Yates made 2 big mistakes. #1 He pulled the front for the entirety of the final part of the race. #2 He let Pogacar to be out if his sight behind him allowing Pogacar to have the ability to start his sprint from behind so that by the time Adam saw him accelerating, Pogacar was already going at least 5 MPH faster.... Pogacar just blew by Yates and there was no time to recover and catch Pogacar..
Adam yates is begind on gc its common sense that he would have to pull during the climb. Pogacar would be an idiot if he pulled even for a second during this climb.
@@markopodganjek845 so you don't think that he could have possibly won or been closer at the finish line crossing moment had Pogacar not jumped him when he started to sprint? I get what you're saying about not really mattering if he gets first or second... Had Yates been able to be closer when the spring started, maybe he could have controlled the lines going into the turns and been able to pull out a win...
@@bohachino yes, but you have to agree if he had pulled less and been in a better position when Pogacar started the sprint, he may have been closer at the finish line and had more energy to be a bit more explosive in the final sprint, don't you think?
When the Hispanic riders are at front, the English don't place their name on the screen. When the Europe as or English speaking are at front, they Do place their name on the display screen!
Poor tactics by Yates, not only did he fall asleep at the critical time, but he could & should have forced P to pass him before that. P wouls have pushed the pace for maximum time difference & Yates would have jumped P for the win. Yates's physical ability is sublime here & in many races, but he lets himself down all too often in lack of tactical nonse.
Yeah agreed. I think he's better the longer and higher a climb goes. That attack he made at 5k to go just did Pogacar's work for him in paring down the group. Gotta make the guy leading the race do the work.
Not being a Froome fanboy, you have to understand that not all races are set as a priority. For instance, it's normal for someone aiming to perform well 3-4 months from now to cut back on intensity at this point in the season... We all remember Nibali getting dropped in those early season races and ending up winning classics & a gran tour couple months later ;)
@@jacobbbbbbbbbb very true, but you are talking about a prime Nibali as opposed to a just out of 2 years broken femur rehab 35 year old Froome.... So not quite the same.... Froome does not have the SKYneos days where he can just ride the magic carpet behind 5-7 elite, world, Olympic and national pro cycling champions and then ramp it up in the last 10k. Dude was dropped as soon as the racing got serious today on a 10k 6% average finishing monoclimb after a pan flat run in.... Hardly the Tourmalet or Galibier/Croix du Fer/Alpe d'Huez in terms of difficulty... Also he is the highly paid leader of a new team- So it would be good for the lads to see him to be stronger than this, especially considering how good Woods and Martin looked in France last weekend... Remember, this was a man who swore up and down that he was ready for the TdF last year....Then was left for dead in all his races afterwards... I don't think that you should ever completely count out a man who has won all the GTs. But let's be honest, Yates, Tadej and Kuss are already at this super-high level at end February, they all will be targeting the TdF and you KNOW they still have room to improve... And then men like Carapaz are doing huge training rides on a volcano at 4500m, Sosa and Egan are winning bike races on Mt Ventoux, Alaphillipe is riding with his usual panache and Woods is casually dropping 500+Watts on a finishing climb to win a stage in a STACKED field???? Yeah....okay Froome... Sure... It's unlikely that Froome will be able to credibly get to say Tadej's level in the next 16-18 weeks considering that he JUST finished his rehab enough to post some nice rides that a sporty amateur would be proud of on Strava, is 35 and already very, VERY lean... Froome does not have much more potential to improve nor the time to catch up to these men...But time is DEFINITELY catching up with him... Odda are that time will get to its target before Froome gets to his...
I LOVE UAE
WOW I LIKE SOCCER BUT ONE OF MY FAVORITE SPORT IS RUNNING RACE
I COME FROM THE UAE
Yates did a great job. He rode out of the saddle, set the pace, front for most of the time, and overall champion effort!
Yates deserved to win ! He absorbed the headwind.
He tried to win by attacking. But in fact his chance to win Pogacar in this race was zero.
Pogacar could race 40 second faster.
but he lost
@@markopodganjek845 doubt
@@slahudeenhussain5297 you will see. Just observe. He won Tour the France on base of his maintain riding.
And there is 10 times bigger competition.

The real winner of this race is the commentator.
No idea what he's saying, but the enthusiasm makes him much preferable to most English commentators!

Tadej and Adam looked like grown men racing kids. Wow
Perfectly executed! He knows how to recon courses and when to go.
Why did you stopped showing the live feed of the next stages?
That is the result of a decision from the UAE Tour 2021
Una narración impecable, limpia y muy objetiva. Lo único que hizo falta fue el vaso de agua, se estaba ahogando. 😂😂😂
jajajajaja, las imagenes del ciclismo son el lenguaje universal!
The fourth stage was deleted I guess?

He definitely has enough money, probably not an ideal sport to do if your body knows it has no more
