Xenoblade 2 Jin and Amalthus Boss Battle
One thing I grew to appreciate later on was that in one of their earlier encounters, Akhos muses how Rex’s rage towards Vandham’s death is “cliché”, but when Patroka is killed, he reacts the exact same way.
Even the minor villains get good development, this game is great.
Oh my god I played this game three times and never noticed that. That’s incredible development there !
Also after Obrona dies Akos stops using metaphors after showing how her death affected him.

Tch, Akhos was nothing but a pathetic self centered hypocrite. Thankfully he got what he deserved when Amalthus brutally tore out his core crystal.
My only regret is that he didn't also tear that smug shit eating grin right off his stupid face.
This cutscene carries more wait now that I've played Torna the Golden Country. I also used to think "Why does Jin get the final blow?" But now I think Jin deserved to have that last kill for Lora and Haze.

One thimg I don't understand is why Malos introduced himself to Jin again. Did he forget who Jin was or he simply didn't recognize him?

You know a game's story is well developed if you start getting sad when the villains start dying. Also, THE MUSIC! Just the right touch to make a sad cutscene, become heartbreaking.
Doing Cubing Even Amalthus is slightly relatable even though he’s abhorrent.
The end of chapter 8 and the entire chapter 9 actually manage to have you root for the villains as they throw themselves at Amalthus doing all they can to stop him.

Akhos does have a point regarding his and Patroka's relationship. They have the DNA of their drivers, who are siblings, so from that perspective, so are they.

That line from Rex before the Amalthus fight, “We’re gonna break the 500 year curse, right here!” Is actually one of my favorite lines in the game, and this is coming from a guy who hates Rex’s voice acting. That and Jin and Amalthus’s death were two of the best and most memorable parts in the game for me.
Honestly all of the bad guys except Patroka are memorable for me.

Y'know, the first time I saw this guy, I knew I was right to be suspicious. And not because he's Malos's driver or any of that easy foreshadowing shit. Any big religion thing in videogames always raises red flags for me, and the fact that Indol was such a small place with only one location, especially in a Xenoblade game and when put between Mor Ardain and Tantal with literally only one merc mission in terms of introduction, there were so many things that didn't seem right.
Also when I first saw this form of his, the first thing I thought was "Goddamnit Japan". Doesn't help when he's got a move called 'Thousand Tentacles' either.
PyraXadon the main storyline of this game reminds me a lot of Grandia II.
Especially in a Xeno game. The moment I saw him in a preview trailer I knew he'd be a bad guy. If anything Amalthus is pretty sympathetic compared to the Ethos or something.
Lol I knew he was evil from his personality, not counting the whole Malos and him sound the same thing. One of my friends said he was evil because of his fingernails. Smh how did she guess this from his fingernails?! XD

Watching all these character deaths at once..... it hurt so much when you finally learned more about Ahkos, Patroka, Mikhail, and Jin. It all hit me like a rock, but I felt satisfied knowing that Jin finally found true peace, his face says that he is so happy that he will hopefully see Lora again ❤️

Mikhail didn’t die. In New Game+, when you beat amalthus, he can be found in the land of morytha (world tree zone). Whoever talks to him (Tora not included,) he will be the blade of that person. Say Rex talks to him, then mikhail will be Rex’s blade. He is okay as a blade.

