@tbakerreviews3268 The only way to really fix the inconsistency in dual type decks is to change the way the type of energy is generated every turn. I would change it so that at beginning of the turn the player with the dual type energy chooses what type of energy is first generated and that would be energy A and the other type of energy they can generate becomes type B, a turn passes and it goes back to the player's turn again and this time type B is generated and so the energies alternate between type A and type B every turn.
With cresselia ex, you can pair with Gardevoir to get up to 60 hp healed each turn (20 from each gard, 20 from normal energy) plus potions if needed, seems pretty good to me
The issue is it'll still get one or two shot by strong pokemon. It reminds me of lapras EX with heal on energy placed instead of on attack though slightly less since lapras EX heals for 30 IIRC.
1 energy per 20 heal not the best trade imo. Those energy could be going towards powering up another pokemon on your bench. And when cresselia gets knocked out, all that energy goes bye bye
I suspect that it being a stage 2 Pokémon that needs 3 energy to attack might be a little too slow to meaningfully disrupt whatever your opponent is doing tbh. We’ll have to see though. They’re getting 3 or 4 grass energy already before this starts attacking.
Rocky helmet doesn’t say the opposing pokemon needs to be in the active spot, only your pokemon. So I’m curious to see if, opposed to Drudd’s ability, this will damage a Greninja sniping you from their bench. Also I’ve seen someone mention the cloak could be a new staple for Mewtwo EX because it stops a lot of OKHOs, for example Mew EX. This would also prevent Garchomp+Cynthia from OHKOing, but if you hit something with Togekiss, then next turn force the switch with Pidgeot or possibly a new card with this function, Togekiss+Cynthia would get the 170 oneshot. Probably not super relevant, but some thoughts that popped up in my mind while watching this :) super stoked for these new cards, some very cool new mechanics shown so far! Edit: nvmnd the Rocky helmet comment, water shuriken is obviously an ability instead of an attack 😅
My problem with Garchomp is that it has an ability you'd want on a single stage support Pokemon. Sigilyph fills this role perfectly. Garchomp is a two stage carry. I hope Garchomp EX ends up being better imo.
@@CBreezie nah that ability is almost certainly built to fish for cynthia. It’s also an ability, not an attack, so you get the new card and can play it on the same turn. Way different than meowth/sigilyph
People did this with aerodactyl too, they got way too hung up on the ability and ignored the power behind a 2 energy attack for 80. Yeah it’s dual energy on a stage 2 but 2 for 100-150 is crazy value. The ability is just bonus consistency for drawing cynthia
@Fluffal_Enthusiast Kabutops would run better with Lucario, since he gives Kabutops 20 more damage for free. Hitting for 70 and healing for 70 every turn, and if you get one more Lucario, it can become 90 instead all for one energy at 140hp is insane.
Cyrus is sooo good. Playing a single prizer deck, I always hate when my opponent has 3 ex out and just swaps back and forth, extending the game endlessly until they draw something good
Cyrus is going to be the best card of this set mark my words. It stops a lot of decks that like to stall and charge energy on their benched Pokémon which is a lot of the top decks right now.
What I also noticed is the Erika purchasables in the shop lasted right until this expansion set release date. This may be an indicator of when the third set will drop if we get another “Erika purchasable” replacement
I think togekiss is the real stand out for psychic here. Florges aggro is already slept on imo, and togekiss just seems like a better Florges with Cynthia.
@Hisuian_zoroark_and_zorua_fan I don’t really see it because the game is all about one shots so healing isn’t that valuable. Just look at Venosaur with tons of healing support and 180 hp and it ain’t meta. Maybe it’ll have niche use but I don’t think mew2 players will put it in their deck and it won’t be an archetype on its own.
Assuming confusion works like the tabletop tcg, you'll flip a coin; heads goes through, tails is 30 damage to yourself (likely gonna be 20 in Pocket). Here's the kicker, it stays until you retreat, evolve, or heal it; no coin flips on turn swap.
Just learned that in tips already in the game, confusion is already programmed. Attack just fails on fail state (no damage done at all). Rest is the same.
I wonder if with the usual 20 card decks this new edition will re-define the meta. Sure, some new decks to experiment but are they really much stronger?
