Next point, the legal document they threw up on the screen that everyone watching likely only read what they highlighted or glazed over and didn't read it and let her narrate it....if you do read it, it's gibberish. It's printed out as a auto theft form, when I'm pretty sure they have a specific form for about any and all charges....but quantity has the fs number, related charge grand theft over $100,000 or LEO semi trailer, make- US currency, color - green, value stolen has the same fs number, and the rest of it is blank or has more gibberish. While law enforcement may have actually audited them and they may not have kicked the state % back to the county, I believe they didn't have enough information and didn't understand what info they did have so they kind of winged it on this just to have some news and figured no one would notice.
F.S. 119 is public records. They blacked out info they didn't want on tv and cited the reason for blacking it out. Likely previous owner's name & address, etc.

Other states sell real estate at auction for unpaid taxes and keep the overages instead of giving it to the homeowner. I guess Jacksonville doesn't like private companies acting like government.

Is the story about independent used car dealers losing access to a shady tow company that auctions vehicles? Because that's what I got from him and I am kinda shocked that the main message you seem to be imparting with this story.
Tow a three thousand dollar vehicle. $200 a day storage for ten days. People don't have the money to get their car out. Car sold by the towing company, and they pocket the ENTIRE three thousand. Pay themselves the $2000 storage fees, assign all kinds of costs to this revenue, so it is barely break even. Quietly pocket the other thousand. This happens hundreds of times per day, across the country. PER DAY.
Are the overages suppose to be given to the original car owner. I don't know but I think the towing company can only retain its cost of towing. Stealing money from the original car owner.
Yes this towing company owed me $250 for an illegal tow and they did nothing! Guess we all know who they work for...