i beat him easily without having to knock him in the hole hes not all that hard compared to jin who just straight annoyed me
Amalthus is a perfect villain because of his ties to Mythra, Jin, and the Rest of Torna, as well as opposing Rex's ideals and what could have happened to Rex if he saw himself as a god with the godlike power he posed they are both Aegis drivers but Rex never saw himself as better than anyone. Amalthus saw humans the greed and malice in humanity while Rex see's the good in everyone.Rex doesn't really want to hurt anyone and is willing to put himself in harm's way to help people, and Amalthu is willing to do whatever he needs to get his way no matter who he hurts even himself. The saddest part about Amalthus is how he cried out for the architect as he's dying, how he's lost to religious delusions, that combined with his hatred for the world. His talk about the faces of humanity, and Zeke's line about how "That was... you too wasn't it" shows what makes us human not our greed but our emotional or sides of humanity. "As soon as people are denied something they desire they try to take it by force" Rex took the power to protect by force, through his resolve and growth as a person. And Zeke talking about how sad he looked back then makes me realize he's just a sad child grieving over his Mom maybe if he had a friend like Rex things would have been different if he had someone there for him maybe he would have coped with that loss better. And the way he says he misses his mother shows how he really is just a sad child lashing out of grief a theory I have is that he's going to see the architect to try and revive his mother. Rex is what Amalthus could have been he too lost people but he didn't let that stop him from living his life. Along with the loss of his mother and the divine power brought my Malos that gave him delusions of grandeur, it turned him into the villain he became. Rex coped with his loss probably because of the villages and gramps.
When he met Pyra and later Mythra the power given to him was incredible but he didn't think himself as some god he was still a boy with much to learn. He cared about people he never wanted to hurt anyone he just wanted to help everyone, he was greedy but his will and his friends allowed him to achieve his goal. Not just Pyra and Mythra but the whole group Nia, Dromarch, Tora, Poppi and the others helped him grow and become not just grow as a driver but as a person. The scene where everyone is hitting Rex shows how much they care for him. The group you form in the game are people who truly care about each other. They comfort each other in their times of need and motivate each other when they need it most. It's because of his friends that Rex made it this far, and maybe if Amalthus had friends like that things would have been different.
Amalthus also reminds Klaus of himself when he was performing his experiment, we see this when he’s explaining loss to the party.
Even though he isn't the final boss, I think Amalthus is supposed to be the main villain

Final Fantasy VII’s main villain wasn’t really Jenova. I think it was Hojo.
He is, in a sense. The final boss fight is pretty much mercy killing Malos so that even the last seed of evil planted by Amalthus is cleansed.

Kriss James when Zeke disses Amalthus, it's kinda awkward when he saved Zeke's life.
He saved Zeke only because Zeke reminded him of his mother. He's already got despair of the world and possibly been trying to fulfil his own death wish, in his unique way.

@@justagirlwithamustache9618 Jin preserved her body since her Death. While he tells Torna its a reminder as to why he has to end the world, its more implied that he is still trying to keep the memory of her alive, or not fully being able to let go of her.

Well, he was at the end of his line by that point. It couldve been him seeing her spirit, since she is technically living on thru him. Or it could just be a hallucination based on what Jin thinks she would feel. Either way, she's there to show Jin that she, or the real Lora, is sad that Jin couldnt bring himself live a better life after she passed. Its open to interpretation, but thats my take.

I just beat torna today after beating the main game, I'm curious on how you felt on other scenes like Haze's death and other things if you don't mind me asking
I somewhat carried for Jin when the prequel wasn't around at that time but after playing it all, I care for him a lot. He is one of the most tragic characters in Xenoblade 2. He was a hero till the bitter end. Sure he may he a bad guy in the main game but I felt like his last act was heroic. May he rest in peace with Lora, Haze, Addam, and Hugo.

I came here after reminiscing the unfolded story of Torna's. This even sadder now tbh.
i know the final fight is with malos but me and i'm sure many people say the true main villain is amalthus since he is essentially the driving force behind all of torna's actions especially malos

I just realized something. Instead of the entire universe being changed, the world itself changed into Alrest, and the research center became Elysium. Everything from the research center was still there: Aion, Siren, the Conduit, everything. It’s just that the world that changed. That explained why the Land of Morytha was still there when the first world was recreated into Alrest. There’s also that they also created a parallel world in the process (which was Bionis and Mechonis). By the end of the game (I’m pretty sure everyone got this by know.), both worlds combined to make the New World (which explained why the Bionis was there). I know I’m beating a dead horse here, but I’m mostly doing this for my own understanding. 😅

