buick...I spent literally hundreds of dollars on impact sockets. Eric just saved me a bunch of money in the future. I
The key to making them last is to clean them good and use a good quality paint. Otherwise, they will turn back to chrome quickly.
Son of a Chrysler.
I'm just here for the free entertainment. I'll watch repeats every day.
Spray painting the socket? Classic!!! 👍🏻😄
Thanks, Mr. O, I just converted all of my wrenches to impact wrenches. I'm heading to the silverware drawer now. 😂
As I lay in a hospital bed because of a motorcycle accident thanks for the laugh at the beginning I needed that.
Get a car. Bikes are too dangerous. You got your warning from above! Feel better
I do enjoy watching competent professionals do a job with good tools that would take me hours in the rain in the apartment complex parking lot.
That's what battery impacts are for.
If I can do it you can do it, biggest lie ever.
In the rain and snow 😂
No Mrs O? No Luna? No lawnmower guy? No cracked frame? I've got nothing. Commenting to appease the mighty algorithm. Thanks for the videos, Mr O. Stay safe out there.
That ball joint was loosey goosey, he's a hack gonna let that person die!!! What an amateur 😂😂😂😝
Started watching Eric when I was looking for some tips on replacing the front wheel bearing on my 07 Corolla. 6yrs later, I still look for his vids daily.
watching you gives my spirits a lift after receiving some bad news....thank you....good job
Congratulations on the braces. The "re-tooling" of that socket had me rolling! Thanks again, Mr. O. Just before you hit that nut with the 1 1/4" socket I thought "You didn't paint it!"
The flat black is torque rated.
I am not older. Watching you keeps me young.
Eric O looking fine in his new Swag and brace free. Great video as always. Love the instant impact socket mod.
Even has a hammer side
Spray painting the socket, brake line catching the caliper, you were on a roll! Great video, sound is excellent. Thanks again!
Wow...personalized Wilbert's swag AND a lesson on how to turn any socket into a Harbor Freight "impact" socket? SMA is the gift that keeps on giving!
Guy is never boring!Good job!
The part of the video where you were just unloading the brake cleaner, I said to myself, "He is spraying that like an employee vs an owner." Then you followed with basically the same comment. I am 😅😅😅 my behind off. Great video!!!
As a southerner I'm fascinated by the condition of your customers vehicles. I just retired a 2001 Suburban, and it went to a family who will most likely get 5-10 years out of her. If I lived there I would invest in a fluid film Spayer for sure.
Thanks for all the teaching you do Eric. May God bless you, Mrs. O and your whole family.
That's amazing. In the rust belt, that Subaru would have been on its way to China around 2008, to become cheap kitchen appliances.
@@larryfine4498👈🏼more like halfass chinesuim sockets😂
Love the new Eric shop vocabulary with slams against the crying experts!! You're the man!!
Nice to see Wilberts has finally sponsored the SMA garage with some nice banners and a lovely winter type warm weather gear!!! Keep up the amazing content and say hello to the lovely Mrs O !!!!
I enjoy your skill and dedication to quality work and customer service very much.
I did construction for many years and I wear glasses and I can’t count the number of times something had hit them so please, please .please get some safety glasses before your have an incident and regret it
I just replace the entire hub cause I'm more lazy than cheap sometimes. 😎 Thanks Eric!
😂😂😂 mr.O is comedian love the spray paint on the chrome socket classic move no doubt. Thanks for all the knowledge you drop on us and all the time you make us laugh. 👍👍👍
I will never critique your work . Keep up the good work
LMMFAO, 1:52 in, and I can't stop laughing 😆
"We're just going to massage it a little"
Busts out the Snap-On.
Oh and the blacked out chrome socket.
Well done Eric.
Eric, It is always worthwhile to be reminded of what my 2005 car would look like if I did not bother to take it to Krown every year. 😉
14:48 "while you're at the optimal viewing angle" ... proceeds to block the view with hat. Love it! 😂 (I have to give you a hard time Eric ... if no one does, you'll feel so lost down the day!)
I have a whole drawer full of thin wall impact sockets. What a great tip!
I think this is the South Main Auto clip / moment of the year. Making your own impact socket. . When you first started I thought what is he doing.
Good job, Eric! If only you said "don't breathe" a few seconds earlier... I actually coughed when all that dust came at me 🙂 Such is the power of suggestion!
SMA, Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics, and Royalty Auto Service are my top three
speaking of old episodes, i watched a crank-no start video for s10 that was 8 or 9 years old. now i know to check to see if the coil is getting power before calling the tow truck. thanks current eric o. for being past eric o. when i needed you!
