This is the 1st bike I bought on my way back from a 15yr hiatus from Mtb. I changed brakes and tires and now the bike is faster then my YT Jeffsey and my Ibis Ripliy CF. I highly highly recommend, no need to spend $3-$4k more for other bikes.
You are a fantastic reviewer. I'm stunned you don't have significantly more subscribers. Subscribed.
I love that you talked about this bike's target market first. I was pondering if I needed something with more travel but I was pretty much sold with your explanation. Subbed with thanks!
Awesome glad I could help! Definitely dont always need a super long travel bike!
Great review mate! Made me consider much fun you will have for $2k. Freedom, exercise, mates, challenges, fresh air, etc. Now imagine how much money people are spending on cars or 4x4 bits and bobs that they will either never use and certainly not get the same amount of enjoyment out of. No brainer.
100% definitely worth it! Once you starting riding you understand but to people who don't ride, 2k for a bike seems crazy!
Another top notch video Phil! Keep up the good work, really enjoy the content. Now get that Rift Zone 3 haha!
Thanks mate! Still waiting unfortunately, the coronavirus has messed up production and shipping of a lot of bikes/parts.
Trail Talk MTB I have d5 one I want to put mechanical Disk break on here I wanna know what parts I need To change mechanical disk break
Polygon definitely best bang for your buck out there. I got d7 3 months ago. All though I went a little crazy upgrading it lol.
@@trailtalkmtb6603 i totally agree. even though I love my hardtail better lol.
Hey Jason, I'm looking at this bike, but was wanting to upgrade a couple things if I do, mind if I ask what you did to yours?
@@evinsteven13 ya man no problem. I went really broke thought lol. I Shimano zee brakes. Carbon handlebar bar seatpost. All xt drivetrain. Raceface wheelset. Rockshox pike rct3 fork. Rockshox rl monarch rear shock. And almost all titanium bolts
@@jasonlewis6914 Thanks man! I'm looking at both this bike, and the T7, but I'm having trouble spending the extra $500 for the T7 if I'm going to end up rebuilding a lot of it anyways. I wish there was more reviews of the T7 out there!
Great review! I'm considering this bike and a couple of other entry-level dual-suspension bikes for my 10-year-old son who has been riding for 18 months. I'll watch the comparison with the Marin and Norco with interest. Thanks again
Thanks mate! Great to hear some more young kids getting into the sport!
It’s been a while since your comment, but I’m in the same boat for my 11 year old - looking to move him up from his 24. What did you end up with?
Your channel deserves a lot more subscribers, these videos are great! I'm going to start saving my pennies for this bike.
All 3 of the people you described who would buy this bike are me haha. Thank you for the review, I want a dual suspension bike I can send down trails on the weekend but I refuse to fork out $5,000-$8,000 on a Trek. I'll be buying this bike tonight from bike sales! Subbed.
hahaha Thanks mate! Glad I could help you out! You are going to love it, such a great platform to progress on :)
What a fantastic video phil..uff🔥. I booked d7 through a dealer in India , unfortunately large size is not available. I saw this video almost 10+ times. Pwoli video☺️
I’m looking at getting this bike but have some saving to do since I’m a teen with a part time job but every time I look at this bike I want it even more and it seems to be a fantastic option so can’t wait to get my hands on one and great vid btw
Great video--the only one in the world that shows helpful close-up shots of the bike (I'm installing a dropper post on mine--so very helpful to see the routing and bushings) Happy with our D7 so far after 6 trail rides.
Great vid. I’m looking at getting one these. Need something for long ride duties. Did ever do a follow up vid on this bike??
Hope you guys enjoyed the video! If this helped you choose a Siskiu D7 for your next bike, make sure you check out my affiliate link for Bicycles Online. I get a little kickback and it helps support the channel! Thanks guys!

@@lewisnelken1966 Hi Lewis, all you need to do is click on it and then purchase the bike :)
I just bought one for $1,399 so I think I got a great deal according to your review, thanks for the vid!!!
Rev Skrilli (no it was the D7 dropper post edition on bikesonline I’ve been riding it for 1 week now and it’s awesome) D5 is going for $899
Hey buddy... You'd make a great teacher. This video is awesome I can't wait to check out more!
Weekend warrior here who does mostly XC and Trail, who's also getting his first full-suspension (or dual, as you guys call it ;) ) bike in almost 20 yrs. So I'd say this is a good fit, lol.
I hate 29" wheels, so if I can work a medium frame, I'm set!
Get the frame the fits you the best. I wouldnt be too concerned about wheel size. It's still a very playful bike and after 2 or 3 rides you adapt very quickly
Excellent review Phil, as always! It answered a few questions I had on this brand.
