0:22 The rush of nostalgia I got man... "Stinks like rotten meat, but it looks like the old deimos base. you landed on the shores of hell, and the only way out is through."
Only after stepping into Exultia did I truly realize how much of a callback Eternal was going to make towards the og games. Hearing the original victory theme gave me the feeling that Doomguy was returning to a land he did not recognize, yet remembered his whole life
the song was known to me,but from a fan youtube series called Arenas, not from 1993 game, played that one once, not more times for several reasons like me actually starting the journey on Doom II:Hell on Earth and maybe also thanks to nostalgia glasses i found that game superior
0:22 is amazing. It just gives me a deep sense of sorrow and abandonment like everything is finished and there is nothing you can do to get things going again. I can’t really explain it. This is just what it feels like for me.
4:48 - 7:06 For me, and I can't explain it, this music sequence just encapsulates Doom Guy. A being eons old, that's now more a force of nature than it is anything else.
If you are wondering why this sounds familiar, it’s because it has the same melody from the track “Victory” in the original DOOM. But only this version gives me goosebumps!
0:22 The sound of regret and despair to what happened in your life. You regret almost every second of that moment. You overthink it. Ponder it, observe any obstacles that come after it. You relive the same day, same hour, same minute for what feels like decades. You question what happened in your reality, and it clicks. 1:05 You understand everything. You understand that moment. What was right, what was wrong, who was wrong, and how the others were right. It stays in your mind, consuming your bitter taste of love and freedom and replacing it with grief, sorrow, irritation. Is this it? Rock bottom, no one to look up to, no one to support, nothing in grasp or sight? No. 3:53 You may hold your head low today, but tomorrow, you will stride and regain your dignity, and live on from that bitter moment in your life. It is all water under the bridge, and *your* life is officially in your hands once more.
I got that right away and immediately got chills. I mean, it's hard to tell stories with instrumental, but this did it VERY well. and a somber one at that.
I think this is still my favorite piece from eternal overall. The atmosphere of the track, and the instruments/sounds used on top of the heavy metal choir…it’s all just incredible.
@@aiharakotokorulesbluerose4170 I also have ears, and the slower tempo of that part is closer to the Doom 64 menu theme than Getting Too Tense. Look up "Doom 64 Main Menu Music" and listen about 22 seconds in. Although it wouldn't surprise me if Aubrey Hodges drew inspiration from Doom 2 for that theme back then. I know Hugo Martin was heavily influenced by Doom 64 for parts of Doom Eternal.
I remember first coming to this stage. I could feel the dread. The loss the world endured. Then.. 0:22 happened. And honestly, I kind of teared up a little. It all just.. crumbled onto me. This conveys a sense of sadness, loneliness, and a bit of despair. The slayer always wins, but those he cares about dont. He has to watch as the people he fought with and for die horrible deaths or worse, become corrupted or transformed against their will. His suffering is Eternal.

I really thought this worked well when I played through Exultia. I hear elements of the Doom 1 victory music, "Getting Too Tense" from Doom 2, and even a hint of "Sign of Evil", but all very subtle.
Beginning in the song sounds like Doom guy just realized the fact that Hell has invaded realm after realm and will never stop. Then the music changes like the Doom guy got even more pissed because of that fact.

Sounds so nostalgic because of that old doom melody, kind of throw back to better times and old victories. Fits the location perfectly.
Yeah, the location and cloudy skies reminds me of Phobos (Knee-Deep In The Dead).
its victory music, but was this a victory doomslayer?
Couldn’t have put it better, well said.
Also Getting Too Tense from Doom II.

1:07 just gives me shivers. Its like the armies of hell are blowing their war trumpets heading into battle.
Or armies of real men taking a stand against the armies of hell, not afraid, knowing that they are stronger than anything hell can throw at them...
Trumpets?

That isn’t a trumpet. It’s a kangling, a flute/horn made from a human femur, typically one from a convict.