The worlds didn’t combine, no. When the architect died, the conduit left both this world and Shulk’s. As a last gift the architect parted the cloud sea and directed the Titans to create a new landmass beyond Morytha. In Shulk’s world meanwhile, he used the Monado to create a new world without gods.
Im not sure if the 2 worlds combined again, but if thats true it would be awesome to have a game where the protagonists of both games meet

Am I the only one who sympathizes a bit with Amalthus? Especially when his mother was killed and even almost killed him as a child. We can see that her death was the biggest reason for him to become like this, as we can see how she is the last thing he sees.

The cutscene from 33:15 onwards fully convinced me that this was my favorite game of all time, hands down.

Amalthus' monster form reminds me a lot about Dickson's Titan form during the endgame
It did make me think of Dickson at first, but I don't really see the resemblance. His body figure is similar, but Dickson's true form was multi-colored and a bit ragged looking with wings (at least I think those flapping things on his back are wings), Amalthus's monster form is white and clean with tentacles. It still looks awesome, though.
Dickson was a Giant, like Arglas, not a Titan.

Rex may not have had the best voice actor in the game, but man that scene when he beats Jin right before amalthus comes in is really powerful.
Amalthus always stuck me as a tragic figure. As a religious person myself, I think he would really speak to anyone struggling with their faith. He's not a villain, he just lost his way.
Super Battle Bros he never really lost his faith. He always hated the world, and he believed to be the architect's messenger because the architect did nothing to punish or obstruct his actions.
Indol's teachings helped many people in XC2, such as the refugees, the genuine Indoline who practice their faith, etc. Im wondering who made the Teachings of Indol if Amalthus clearly hated humans so much? Another observation I made is that the reason why Amalthus gets like this is because he hates himself. He hates himself and wishes to take the world down with himself. Kind of like Evangelion if Shinji went bad.
He clearly hates the world, but I don't think its the teachings that made him like that. If anything, I'd say he acolyte/priest/whatever Indol has so he could find purpose and maybe hope in his life. Its that drive that started his power craze. At least that's my analysis
Super Battle Bros we even see in the last memory between Zeke and Amalthus that their is a shred of humanity (the irony LOL) in Amalthus, as Zeke says "was that before also you?". I just don't get why people so blindly hate both modern Torna and Amalthus, they clearly were meant to be sympathetic villains.
Oh for sure. I would daresay that Xenoblade goes out of its way to make there no truly evil antagonists. Malos, Jin, Amalthus, everyone became the way they did from a line of causality that can be tracked back to the flaws of humanity. Greed. Arrogance. Vengeance. Etc. Its all excellently shown, and its just mind blowing. It even tries to humanize the main antagonist of XC1
Imagine if Amalthus was around long enough to see what happened to Indol. He'd be furious that Elysium was literally a barren desert

Lazym00se honestly the fight with morag in chapter ten drove me even more crazy, she dodged everything, i honest to god think it was the hardest fight in the game especially without mythra, healing from nia and the fact that a whole lot of my rare blades weren’t in my possession (don’t even ask me how i survived spirit crucible elphys).
Just fight until you have around half of his hp down and then just use the ascended Pyra and pwn him. It’s that stupid Amalthus that gets on my nerves. I can’t use the ascended Pyra on that fight and it makes no sense why.
Pneuma can only be used when Mythra or Pyra are at max affinity and the Party Gauge is full.
We shouldn't feel too sad for Jin's death, as it's his very wish in the first place.
He actually gets rid of the curse of not being allowed to forget his loved one.