Kicking this one around for a daughter who is verrry new to the sport, but she might go with the D5 and do upgrades as her skill increases.
I have a Marin hawk hill 1, I think this might be my next bike.
Love this channel great work phil and could you pls do a review of The Marin rift zone 2
Am looking forward to the comparison to the Merida and Norco. Cross shopping those three so would really like to hear your views.
Well said, one of the best reviewer I enjoy.. I feel like buying it as soon.
Great vid Phil
Gr8 video Trail Talk Mtb.
Loads of info and really fun to watch.
I'm also planning to buy my first full suspension bike.
Probably a polygon N8 it would mean the world to me. If u did a review on the N8 polygon
Good video but next time I think the music should be a little quieter while you’re riding, I think a lot of people like here more trail and less music, or that’s just me idk 👍🏻
Thanks, noted :) When I do proper riding and talking I have no audio but because this was just a quick clip to show I rode the bike I put some audio on.
Greatly appreciated if you could Please please please do the review between the polygon and Marin these are the 2 bikes i have been looking at for my upgrade.
I’ve been looking at the Merida 120 600 for a while. For almost 1k less this is really tempting! Great video!
Definitely! The brakes are good on the Merida but I would change the tyres on that as well, so the D7 really is a steal at this price.
Very affordable bike. Many new bikers go to mtb because of this affordable bicycle
Very thoroughly informative, thank you!
This video was a great help! I have been thinking of getting a full squish. I went over a big drop on my hard tail and after landing my ankles were burning because I landed so hard on my hard tail XD I love going fast on black trails and really would like a new upgrade so do you think this would be a good bike for me? I love riding aggressive too. Like how you rode on this video. Oh and also your videos are amazing!!
Rad! When's the aggressive hardtails review coming?
Might try and get my hands on a polygon diablo if I can :). Will do a buyers guide soon too!
Great review planning to purchase this D7 2021 but still undecided to go to expensive full sus or to polygon
Wow it comes with a dropper post now. I have the 2017 one which unfortunately pedal bobs way too much.
Great review mate. There has been a few changes for the 2021 model, what's your opinion on the new specs?
It's great to see a better shock on there, really helps the rear end shine a bit more. The extra range on the drivetrain is a big plus too!
Awesome bike and specs but one thing I don't understand is no boost in the front. Polygon does boost front and back on their Xtrada hardtails and here you have a full squish, kinda like the full suspension version of the Xtrada 8, and no boost in the front. You'd think boost would be a more critical feature on the FS bikes over the hardtails.
What would you recommend for fork and rear shock upgrade in the future (max travel)? Great video as always!
Great bike product from Indonesia....thanks for this review guys 👍👍🚴
Nice vid you just earned a new sub
I have a rockshox pike and I have to add like 20psi more than they recommend as well. Their recommendation usually puts me right above 30% sag
Love this video! I may have missed this (and it seems like it is), but is the cable for the dropper post internal?
What a awesome Bike for the money, this is going to be my next bike for sure !
You can review my Polygon Siskiu T8 if you want. I changed the breaks and tires tho.
I’d like to better understand what modern or progressive geo means. Food for thought that could be your next vid. I always hear low bb steap seat angles, what that actually means would be a good vid & a what else on the topic would be helpful for us newer mtb folks.
Hi Irving, thanks for the suggestion. In the meantime here's a vid to help explain it ua-cam.com/video/2v4pi_XRRVE/v-deo.html
Great review, I am a weekend rider, around the sutherland shire. I cannot decide on this or the T8. I am 5.10" do I go Medium with 27" and which do you suggest. I am 52 so not going mental on the tracks. cheers. Ps I will use your links to buy and support you.
Oh I have a 32" inside leg will the droppper work ok for me? Cheers
Thanks for the great review/1st impression.
Mate would you recommend this bike for a 6.5 tall person?
Hi Phil, love your content! had a bit of an impulse buy and bought the 2020 Rockshox deluxe select debon air shock for my D7. I now notice there's not much adjustment. Do you think it's an upgrade or have I wasted my money?
It's definitely an upgrade on the xfusion unit. Lot smoother and more control in the damping
Very helpful. I ordered mine ;)
Great review! Me and my buddy are looking to buy one, he is 177cm so right between a medium and large. Which way do you think he should go???
Nicely Explained
Very curious what you think about the price jump on 2021 D7. I really liked that 2020 price point.
Hey man! What's the difference of this and the 2021 model? Thanks so much!
New shock and drivetrain. Definitely worthy upgrades. Noticed a big difference in the shock
What would be your opinion on this bike vs the d6 model and value for money?