You make a hard job look east when you have the right tools and you know how to use them.🙂
I stop everything when I see an SMA alert! Thank you NJ
Love this guys Channel laid back cool claim & Collective, been working on cars for 15 as a DIYER. Millions of people known mechanics out their claiming you should never use chrome sockets on a Impact, look its made out of the same material its just thinner, Impact are thicker & softer. Can Chrome sockets break of course they crack, the same way an impact socket can crack. Just use your tools in a safe way don't be hammering away at nut for an hour & you will be just fine, Y'all stay safe & GOD BLESS.....
Congrats on the braces removal! I remember that day vividly. Felt my mouth had miles of acreage in there. Of course, it makes one more confident when smiling but it really does feel good to have straight teeth. Looks like coming up on 1 million subs soon too. Another congrats will be coming! Oh, and loved the socket painting tip!
now I know how impact sockets are made ..... THUMBS UP!
Eric, you have all of the neat tools to make the repairs seem so easy. Those who always question everything you do usually don't do automotive work. Great job.
I trust E’s feel for torque when he trusts it due to the 20 plus years of rinse and repeat, however I have to have torque specs for every nut and bolt I touch when I work on my vehicle or a family/friend’s.
Double edged sword for me watching EVERY single SMA video as I do….love the videos, but hate how bad I want to go spend money on every damn tool he uses. Next video he’s use the damn pliers I must have. 😂
Luv me sum SMA video ❤
Glad to hear about your braces. The whole process had to be a struggle, ranging from discomfort and frustration to pain. On with life.
That was some high tech metallurgy technique going on with that chrome socket to impact socket conversion. You got some savvy Eric. The things I learn from the Yoot Ube! 8^) Cheers!
You're a funny man, Eric. I do love that.
I felt like that socket worked even better after you painted it black.😂
IDK why but pressing in U joints and wheel bearings makes me feel so accomplished.
Eric, been watching your videos for years. Your timing is impeccable. Not a mechanic or even much of a DIY'er. Looking at doing my wheel bearings on my 99 Grand Prix this weekend. Figured what the heck... if you can do in, so can I !!!
I do love the entrepreneurial spirit of Wilbert’s U-pull-it in Bath. A small partnership with a local successful UA-camr and baam, you’re selling merch to customers all over the country. I have to wonder how many phone calls to their office from random people asking if they sold merch before they gave in to the pressure.
Hello Eric O. (Tee shirt Man), excellent opening.⚙️🔩🔧🧰❤️👏🏽We applaud you sir. All channels on U-Tube are going through changes and updates. Bless your heart for having no braces.🫶🏽This digital transformation upgrade is causing much grief on all levels of living. Impact socket…paint it black…smoothe beans for sure 👍🏽 and the groove…cleaner gets out the rust. Thank you so much for all…the pointers💯💵🌤️. Get those glasses sir, protect your eyes 👀. Be well Eric, 🗣️see ya 👋🏽 on the next episode 🎥.
Not a mechanic here but I have taken old bearing outers and shaved their diameter down on the bench grinder to use to push new bearings in without the old bearing outer binding in the hole. Thanks Eric Love ya work, love ya outlook on things.
Its pure entertainment and knowledge. Livin the dream!
Eric I never knew you could push out a bearing like the way you did. I guessed it was going to the shop press.
Glad to see the sarcasm alive and well.
Always love the humour, makes the job go better, right?!
Excellent description of how to do car repairs, especially on vehicles from corrosive environments.
Since you gave us the quick tip on making an impact socket I'll give you one. Instead of making a notch in the puller or doing what you did by using a chisel to pound it out to remove it. Just use your grinder to remove about half millimeter from the outside wall of the cup and it will never get stuck inside again. I used a 1" wide bench grinder and just made 1 smooth rotation around the front edge and it was perfect since that's about as far into the hub it goes.
I'm an millwright and notorious for modifying my tools to reach hard areas to get the job done,so that you're viewers get ubset if You're chromium socket.
Tell them to get real.
Armchair Warriors.
Great job Eric 👍 love the opportunity to learn something new.
Thanks for the video. You is the "Rust Whisperer"
What wonderful trolling there Eric! Whatever you post is worth watching.
Congratulations for getting your braces off! It did such wonders for my kids I actually smiled when handing over the payments as they did a stellar job.
Since I only just started watching you within the last 6 months, repeats aren’t the issue. I love how you troll haha
I run the Michelin Cross Climate 2s on my cars. So nice to hear you approve of them. That's a legitimate endorsement!
I had some Cross-Climates on our ‘12 Camry. Only got 28K out of them. I understand there’s a 2nd gen version out now.
So, can I go out to Wilbert's site and order a "Not Eric O." shirt? Maybe "Not Worthy To Be Eric O." would be more appropriate. :)
Nice sweatshirt
Having seen the project farm video on PB blaster, it sounds like you are absolutely spot on about it only being there to make you feel better.