Zeke: So funny thing, chum. I knew Amalthus was a genocidal megalomaniac all along but like... I never thought he'd actually do anything about it.
My Amalthus fight was almost a double KO. He used an insanely powerful attack (can't remember the name) which almost killed all my party, but he died at the same time thanks to the end of a blade combo attack used right before dying. It was really confusing but I made it somehow haha
The boss fight with Jin really does display quite a stunning array of brilliant Art tactics in play. His Arts Empty Moment inflicts a three-hit AOE Blowdown all while giving him full evasion for the duration of the move's build-up. Stunned Swallow will literally Launch any foe that hits him, regardless of whether or not they have the Break status. Those Arts work very well for disrupting coordinated attack efforts such as driver combos. Speaking of Driver Combos (and disrupting, heh), remember that Art he used called Heavenly Disrupt? That's a whole Driver Combo inflicted with a single Art, folks. Devastating damage if not somehow avoided. He somehow manages to activate all those Arts when you'd need them activated least, and the boss fight can be very challenging for many who cannot effectively adapt to his tactics.

I perfer nia as a blade she is incredible like major her attacks heal gradual health and she is very beautiful to boot
I prefer using Nia as a driver since Rex should generally be focusing on doing damage, and she's the only dedicated healer.
I actually completed the entire game without healing aside from blade nia it made for more of a challenge :) constant healing is no fun lol
As much as I adore Nia's blade design, not having her be the dedicated healer was CRIPPLING for me, especially in the Spirit Crucible Elphys, (aka PTSDland). Like she's fun and all...but not having Dromarch and Vess and not having to worry about health and focus on damage made the game more fun for me.
Honestly Nia as a blade has a much better healing output compared to Driver Nia but with her as a driver she can use more healing blades and it doesn't detract from Rex's role as a damage dealer. With Blade Nia you're forced to stuff Rex into Nia's shoes and it can be kind of a handful.
Plus, she looks beautiful in her blade form, her true form.

Amalthus is probably one of the most loathsome villains in Nintendo history. Ganon is supposed to be, "malice and hatred incarnate," but Amalthus is capable of every bit as much hate and destruction and he didn't need an ancient curse to make him that way. He's deplorable all on his own.
I'd say Amalthus, Ridley, and Demise are tied for most evil villains in Nintendo.

Amalthus was a hard fight I fought him for a good 30 mins just because he kept healing himself

@@catalyst539 It really varies between player. I beat Jin first try with four orbs while Amalthus took me out twice with Sacred Arrow

I really wish that Jin’s parting gift to Rex had some sort of in-game benefit. Like, boosting Rex’s auto-attack speed or even as little as boosting Ice element powers on Rex.

Honestly, Indol (or rather Amalthus) being evil struck me as this game's equivalent to the whole Mechonis Core section of Xenoblade 1, and the fights you are built up to feel satisfying. Getting to kick Amalthus's butt after what happened lower in the World Tree felt amazing (hitting him with a full burst finisher was great). And watching Jin fade away satisfied like that was honestly tear inducing.
That scene with the Beanstalk is so a callback to the intro of Xenogears. Minus the

Square's willing to remake Final Fantasy VII...is a Xenogears remake still a pipe dream? I know that Weltall-Id makes a cameo in Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius, and Xenogears appears as a secret boss in World of Final Fantasy, so one can hope.

A really mean person ok but how? What moves can I use?
Jack Off the way I beat him was that I started a chain attack right before he did the one-hit kill ability. The chain attack makes you invulnerable, so you don’t die. I suggest saving your chain attack until he’s about to do the ability and also have as many element orbs as possible before that point
Jack Off The way I did it was using Roc’s level 3 special, which has blowdown effects. You can literally beat this boss in about 1 minute or so. lol
Try doing any combo that uses a Wind Special at the end. The special has to have a blowdown effect.

I found out that when jin uses stunned swallow that the best thing to do is run till it stops

Tbh i think nia as a blade was really op the insane auto attack healing the specials,etc, by the end of the game the final boss(Malos aka Logos hijacked mech and robot gaurds) was a walk in a park. Or maybe thats just me and my opinion. I digress.
Amalthus is like Count Bleck all over again.