Thanks for the vid. I love my D7 but still havent found a sweet spot with the suspension. I wish xfusion had a chart. I weigh 145lbs and trying to find a good middle for jumps but also be able to grip the downhills and rock gardens. Right now I have 150psi in rear with 2 clicks of rebound and 80psi in the front with middle rebound. Have you discovered anything new for your suspension since the video? thanks
Hey mate great review I love your channel, and I’m about to upgrade to a dual suspension but I’m not sure what is better the d7 without dropper or giant stance 2 what would you recommend, thanks !
I would definitely go the D7, better geo, spec and it has a through axle in the rear vs the quick release on the stance
Thanks for this review... I just recently bought this for my wife... Still waiting since it's back ordered. Had a question about the tires and rims... Are they tubeless ready??
Thanks mate. Tubeless ready rims but the need tubless tape and valves and the tyres are not tubeless
Another great video mate. Looking at one of these in size small for my son. Do you know if the small frame can fit a 600ml water bottle?
I couldn't get a hold of a small but a medium definitely fit a 600ml small camelback bottle
Thanks for the awesome review! Whats your take on the
Polygon Siskiu D7 vs. Calibre Bossnut vs Giant Stance vs. Canyon Neuron AL 6.0?
They all seem to be priced in the mid $1500 (USD) range. Would you say any of them is a clear pick?
Great review! Thanks.
I want to get the D7 for my girlfriend. She’s 1,64m height, so she falls in between frame size small and medium. She is a starter rider. Which size do you recommend I get for her? Thank you for your help.
Hey mate great review! I'm unsure about tyre size atm I don't know if I should go the safe option of 27.5 or 29 wheels !
Hey Hayden, sorry for the late reply. I'm a fan of the 29er's, better roll over and more capable and stable. It's still very playful too, so I don't see a down side
@@trailtalkmtb6603 All good brother! I ended up just going the 27.5
I had a go at my mates bike, which has 29ers on it and i didn't really like it. I ended up going the polygon siskiu D7, I love it even though I've been on one ride so far haha.
Thanks for all your videos BTW!
I went to my local bike store they said don't get a polygon, im not sure I believe them, i feel like they think anything under 10k is bad. I'm a beginner, yet I thrash a marlin 5, which is not designed for jumps and only light trails, but i have been charging any ways, so anything has got to be better than a marlin 5.
Great review, content and production!
How does this compare to Marin Hawk Hill 1 or Rift Zone 1?
How sturdy is this type of Rear suspension compared to the Marin Hawk Hill/Rift Zone?
Thanks mate! Really appreciate it! I would say go the D7, the upgrade isnt worth it until you hit the 2 and at that point you are spending a bit more. It's a linkage actuated single pivot on all those bikes, so pretty similar.
I'm considering buying the new 2021 model in a medium 27.5 wheels. For those of you you picked up a 2020 how is it holding up and how's the quality of mainly the Polygon frame and parts? $1,700 USD seems like a great deal if it is a quality product, but I am a bit skeptical as I've never seen a Polygon in person and to be honest don't believe I remember even hearing about them before. Thanks in advance for any honest info you guys have for me!
They been around for about 33 years. They actually make bikes for some big name brands, like Marin.
Great review Phil👌. I am a biginner and looking for an entry level dual suspension bike. I am confused between Siskiu D5 and D7. Could you please suggest the best option. Please suggest any alternative option in other brands too. Thanks Phil🚲
Id save for the D7. It's better to upgrade on and you have the through axle in the rear too
Hey mate, love this review. I’m very tempted by the D7 but do you think it’s worth spending a bit extra and going for the T7?
Slightly different bikes, really depends if you need the extra travel. I liked how agile and snappy the D7 felt on the flowy stuff. If you are hitting technical sections at a bit more speed, then the T7 would be better, but for XC and Trail the D7 is more well rounded.
Hey mate great upload. Just subscribed, just wondering what your thoughts on the siskiu t7 compared to this?
The T7 is a little more forgiving and slightly more stable. If you are doing general trails and XC you cant go wrong with either
@@trailtalkmtb6603 I'm perth based and normally ride 10 year old free hard tails that are probably trash, so either will handle the trails I'm doing. Ive heard it's really hard to upgrade the chain ring and rear cassette as they are a odd size, is that something to worry about? And if you had to choose between a d7, t7 and a Marin Rift Zone 2 as a first long term upgradable mountain bike? Thanks a bunch man.
@@trailtalkmtb6603 also this late in the year and with COVID and all, is it worth getting something now, or am I better off waiting for 2021 bikes.
Really good video but I just wondering what the weight of this bike is?
For the dropper post ed and the fact its a large Id add about 300-500g to what Polygon says. It felt closer to 14-14.5kg. It still accelerated quickly so I didn't notice the weight of the bike at all.
Hey man, great vid. What (tubless) tire combo would you recommend for this bike. I ride trails but slightly more on the XC side of mtb as I live in Brisbane (many hills). Thanks!