Hopefully they eventually increase the deck size to 30 that the deckbuilder allows you, decks are rapidly getting tighter and tighter 30 seems a good cap that still keeps the game fast paced and consistent enough but let's see
og tcg player here assuming the effects follow tcg rules confusion will make the enemy flip a coin when they decide to attack, if coin fail they hit self for 30 damage (or 20 i dont remember perfectly). also cape wont need healing i think, it simply add more hp to your pokemon (in a way its better blue/potion but there might be more anti tools to balance it out + you might want to run rocky helm instead)
The problem with Vaporeon is it does minimal damage. I wish it hit a little harder to justify the amount of energy it needs. But it has enabled some cool plays otherwise impossible by shuffling energies to active Pokémon
A lot of types are getting huge buffs this release. Metal and Darkness finally has an EX!! Dark meta with darkrai weavile deck soon maybe? We're now only missing Dragon EX but Garchomp is still a good addition to their roster. Really excited for this patch
@niichigary8609 I think most decks will still run double sabrina, cyrus will be more of a snipe deck card and maybe 1 copy for consistency in other decks
Infernape Moltres seems broken, Manaphy Vaporeon is insane! Garchomp is a awesome draw engine, Togekiss should not exist, we finally got a dark type ex, rocky helmet is a better Drudiggon, Staraptor is Arbok on crack, Porygon z will make you ragequit, Magneton is now playable, Cyrus Greninja is based, and we got Bidoof boiz!
As much as I want to enjoy playing pocket, it requires no skill and depends on who goes first and the outcome of random coin flips. A game where RNG cucks you at every turn isn’t fun.
I feel togekiss is much better than garchomp 1. Both stage 2 2. Both got Cynthia boost 3. But togekiss is more consistent and combine it with slab and sigilyph.
I'm really surprised they went the route of low damage low energy for Garchomp, I was really expecting (and hoping for) a big hitter. As a card though it seems pretty great, 2 energy 100 DMG is crazy and with 1 retreat cost and a huge card cycling ability.
Porygon Z kinda looks like Gengar. On paper it's really strong and super cool, but by the time they can actually do something, the opponent is usually already set up.
Hear me out. Manaphy enables the Dragonite + Misty mono electric deck I've always dreamed of. No longer am I held back by the specific wording of Misty or Vaporeon. I am free.
It seems less consistent than having double color energy. With manafy and misty you need manafy+Misty that makes at least one head+the three stages of dragonite on the bench And in all this your opponent doesn't have to kill manafy who only has 50 ho.
Dragonite is just a bad card. Multiple different layers of rng blocking it from winning. I’ll eat my words if it happens but I don’t see that card ever being consistently good
Stage 2, four energy attack, no energy generator cards work on it (dialga technically will), multicolored attack, rng targets when you finally do attack
I absolutly love that they decided to reduce rng mechanics. Less coin flips = more fair gameplay AND less wait times. Makes fighting so much more enjoyable
This sounds kinda niche, but the fact that Rotom's attack is colorless is underrated. You basically can slot in a check for water decks. 50 damage for one energy and a tool attachment is pretty decent (plus whatever tools that help).
2:13 Fighting deck got a lot more powerful. Gallade is EX is a great counter when going up against psychic, water and fire deck, etc who need 3+ energies. Opponents active pok3mon has 3 energies, that's 130 damage from the card. Now add 2 lucarios on bench, that is 170 damge without Giovano!! Fighting decks are gonna cause a lot of chaos and I'm all for that!! Haha
Garchomp + Greninja + Hitmonlee is where my brain immediately goes. Feels like theyve really scaled back on energy requirements - 100 damage for 2 energy is kind of nuts even in a stage 2
7:37 Well duh, its god 8:30 This could be very usefull with Gardevoir too, since it lets you attach 1 extra energy *from your energy zone*, so its two free potions per turn
Pocket is all about breakpoints so I forsee Giant Cape, Rocky Helmet, and Cyrus have the potential to shake up the meta game more than any other cards released thus far. Finally dark gets an Ex with Weavile!! I'm so hyped for this card along with Infernape. Porygon Z looks to be a gimmick card. Cresselia Ex seems bad but maybe with giant Cape it could be used. Garchomp and Togekiss will be strong in rogue Cynthia decks but won't dominate the meta.
oh that manaphy with vaporeon just made palkia more viable. cresselia will heal 20 with gardevior's ability! it should be mentioned that manaphy does not specifically say water to a water pokemon, so it does work on garchomp.