"older" But
It never gets old Mr. O
I replaced these on a Pontiac Vibe which is essentially the same vehicle. I didn't have to tool to pull the hub, so I took the upper bolts out and removed the entire spindle and used my press to do the job. Watched your earlier video to see the process.
We all watch reruns, nothing wrong in that.............
Like always, Good Job Boss.
The Lord Be With You
I just thought that same thought last week Eric. Everyone is a expert. By the way. Crome sockets can take a beating
Enjoyed the birth of the impact socket.
No way, I did one of these a couple months ago. It was a Canadian car, so the rust wasn't as bad as yours, but certainly wasn't a Florida car. Awesome refresh!
Life is so much easier when you have a few tools for the job. 👍👍👏🏻
The classic Eric O shirt , Done a few bearings myself saw a few guys forget the snap ring.. And couldn't figure it out .. Thanks MK
Good to see you are in a good mood. Nice one,as usual.
bought one those harbor freight specials wheel bearing kits several years ago, best tool for those press in bearings hands down ... beats having to use the shop press by a long shot
I think the difference between Eric O and the rest is that he makes them look clumsy. Minimum wasted movement. Loved the video.
Another great South Main Auto Video!
First two minutes into a video absolute freakin legend this is the entire reason I watch/LOVE this channel.... Learn a thing a two also ❤❤😍😍
Those “Impact” sockets are LIT!
No engine size, no brake cleaner noise! I'm calling the shop!
You gave out the secret for the impact sockets sold on eBay!
I sure hope that paint wasn't glossy! Flat is the only appropriate color for impact sockets! 😅
Thanks, Mr O!
Great job Josh on the tires! Only seen him in one video.
Eric O: Enjoy the lack of retainers! Thanks for thinking of the SMA fans, as the previous video was kinda like watching a late-night dubbed Japanese Godzilla flick. And thanks for taking care of that chrome socket - SO much better! Enjoy sportin' that Wilber'ts U-Pull-It-of-Bath hoodie, you wear it well...
Eric O., you've been entertaining me less that six years but it still seems like a long time. I don't think I've heard a repeat joke so I suppose another 10 to 12 years watching would be justified. Thanks for Sharing! 🙃🙂
Oh boy ... I'm so excited. I'm 25 seconds into the video, but I already know that I am going to love it. Videos with ugg dagga-ing going on, pressing of stuff, and other get-your-hands-dirty mechanic stuff from you, Eric, are the absolute best! Thank you for always being here Eric. Now, I'm off to the SMA swag store because my black SMA t-shirt got some battery acid on it and now my wife won't let me wear it anymore.
Eric, All your shows make my day, but always use Flat Black on Chrome, I understand you use what you have. Take care and happy deer hunting
By leaps and bounds one of the better channels and this latest leg pulling was just plain funny. Be careful not to get hit in the teeth. Only a man who has used an inpact swivel socket knows what this means. Believe me I know after having dodged many a flying swivel in my years in the trade. Safest thing to do is keep you other hand wrapped around them when using them. Prevents expensive dental work.
Congrats on the "braces-delete" she'll run a lot smoother now!
Love when you go to Wilberts. I wish I had a junkyard like that where I live.
I used a cheap universal press and pull sleeve tool kit (looks like about 27 different MM size deep well sockets/cups) with 4 threaded rods with bearings , from the bay about 60. . The kit had the correct sizes to fit the back side of the front knuckle and allow the bearing inside the cup on a 99 corolla pulling and installing the wheel bearings . I tightened the rod up and bumped both sides of the cup(not the rod) with a hammer to start the bearing out , alignment to pull square is important . The kit also correctly fits my harley clutch basket bearing . I had the knuckles off(struts) and hooked one side of the knuckle on the edge of a 6x6 block and held the other side , and used a hammer and socket to drive the hub out of the bearing , comes right out easy . You can tear up a anvil using it incorrectly , just like any tool .
You know we love wheel bearing videos
I LOVE your "new" impact socket! LOL
Eric another good video You're in top form today keep up the good work sir
OMG. If I had only know the secret forty plus years ago I never would have broken a bunch of Chrome Craftsman 3/8 inch drive 6 point deep well sockets and 1/2 to 3/8 inch adapters. Always had two or three in the box and then would go to Sears and get the free replacements. Taught this old dog a new trick.
Literally just did the same wheel bearing a hour ago. Same side also.. also love the impact socket 😜
Lol the chrome socket,Eric! Good one! You forgot the Big Nasty music for old times sake.
Hahaha hahaha never thought of painting a chrome socket. Very funny Mr O
