Dave Davies doesn't get enough credit for having written songs that would have been at the forefront of most other bands. This is an awesome cover.
Oh my GOOOD! Great song. And I love the little unassuming smile at the end. It's like she's saying, "Oh hi, cool, we just finished with our Gods of Rock magic session, we're just funny looking kids again."
Good to see this again. Yeah, they knocked this cover out of the park like no one else.
It's how I discovered Wye Oak and is in my top 5 Under Covers.
There's some groups on that show who do good covers, smart covers, clever covers. This is one of the few that really just consume a song and sound like they've always owned it.
@@AmericasComic Yeah I mean in a weird way this could easily be a Civilian-era Wye Oak song.
It makes me legitimately sad to be reminded of how awesome the AV Club used to be.

No one will ever read this but if someone does please know this song made me cry. Not because I’m sad but because it’s so beautiful. I love the Kinks and this is a wonderful version Dave would approve so much.
I think I would want this song played at my celebration of life after I leave this planet.

Reverends are cool guitars. Well built and sound great. I had an old style Slingshot Custom with 3 P90s, built before they started making them out of wood rather than phenolic resin. I wish I hadn't sold it but finances were insane then.
She has a lilt like Sandy Denny's even though she is American. But she still can't hit that high note like Dave Davies does!
