Deep and touching. That's the way of Lisiecki's playing. Even if he's young, his music is more sophisticated and exquisite than any other artists of similar age. I love it!
Jan....this is about as close to perfection as it gets. Perfect execution, perfect tone and perfect pace. Very few pianist could interpret this piece the way you did in this video. Bravo.
Bearing in mind popularity of this composition You did the impossible, Jan - you created new, brilliant and fantastic interpretation - so heartfelt, spiritual, with such light, touching and luminous sadness. Thank you!
It is awe inspiring....Dear young man, you bring tears to my eyes....I have an artist son, he paint. Often his works give me goose bumps. But for me music is different . it touches the soul like no other form of art. you are precious and as said in radio, an old soul...love you, pray for your happiness and health and success and.... wisdom
This is genius - perfect in its purity and restraint. Jan Lisiecki is the greatest pianist of my lifetime, and the only one I want to here, forevermore.
This might be my favorite version of this Waltz. Mostly because Jan plays the Piu Mosso part slow at first and never goes too fast. Most versions I've heard race through that part like the pianist is trying to prove something.
Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful video, Jan. I really love Chopin and this waltz is one my favourite pieces, and your interpretation is tremendously beautiful.
Dearest Jan, I was so lucky on june 27th in Orford, it was my birthday, I had no ticket for your concert so I just stood in Centre d'arts Orford front porch, waiting for a miracle... it happened! As soon as you started playing, i burst into tears of joy. I took me a half hour to get a hold on me!!! Thank you so much for this incredible birthday present. By the way, i was sitting 2 seats from your mom she seemed so caring for you. Happy holidays ! Blanche Paquette, artiste peintre Sherbrooke
Polskiej muzyki klasycznej w najlepszy występ polskiego pianisty. Doskonały dźwięk Chopin pozwala serce cierpią z powodu uczucia i rozkoszą! Dziękuję, Pan Jan Lisiecki!
Here is a good example of why NOT to rush Chopin Waltzes. Dinu Lipatti and his over driven tempi come to mind. Here is possibly a full opposite. Missing only a little flavor of the 3 different "pieces" of the waltz, but excellent finger control nonetheless.
Awesome! I loved the fact that you didn't rush in this beautiful piece. Maybe slightly too much staccato at the "chorus". Otherwise nice and gentle. Bravo!
I heard Jan give this piece as an encore in Seattle, February 8. It was absolutely lovely - elegant, clean, and expressive, without being over-sentimentalized. Jan Lisiecki's first CD on the Deutsche Grammphon label will be released soon - I think this April. I can't wait for its release!
Dlaczego? Ponieważ nie łamiesz tak tempa. OK, łamiesz je momentami, a przecież to walc!
I fajnie szło. :-)
Tylko polska dusza potraf tak grać Chopina. Fenomenalnie.
I played this waltz; it takes me away... I always said that my two favourite composers were Bach and Chopin, but I’m beginning to realize I like and understand Chopin more🙂
è scritto in partitura!
Needs?! Who told that!? How about artists freedom and right to make own interpretation, chose own tempo, rubatos' and scale of dinamics? This is Chopin - not measured exercise! Without exaggeration - this on of the best performance of this composition ever performed. Pull out from your ears corks of caked benchmarks and at least try to hear what artist is bringing you.
Jan,,do you love Chopin? I know you do but your notes are perfect but you need to "love" Chopin with love-passion from your inner being. You are in charge of your music, fill it with your personal feeling,do not hold back. You have a great talent, pour it out, fill your music with it. I will follow your progress with great interest. Be inb touch with VanCliburn,,he can help you develop your personal creativity in your music. Blessings my talented young musician friend!
@DavidSnyderLumierist Have you heard him in person? I did last fall. He played with a youth orchestra. Whole setting was far from perfect but I was stunned by his mature interpretation, not culculated way but very natural from his inner being. I don't know how he gets it at his tender age. Hope you will hear him this summer. He is playing at Stratford.
Brilliantly played. Exceptional. Regarding the note following this comment with my name on it,,I can not account for the vulgar comment which contains my name and I can not remove it. Bull cacky belongs in a field not on a web page.
My favourite! Hope to get to a performance some day. Heard my late mother play this while growing up so it brings tears nearly every time, but this young man.....my, will be nice watching him grow up.
Slow and nice. I like interpretations like this, permit the chopin piece to breath !
Deep and touching. That's the way of Lisiecki's playing. Even if he's young, his music is more sophisticated and exquisite than any other artists of similar age. I love it!
he must have had a lot of girlfriends with his playing
very interesting comment !
Pięknie, pięknie, można się zachwycać, rozmarzyć ...
Wonderful. Music is something that should be felt and not just heard.
Jan....this is about as close to perfection as it gets. Perfect execution, perfect tone and perfect pace. Very few pianist could interpret this piece the way you did in this video. Bravo.
He plays this so beautifully with emotion! I like this version and Kissin's version over all the other ones I have heard on UA-cam!
Beautiful piece. Amazing👏🎶💕
many can play the piano, but not many can make it sing, let alone with such beautiful tone.
You, young man, are blessed with that same passion as Chopin. It is felt as much as it is heard.
Bearing in mind popularity of this composition You did the impossible, Jan - you created new, brilliant and fantastic interpretation - so heartfelt, spiritual, with such light, touching and luminous sadness. Thank you!
We believe that he is reincarnation of Frederik Chopin
WOW - SO VERY YOUNG & HE PLAYS THE PIANO SO BEAUTIFUL! YEP!
It is awe inspiring....Dear young man, you bring tears to my eyes....I have an artist son, he paint. Often his works give me goose bumps. But for me music is different . it touches the soul like no other form of art. you are precious and as said in radio, an old soul...love you, pray for your happiness and health and success and.... wisdom
I'm very impressed by this interpretation. Brilliant composure in the playing.
There are many people online that play this and this is by far my top. Learning it right now and this is closest to how I will play it! Fantastic job!
elegant! so enjoyable!!
This is genius - perfect in its purity and restraint. Jan Lisiecki is the greatest pianist of my lifetime, and the only one I want to here, forevermore.
Such a beautiful piano. Great job
it is deeply moving enough that he is playing this beloved waltz of Chopin in his birth house at Zelazowa Wola.
Chopin for ever!
this is how Chopin is supposed to be played , beautiful
This might be my favorite version of this Waltz. Mostly because Jan plays the Piu Mosso part slow at first and never goes too fast. Most versions I've heard race through that part like the pianist is trying to prove something.
Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful video, Jan. I really love Chopin and this waltz is one my favourite pieces, and your interpretation is tremendously beautiful.
I love how you play this piece very emotional and peaceful, it reminds me of Chopin😍
outstanding performance!
Oh my God. This is so beautiful.
Sehr musikalisch und gefühlvoll gespielt, herrlich !!!! Vielen Dank !