Volkner and Lt. Surge for Electabuzz decks will be so fun as a non-meta deck! Electivire is one of my favorite Pokémon and I can’t wait to build some decks with them!

Porygon-Z has the potential to shake up the meta in a CRAZY way. Imagine your Celebi deck not being able to ever get another grass energy
I suspect that it being a stage 2 Pokémon that needs 3 energy to attack might be a little too slow to meaningfully disrupt whatever your opponent is doing tbh. We’ll have to see though. They’re getting 3 or 4 grass energy already before this starts attacking.
also many attacks needs only a few of the totals numer of energy of the same type
Cyrus, Weavile, and Greninja about to go hard...
Pidgeot (not ex) and staraptor is going to be a very goofy build, but I’m excited to try it.
Plus dialga and Cyrus 🤪
Double stage 2 pokémon rarely works well
My first thought on the Garchomp is Fossils, because it uses both energy types from Omastar and Kabutops. That's gonna be real fun.
3 stage 2 lines this guy is cooking
That Eevee looking a little... different
@Bros_Before_Hee_ho_hos Yep, Sabrina was a good guster already, but this seems much better in most and a bit worse in some situations
Cryus is the next Sabrine checkmate card!
Weavile EX could benefit from Rocky Helmet do to equipping it to Sneasel in the previous turn
What I also noticed is the Erika purchasables in the shop lasted right until this expansion set release date. This may be an indicator of when the third set will drop if we get another “Erika purchasable” replacement
@@Goulzzz good eye!
2:18 Gallade EX also works with the damage boost Lucario will provide
Holy shit you're right, completely forgot about Lucario
@@cacovonlucafighting decks are gonna be everywhere

@556cy the revenge attack from Marshadow after Gallade goes down with some Lucario coaching...delicious

Plus wheezing and arbok, damn😂
that pronunciation of Togetic caught me off-guard
@@CAMERO202 the weevil pronunciation went crazy too
Bunnery too
"Keer-lia"
"Magne-tun"
Gardevoir Cresselia seems broken.
Edit: with butterfree it could be hard to get rid of.
No cresselia only heals when its get the Energy from the Energy Zone and Not from gard
Gardevoirs ability does attatch from the energy zone
Meh, it’s pretty similar to lapras ex. Why bother building a cresselia to stall when you can build a mew or mewtwo to win?
I think togekiss is the real stand out for psychic here. Florges aggro is already slept on imo, and togekiss just seems like a better Florges with Cynthia.
@Hisuian_zoroark_and_zorua_fan I don’t really see it because the game is all about one shots so healing isn’t that valuable. Just look at Venosaur with tons of healing support and 180 hp and it ain’t meta. Maybe it’ll have niche use but I don’t think mew2 players will put it in their deck and it won’t be an archetype on its own.
Giant's Cape Pachirisu EX is a 140 HP Basic attacker 80 for 2 energy... seems fairly good.
I’m so confused as to why this got an Ex over some of the others in the first place.
Pachirisu is actially quite famous due to its vgc 2014 wolrds Championship win. Guess making IT ex is legit
@@xxWicKedWayZxx probably because of Park winning worlds with his Pachi. It has become iconic in the competitive world
@@xxWicKedWayZxx
The TCG often makes unassuming mons into absolute threats.
I’m about to make a crazy togekiss deck, they did one of my favorite pokemon so right 🙏
Venusaur is going to be such a unit with that Cape tool 👀
Torterra EX is going to be the biggest that ever was I bet, thing is built like a tank.