Hmm, For XC I would go something like a 2.4 Maxxis icon or rekon race in the rear and a 2.4 rekon upfront. EXO casing 3c maxx speed for the rear and an EXO casing 3c maxx terra upfront. If you want more grip you can go a dissector up front.
Hi...could you please inform the travel of dropper post suit for D7, 150 mm or 125 mm? Thanks
I am a very experienced rider looking to get into a 29er as an upgrade from my 26”Pivot Mach 5. Trails in my area are very well groomed. Would this bike suit my needs?
Great video! Any idea where I can actually buy one of these?
They have the D6 in stock which is very similar spec wise. Comes with a dropper, through axles, 1x10 drivetrain and air fork. D7 will be restocked in a month or so.
I'm impatient and couldn't wait, just ordered the regular D7. Can't wait to ride it!
should i get the 27.5/M or the 29/L? Im around 5”10 and been contemplating in which size i should get, cheers mate!
You said this is a 29er. How tall are you? .i definitely getting this bike , this week. I’m 5’10 184. I really would like a 27.5” medium,Do you think this would be to small for me
Sorry for the late reply, im 185cm, at 184 definitely go a large, its still a playful bike so dont be phased by the 29er.
@@trailtalkmtb6603 I'm 6'2 or 188. Is an XL a must or do you think an L would fit?
Is it a good beginners bike or should i start with a hardtail?
Great beginners bike! I would get this if you can afford it. More capable and very up-gradable :)
Hello, I’m picking one of these up but have a really basic question. I’m getting back into biking after years being away. But, for the next year or so, I’m not gonna be doing much trail riding. Can you suggest a kickstand solution for this bike? Seems like a crazy question for a bike like this-but will be doing a bunch of around the city riding at first.
Hi Phil My budget is about 1300 is the d5 a good option? I am 12 and looking at getting a good entry level bike please give me your opinion😁
D5 is a great bike to build up and progress on! If you can afford the D6 I would save a little more as the upgrades are worth it but the D5 is still a great bike :)
@@trailtalkmtb6603 Thanks! I think I might try to save up😁.
Ps I love your channal its great content😁
@@trailtalkmtb6603 Also Do you think with the D6 with the 1× system 1st gear has only 42 teeth would that be a problem?
Since I know some Sram systems have like 50 teeth for 1st gear.
Just wondering since on the local trails their is a lot of climbing😁
New to MTB and new sub, my height is 5'5"ft whats my ideal size of a bike? Thanks
Which performs better, SLX or XT?
I’m 5’10 230lbs would you recommend this bike for someone my size? Really want to get into mountain biking but feeling a Bit overwhelmed with different setups, geometries, and the lot. What I’m looking for is something that I can build my skills on versus having to completely change bikes to go to the next level. My riding would be a mix of road riding during the week with some paved trails thrown in and dirt trails and fun riding on weekends. My budget is a max of $1700usd.
I’m 178cm. Would frame size M and 29” wheels be alright for me as I bought that Or should I have bought the L frame?
AnywAys amazing content!!!!
You are in between sizes, so cant go wrong, the medium will be a bit more fun on the trails. Thanks!
Compare it to the giant stance 1 2020
Not a big fan of the stance, the other bikes are a fair bit better and have through axles, while the stance still uses a QR.
Recently I’ve been getting into mountain but I don’t have a mountain bike so ive been using a bmx bike and I’ve been getting pretty good I am riding blue to even black trails on it so I’m thinking about this bike. Do you think this bike would suit me or should I look for something more aggressive
If you are progressing quickly and hitting black trails then the Siskiu T or N would be a better option. If you are purely climbing to descend go the N but if you do a fair bit of up and downs then go the T
Do u think you could ride this bike at a bike park or would you have to rent a bike
Some of the team did race on it in the air DH at Crankworx so the frame is capable but they do have better brakes, tires etc. So if you are doing blue and green flow trails it will be fine but on the bigger stuff I would hire a bike.
Trail Talk MTB thanks for the feedback I need to buy a bike so that’s very helpful info
Hi im about to buy a second hand d7 what should i be aware of
Any thoughts welcomed
I love polygon
I love indonesia
Do you in your opinion think the $400 extra is worth it for the T7 or stick with the d7? I’m in Florida so nothing super crazy here.
For Florida the D7 would be the better bike, you don't really need the extra travel.

marin hawk hill 1 (2020) &
polygon D7 (2020) . plz suggest me which one should i buy .
Go for D7 as it has a wider range cassette, lockout on the shock, and a dropper.
marin and polygon are actually made from the same factory in Indonesia my friend works there, I believe the quality is the same. just choose by spec and geometry preferences because the biggest difference there