Dziękuję, Pan Jan Lisiecki!
Increíble, Muy buena interpretación.
Brillante!!!! Bravo!!!!
This pio mosso part is the most beautiful i've ever heard.
This tempo is completely amazing and dynamic is so controlled. Congratulations.

He plays the middle section better than any other pianist I have heard on You Tube, including Horowitz and Rubinstein.
just love it!
YOU HAVE JUST DONE MY DAY PERFECT WITH THIS SONG. ¡CONGRATULATIONS!
Piękny utwór i jego wykonanie . Życzę powodzenia :)
Awesome! I loved the fact that you didn't rush in this beautiful piece. Maybe slightly too much staccato at the "chorus". Otherwise nice and gentle. Bravo!

It's too beautiful...
Seriously good
Natural beautiful that’s the Walt’s!

Kinda angsty sad version of this waltz... but I like it!
Beautifully done....Excellent control and not at the expense of feeling...
One of the best interpretation i've heard so far!
Genial!!!
ucz mnie mistrzu
You are amazing! I am a piano major. Any advice on how I can improve my skills .
I heard Jan give this piece as an encore in Seattle, February 8. It was absolutely lovely - elegant, clean, and expressive, without being over-sentimentalized.

Bravo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would just like to say this is the only classical piece to have made me cry, and you were the one playing it. Thank you.
You capture the soul of Chopin, the very essense of Chopin, through your music. An enthralling performance from a brilliant mind!
Such a beautiful piece, I'm learning it myself. It's so fun to play!
Bravo! I'm listening to your Chopin Etudes CD now and love it. Hope to see/hear you on your next U.S. tour.
Exquisite rendering. All the more exciting considering Jan's age.
God damn! Every time I hear Jan playing this waltz my mind blows up, literally
Das ist musik: und alles !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chopin mein herz !!!!!
BRAVISSIMO ! ! ! ! ! !
you are great!
Beautifully played!
You got it right on my friend!! Bravo!
Wonderful interpretation.

Chciałbym żeby był najlepszym pianistą świata.

Hello, Jan Lisiecki, congratulations for this beautiful performance of Chopin´s Waltz Op. 64 # 2
You play like Chopin!!
I like how you actually feel the music, I just don't feel this is the right way to play this piece. It is about changing tempo, not trying to keep it.
Played in Regina SK on Sept. 17, 2011. It was a complete privilege to listen to him playing this piece.
Very moving rendition of this beautiful music!
Bravo! Bravissimo, Jan!
You play brilliantly and with great and true emotion!
BRAVO !
No need to get so upset about a small wrong choice of words...
o0ps I said need
Jan Lisiecki that's a name to remember. Such a great future for him and for all of us.
It's slow but without mannerism. I like it a lot.
Be compliment, this interpretation shows a great respect for this masterpiece.
can't stop loving you :'(
What to say...a fitting, wonderful interpretation of the genius.
Truly Amazing!!! Love this piece even more than before...........
You and Kissin are the only pianists who play this piece the right way.
Polandball enamored of the playings.
Vey very beautiful1
Brilliant performance.

My favourite! Hope to get to a performance some day. Heard my late mother play this while growing up so it brings tears nearly every time, but this young man.....my, will be nice watching him grow up.
I'd like to see him tackle the ballades
Great playing Jan. but on a side not, when will UA-cam let us hear the music in all its glorious Hi Fidelity recording?
It's absolutely beautiful like this. So delicate and light. True Romantic Style. You really have it going "On" Randall aka dex(R*)
nice job jan. (it's jamie's friend)
Amazing!
