Great video showing the never ending permutions to be had by messing about moving the acetate. Tried this before with a sheet of perspex,- get slightly different results but the acetate gives more control. Thanks for posting.
Sooo great. i hear myself shouting noooo when you erase a great result, again and again and yet it's a very exciting game. I can't wait to replay it. Sometimes I think how it looks through the foil, THIS is it, but when you take it off everything is always completely different. Very exciting, but also hypnotic. Thank you for that!
I loved every single one of them! Wonderful technique resulting in GORGEOUS images of the Tundra to Me... the Polar regions portrayed and could be used in Surreal Collage quite easily. Thank you for the inspiration!
Hi Peter Gric. This is so awesome! I would like to do this too. I have experimented with oil paints but the consistency of the paint is not good. Could you give me some tips on how to prepare the paint? If not with oil paint (which I prefer) then with acrylic paint, please. Thanks in advance.
If you want to try with oils just make sure the color is enough liquid by diluting it with turpentine or a mix of 50% turpentine and 50% linseed oil (the more linseed oil the longer it will dry). With acrylics just add water. If you start with acrylics you still can continue painting with oils over it.
Hi Peter, I've just discovered this technique by researching Max Ernst. I'd love to know more about the materials you've used. It's not quite clear in the video if what you're working on is tile or plastic, and what you are spraying on the paint. Thanks
Yes, with acrylics you can add as many layers as you want. However, it's good to protect each layer with acrylic medium before you proceed with the next one.
Me ha encantado! Gracias por la demostración. Por favor, me podrías informar de los materiales que has utilizado y el tiempo de secado? La base, el papel, qué tipo de pintura, etc... Muchas gracias!
He lifts the plastic and it's awesome - then he puts it back down! Oh good grief. Thanks for sharing this technique, yet another way to get organic effects with mixed media.
It's possible but more difficult. The canvas has to be very smooth and mounted on a stiff board. Alternatively the unstretchered canvas could be moved on top instead of the film.
Dendritic process also applies. Dunno what the difference between dendritic and decal / decalcomania is. Maybe one is manipulation of wet paint between two (slick) surfaces? Or is (dendritic) the name of the fractal like pattern? Maybe the (decal) is transferring or printing the dendritic pattern onto another surface... ach, to hell. I give up tryin to work it out! I'm no art pro or tutor. Both are exciting art techniques that are def worth trying out. Most satisfying. Don't talk - just do ,eh!
Hello Peter, The gesso underlay looks really smooth. It's impressive. I have trouble understanding how to proceed, mine is too textured (even after a sandpaper stroke) Maybe should I try an another Gesso primer ? It creates an awkward relief for the sequel If anyone has any tips?
@@sehrishazeem450 I put acrylic color on the board and press the plastic (or smooth paper) into it. I repeat this until I end up with an interesting texture on the board to paint over it. I clean the plastic to use it next time.
ohh sometimes i wanted to cry... every option was beautiful, but you changed it every time
it's so beautiful and so relaxing video

Absolutely the best teaching video I've seen - wonderful techniques

Its is like watching a dance! Thank you so much. One of the best art making videos I have seen.
Increíble las figuras que se pueden crear ! Gracias por compartir.
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing. I was reading about it when we were studying Ernst, but it helps to know what the process looks like.

Wow how fascinating!! I’d never seen nor heard of this before!
Que soporte pones debajo donde echas la pintura ?
The board was primed with Gesso.
Thank you, now i really understand the technique, been looking for this for many years

This is so satisfying. Thanks Choi Seunghyun for introducing Decal to me. 💛
thanks man, this was really helpful, have been making a bunch of these with acrylics
Go and listen jungkook decalcomania.
I have trouble deciding too.
I’m so glad. You have a UA-cam channel. I just now found it?!

Hi Diane,
I'm using here acrylic colors with water on a board primed with Gesso. The plastic is just a overhead transparency film.
Ernst is one of the best at this technique in my opinion. I love his' art and have several books and a few prints.
yes please more info on materials used..
Well, that was fun and inspiring!
Are you a master of imagination...i love you work Peter, you aren't this planet!
I'm sooooo going to try this on my gel plate. 😊. Thank you. Bx
yesss, me tooo, I thought this also just now. Did you do it and how was the result?

Thank you Paul!
every second is spectacular and exciting - Thank you. Have you ever used more than one color?
Hi Peter great stuff.
have you tried adding more layer or glazing after the first layer would dry.
Thank you

It's all acrylics on a Gesso-primed MDF board. Since it's water based it's drying quite fast.
@@petergric Muchas gracias!
Thank you for your beautiful demonstration 💙 this is wonderful
Gteat tutorial!! Are you using acrylic ink or just the normal acrylic paint.
I'm using both. Ink gives you a different result than dense acrylic color.
It's like asmr. I love it
Thanks !! soo beautiful !! easy to understand the technique now !

I’ve been searching for the perfect fabric design. Can this technique be used on fabric? If so, what materials including type of fabric is best.
I don't think it will work very well with fabric unless the surface is very smooth.
So ein talent muss man haben un das zu malen!!😍😍
Je ne connaissais pas cette technique, on crée à l infini, J adore

I use Lascaux Gesso. It can be easily sanded with fine (600+) waterproof sandpaper.
Oh Lascaux is the Tiffany’s of acrylics 😍
Sehr inspirierend.

Was that water you put on it towards the end of the video?
Yes
Whats the liquid being pumped on? Is it oil?
It's water.

Ohhh thank you! I really want to get into art and this is a beautiful technique I'm going to try!
So beautiful ❤❤❤
Can i paint this on my wall??
You can try!
What kind of paper are you using?
You've inspired me - can I use a framed canvas with similar effects? Bev
It will be difficult because you need the underground to be stiff. Also the pattern of the canvas will not make it easy to get detailed textures.

Its awesome ! ❤❤
As they say on UA-cam, smash that like button!
Is that oil or acrylic????
Are you trying to print on the paper or canvas or is the video itself the artwork?
As soon as I find an interesting texture I paint directly over it.
I have the same question? I'm new to this and I got confused if u we're painting the board or the plastic