But still Charizard EX one hits it😢
If you had the cape tool and blue with a 180 hp ex you could actually survive crimson storm
If they balance it correctly it will just add some more variety. The game is still very new I think in the future meta might change more but who knows
Hopefully they eventually increase the deck size to 30 that the deckbuilder allows you, decks are rapidly getting tighter and tighter 30 seems a good cap that still keeps the game fast paced and consistent enough but let's see
I think the Meta will 100% change, mostly due to the fact that we got a Lot more supporter and Tool Cards that can be usefull
Nope just more consistency cards for the top decks which I have every deck so I'm good get all these ca4ds for free threw wonder picks anyways 😂
Got recommended a ton of other content creators covering these cards… I knew where to actually go!
Weavile and Gallade are some of my fav pokemon, so I can't wait for them to come :DD
og tcg player here
assuming the effects follow tcg rules confusion will make the enemy flip a coin when they decide to attack, if coin fail they hit self for 30 damage (or 20 i dont remember perfectly).
also cape wont need healing i think, it simply add more hp to your pokemon (in a way its better blue/potion but there might be more anti tools to balance it out + you might want to run rocky helm instead)
Could manaphy into vaporeon be good, so like turn 3 you've got 5 energy without misty???
The problem with Vaporeon is it does minimal damage. I wish it hit a little harder to justify the amount of energy it needs. But it has enabled some cool plays otherwise impossible by shuffling energies to active Pokémon
@@kevintruant7160
You don't really want to attack with Vapo, attack with Gyara or Blastoise
@@kevintruant7160 vaporeon is a bench warmer than can retreat itself worse case scenerio with the Ability.
Now I can really run rocky helmet garchomp just like the good old days lol
8:42 if this ability works with Gardevoir’s ability, then it might just be worth it
A lot of types are getting huge buffs this release. Metal and Darkness finally has an EX!! Dark meta with darkrai weavile deck soon maybe?
We're now only missing Dragon EX but Garchomp is still a good addition to their roster. Really excited for this patch
Bidoof didn’t get one of the two moves it’s known for (Cut and Rock Smash 😂) and instead became a Legendary 🎉
You know what else is massive?
Low taper fade
6:20 bro thats literally boss's orders with a slight downside, that's crazy
Greninja can be the feature pokemon with this. It already has drudd as a great partner
I think people will run 1 Sabrina and 1 Cyrus. This doesn't power creep Sabrina, early game Sabrina is very strong.
@niichigary8609 I think most decks will still run double sabrina, cyrus will be more of a snipe deck card and maybe 1 copy for consistency in other decks
@@dolbaeb3447 Pocket couldn’t last 2 sets without adding broken TCG cards to the game 💀

Got a good laugh seeing that Porygona-Z attack. Very excited to see it in play!
I like to be spoiled so I know who’s good. If you don’t wanna get spoiled by TCGP your just setting yourself up to lose more lol
True
Rocky helmet is gonna be a staple
Infernape Moltres seems broken, Manaphy Vaporeon is insane! Garchomp is a awesome draw engine, Togekiss should not exist, we finally got a dark type ex, rocky helmet is a better Drudiggon, Staraptor is Arbok on crack, Porygon z will make you ragequit, Magneton is now playable, Cyrus Greninja is based, and we got Bidoof boiz!
U have a talent for describing the meta 😂
Why would you need Moltres for Infernape? It's only 2 energy.
And bidoof attack isn't that bad! 😍
Infernape doesn't synergize with moltres because it discards ALL energy, so you better attach manually 2 energy to the monke
monferno? you mean infernape? also moltres and infernape don't work well at all together, quite the opposite in fact
As much as I want to enjoy playing pocket, it requires no skill and depends on who goes first and the outcome of random coin flips. A game where RNG cucks you at every turn isn’t fun.
I feel togekiss is much better than garchomp
1. Both stage 2
2. Both got Cynthia boost
3. But togekiss is more consistent and combine it with slab and sigilyph.
Honestly true. I'll try and build a Garchomp Deck, but i can see myself playing a Togekiss-Cresselia Deck or something similar
Super stoked for my class in Datamining coming up next year so I can contribute to stuff like this in the future :D
Cyrus gonna be staple in most if not all decks, and here I was having fun with victreebel lol
I'm really surprised they went the route of low damage low energy for Garchomp, I was really expecting (and hoping for) a big hitter. As a card though it seems pretty great, 2 energy 100 DMG is crazy and with 1 retreat cost and a huge card cycling ability.
