Just add some cherry shrimp to the breeder box with the eggs and they will keep the eggs clean! I much rather natural ways over chemical where u can help it.
Ive not tried to breed my corys they just go about it themselves.but i do stick the eggs into a breeder box when they lay them. I've found a pipette a handy tool for taking out any unwanted eggs. I sometimes also use it to capture eggs, but scraping them off the glass and sucking them up with the pipette as they come away . I will also just stick the eggs into the sump tank and let them grow out there or in with my shrimp. That said, I don't care how many make it as Im not intentionally breeding. they just do. randy little buggers

You have once again encouraged me to direct more attention to my Orange Lasers (CW010) as they haven't spawned yet. I have had them a year now. Thanks for the spawing updates, but can you share some information on how you condition your breeders? I'd be interested in knowing how you feed and do water changes. Thanks Tom!
My brother has orange lasers and he is still waiting for his to spawn. He has some really fat females. I would try and replicate my conditions and see what happens. Also try feeding some live black worms following a large cold water change. My temp is 76-77, TDS 40, ph 6.8.

Great video! I have around 13 panda Cory fry and more eggs in a large breeder box. It’s great watching them hunt for food. I can’t get many eggs to stick to the glass because my females lay them in the subwassertang and the get coated in sand! I’m still getting a high % hatch rate.
Never bred the lasers but have done some albino,green and I forgot the other. I do bredder box like you do. But I put Indian almond leaves in with it. Cover with a towel and keep dark.

Good question. I actually use a little polyester filter floss to eliminate any chance of them escaping out of the breeder box. It does clog up and needs replaced daily.

Cory species vary on there preference for depositing eggs. Some use mops extensively. Others deposit in sand, on glass, in the plants, etc. Why has collecting them off the glass not been working for you?
Could the lower amount of fry hatched be due to the female dropping the eggs before they were fertilized onto the substrate/ did you pikc those eggs that dropped onto the substrate that she dropped?

Thanks! The substrate is white play sand from Menards. A little larger grain that the pool filter sand I use, but also needs more rinsing. The bolbitis in this video was zip tied to smaller pieces of sinking Malaysian driftwood.
I have a couple of corys and one of them follows the other and flutters its fins along the top of it a good few times a day. I don’t think I’ve ever noticed any of my old corys doing this behaviour and wondered if anyone knew why it’s doing it? I’m guessing it’s showing interest for breeding, but I don’t see any difference in their appearance so wouldn’t be surprised if they’re both males. 🤷♀️
Bolbitis, if you haven't found it (or a good substitute) by now. The spelling may not be exact, but if you Google search "aquarium plant bolbi..." it should soon enough suggest the correct one!
Just seen this video. The plants were Bolbitis heudelotii, the Congo fern, which grow attached to submerged wood and stones. They prefer running water.
It looks like I ended up with about 50-60 fry from this spawn. Not too bad, but could have been much much better. Thanks for watching! 👍

About 60 days between spawns.
Hatching should be done in a closed container with oak leafs to prevent fungus.

If the eggs don’t stick does that mean they aren’t fertile? When I collected mine some didn’t stick and fell

Some corys spawn more frequently but also fewer eggs. My brother has a group of C. Duplicareus. He gets 5-6 eggs each day.

What size is the parent fish to spawn? How long does it take for the fry to mature to max size?
Females are 2”, males around 1.5”. They grow and mature fast. They can start breeding at around 1.25”.

Probably yes. Very likely a large percentage weren’t fertilized.

If you leave them in the main tank the way they were hatched, is there any chance of them hatching?
The adults can eat the eggs , as will the snails and Ancistrus plecos.
