- In this video, I explain and show step by step how to setup your own Custom Welcome Message on Discord using Carl-bot!
A welcome message is what is sent automatically by a bot when a user joins your Discord server. It's quite important if you want your members to feel welcomed!

Great video man, way more helpful than these non talking video's lol, i do have one question though, in my line of the member statues "You are currently the **{ord:{server(humans)}} member of the server!**" when it goes through in discord it still counts the bots, any help?

Great video man! I learned more because you explained the hows and whys of the codes. I got it all and it worked on my server but I just wanna know how could I put gifs from the internet? I tried to copy the link address of the said gif and paste it on the Image url field but it won't work. Any thoughts?

Regarding the GIF, make sure it does end with or contain ".gif" in the URL directly, otherwise it wouldn't be considered a direct image link

Thanks very much for this excellent tutorial. My question is about the {User} command in the Welcome title block (first one after main Welcome Message) which is not splaying a user name. It displays {User). Please advise the fix. Is it case sensitive? Is {User (Mention) } or {User(Proper) } an option in that title block? Everything else seems to be working according to your instructions. Thanks. PS: The server: Socially Driven Music.

I tried to embed a text channel but it says deleted channel?

when i invite someone the welcome message never shows. ive watched the tutorial numerous times yet still nothing shows. how do i get it to show??
make sure you have selected the welcome channel (or whatever channel you want them to see first after joining) but that's in the video so that should be good. in your server settings go to 'widget' and select the channel you want to generate your invitationlink (so that's the channel they will see first). and the last thing you should check is the settings for that specific channel. so e.g. right click on the welcome channel for channel settings and 'permission'. go to advanced permissions, you'll see the everyone role and if you can't see the carl bot role there, select it yourself with the small + sign. select the bot than and give him permissions to 'view channel' & 'send messages'. so now it should work if someone joins the bot is able to send the message. i hope that helps somehow! Just learned all of that since yesterday lmao, got these problems many times

What did you put in the author Icon URL and Thumbnail URL fields?

Hey, I don't know if anyone else is getting this problem, but I did everything in your video but when I go to do !testgreet it doesn't show the welcome text and only the status box? Do you know what's wrong?
What do you mean by "the status box"?
I advise that you join the support server (link in the description of the video of top left of the carl.gg website), and ask in the #welcome-logging channel along with screenshots
@@Asty__ By status box I mean the box that says status above it and in it, it has check marks or x's for what you've done and what you haven't done. I also can't join the support server because you need to verify your phone number and I don't have one
Sometimes when someone joins it shows numbers instead of his nickname
That is a Discord issue related to how fast the client renders what it didn't have the time to cache yet. That's the technical reason and isn't intrinsically due or related to Carl-bot, as it does that with many other bots that have a welcome message feature.
There is no real workaround to it. Discord takes some time to cache new users joining the server, and sometimes the welcome message posts so fast that it happens before the user was cached from Discord. Hope it at least helps you understand why that happens, and that there is basically nothing you can do about it.

Enable developer mode. I show exactly how to do it in my other video, both on PC and mobile.

You may join the support server (link in the description of the video or at carl.gg) and ask your question in the #welcome-logging support channel, including a screenshot of the error message, and especially the content of your welcome message/embed.
You should get a proper answer that solves your current issue :)

I'm confused of how this works. I set up everything but the goodbye message and ban message shows up in the welcome channel.
Make sure you specify the channel each subfeature should post in, and then to press Save.
can custom emoji be added to the welcome embed builder and how?

Make sure you set your welcome channel and saved. Test the response with !testgreet, as shown in the video. If after all this you still encounter issues, please join the support server (link in the description of the video and on the website) and show your settings and ask your question and someone may help you

So humans don’t work anymore is there anyway to not include the bots or is it always going to include the bots, also can I just repeat the same steps for leaving messages and just replace the words
It is sadly always going to include the bots. However, if you *know* your amount of bots and that it's not likely to change often, you could if you want to, use a math block to substract the amount of bots from the number {server(members)} returns.
As for your leaving message, yes you can repeat the same process and use the same blocks and content at wish.

Hi Asty. Great video, helped me out a lot. But I have the issue that the channels I have linked show "#deleted-channel" am I missing something?
Hello techniko, did you copy the right channel ID? Is the channel able to be seen by the newcomer upon them joining the server?
It may also come from Discord not "caching" the channels list as soon as the message is sent, effectively not allowing the user to see the channel. That's the main issues I can think of.
I recommend you join the support server that is in the description of the video or on the Carl.gg website and ask in the #welcome-logging support channel, as someone may know why that happens better than I do.

As the error states, your thumbnail URL embed field is incorrect. Make sure it is either a direct image URL (that includes a file extension such as ".png"), or {user(avatar)}, but nothing else. What do you currently have in that field?
The error shows that you typed something like "{userhttps}" or something. Maybe you spelled {user(avatar)} wrong.
Is there a way to do this but from a mobile phone ? My laptop broke and I haven’t had a chance to get it fixed
It works the same on mobile. Head on the Dashboard on carl.gg on your phone and follow the same instructions.

it doesnt work for me. it always welcoming whole people who join my server but some of them didnt get access to the main channel because they havent verified yet. how to fix it?

@@Nal2000 Then you probably may need a custom command instead. You can't have the automatic welcome message of the feature showed in the video delayed or after something specific. It's a binary logic, it either sends it or doesn't upon a newcomer joining your server.
Is Carl bot a free bot? Or do i have to pay for me to use it in welcome message and reminder message?
Almost everything with this bot is free. It has some Premium features, but welcome messages et reminders are completely free.

If you put something in the Icon URL field, then you need the Name field to have something in it for it to work. Like I said in other comments, it is easier if you provide screenshots of your current setup and ask the question in the official support server. (link in the description above)

These are syntax errors as far as I can see. For example, the error message says that {user{mention}} is invalid, as the word "mention" is a parameter of user, and therefore should be enclosed with parentheses as opposed to curly braces. Be careful about how you typed {user} too; from the error, I'm not sure if you closed it with "}" or not.
If you still get an error after trying to fix that, I advise that you join the support server (link in the description of the video and on the carl.gg website), and ask your question with a screenshot of your welcome message's content, in #welcome-logging.