POV: The main lucario art is my favorite art of the card
Gallade looks insane. Great card arts but idk if this set is going to switch up the meta the way we all were hoping it would.

It’s super nostalgic for me; seeing a lot of these cards art is from dp era Tcg that came out when I was a kid.
Really fun
3:16 having the power to completely shut down decks is more than a meme
Porygon Z kinda looks like Gengar. On paper it's really strong and super cool, but by the time they can actually do something, the opponent is usually already set up.
Weavile being weak to grass makes no sense lol
Probably weak to bug, but bug and grass is the same in tcg.
Still, I don't know why it isn't weak to fighting for its 4x weakness.
@possiblyPIKAbug weakness
Should be weak to fighting yeah it’s bizarre.
Electric is weak to fightning, why can't Dark be weak to grass lol
Hear me out. Manaphy enables the Dragonite + Misty mono electric deck I've always dreamed of. No longer am I held back by the specific wording of Misty or Vaporeon. I am free.
@@ben10sofie sadly, you'd have to use a Misty on Manaphy before using it as it requires a water energy if you're using mono-elec energy.
It seems less consistent than having double color energy. With manafy and misty you need manafy+Misty that makes at least one head+the three stages of dragonite on the bench And in all this your opponent doesn't have to kill manafy who only has 50 ho.
Manaphy requires water energy, so if you run mono electric you'd require a misty flip to turn the engine online. You are not free :(
Dragonite is just a bad card. Multiple different layers of rng blocking it from winning. I’ll eat my words if it happens but I don’t see that card ever being consistently good
Stage 2, four energy attack, no energy generator cards work on it (dialga technically will), multicolored attack, rng targets when you finally do attack
Also, running a Manaphy Garchomp deck sounds menacing. You can easily add the water energy with consistency.
3:51 that's some devious 🤣🤣🤣 o7
I absolutly love that they decided to reduce rng mechanics. Less coin flips = more fair gameplay AND less wait times. Makes fighting so much more enjoyable
This sounds kinda niche, but the fact that Rotom's attack is colorless is underrated. You basically can slot in a check for water decks. 50 damage for one energy and a tool attachment is pretty decent (plus whatever tools that help).
I've saved up 319 hourglasses for tomorrow. Can't wait!
Haha
I see that they changed the date of trades from Tuesday to Wednesday. I hope that does not mean there is trouble a brewing for our precious trades.
Garchomp + Greninja + Hitmonlee is where my brain immediately goes.
Feels like theyve really scaled back on energy requirements - 100 damage for 2 energy is kind of nuts even in a stage 2
Oh, I have been WAITING for Cyrus. We get to pick our opponents pull-up now?! Greninja just got a MAJOR utility buff
7:37 Well duh, its god
8:30 This could be very usefull with Gardevoir too, since it lets you attach 1 extra energy *from your energy zone*, so its two free potions per turn
If I knock out my opponents Pokémon, it seems unnecessary to check for paralysis. They should fix that. It would also speed up matches.
I think it'd be cool if they saved Arceus and Giratina for another one pack Mythical Island type set.
Low key Giant Cape feels amazing. Also surprised to see no tool removal, and instead just more damage if a tool is attached
3:15 garchomp with old porygon is good if it works the way i think. You can scan to see if you want to discard that turn to draw another card
Bidoof finally getting the divine treatment that he, as an elder God, deserves.
Mannnnnn congrats about to hit 100k subs 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
6:55 it’s nice to finally see a Staraptor card being added into the game hes one of my favorite flying Pokémon
Thank god i have all the top meta decks cause I really don't see the top changing only rogue decks being built
10:55 imagine that on creselia with a gardevoir
Cyrus the Pocket version of Boss' Order 🗿🗿
Been waiting all night for this video to come out! :P
oh that manaphy with vaporeon just made palkia more viable.
cresselia will heal 20 with gardevior's ability!
it should be mentioned that manaphy does not specifically say water to a water pokemon, so it does work on garchomp.
that Porygon-Z card looks disgusting
I think a metal Skarmiry Dialga and some normal type is going to be super strong.
