Love it. When my parents here in Wichita got a new 1981 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series I was so impressed until my friend in Vickridge showed up in a new 1981 Continental Mark 6 in black with the moon roof, CB, 8-track, and so comfy. I loved and still love those cars today. Thanks Bob.
I'm still to get one of these '80s Lincolns before I die I do have the 79 Lincoln Mark v but I do want a four-door of this era damn it and I'm 58 years old so time is running out 😆😎😥
I just bought one identical to the one in the video. Only difference is it has cloth seats and digital dash, digital speedometer. Otherwise identical. It belonged to my great uncle. Kept it stored in garage. Never saw snow I believe. Very rare for Wisconsin. Please share any more if you can.
Great car!! Another great video!! I’m using a Lincoln Continental, 2017 variety, as my daily driver. It’s not land yacht proportions but it’s got all of the ride qualities you‘d expect. It’s a great car. Twin Turbo charged V-6, 3.0 L.
Thanks for the video. Bought back lots of childhood memories. My uncle worked for Ford, and would drive down a new Lincoln every summer for us to see in Texas during the 80’s. Best car ever made.
I was born in '83 and being a child and not paying attention aside, I don't think I have ever seen one of those in that good of condition let alone any vehicle from that time. Amazing!🤯
@@euroasianbob9268 Painted in baby blue with white trim and seats. Chrome all over including side pipes that run under both driver and passenger doors. Wood dash, interior door panels, and knob? Maybe a '57 Chevy that matches with a big block and blower? I'd say that is a start to my dream fleet 😁🤙😆 Bye the way I broke my dad's 1/3 $300 replica Stingray that had swing out doors and a hood that opened to a fully detailed engine bay when I was a kid. It was about the only time I saw him cry. I feel really bad even decades later. Looked just how I described it. Kinda like that Mark VI.🤔 Thanks for the memories!👍
Owned 4...limousines..would buy it but it doesn't have the digital dash..she's a truly beautiful Mark 6.. ABSOLUTELY appreciate you...thanks to Hoov and Wiz... 😎😗
Wow, what a beauty, how you find them is amazing. I had owned a similar 74 Mercury Marquis - a baby Lincoln of its time. Great ride, and Ford one-touch steering.
By 83, they were getting the bugs worked out of the CFI. My 85 TC was the pinnacle of the CFI. This is a lovely car. Watching til the end for the price!
@@euroasianbob9268 Seems like a pretty good deal. I live in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, and I would definitely consider buying an old 'boat' from you one day when i'm ready
fantastic up close and personal video on this beauty. be careful not to slice your knuckles around the wheel wells when you clean the tires, the inner trim work is not rolled stainless/chrome. i learned the hard way on my 1980 coupe.
At the time, Lincoln wiped the floor with Cadillac in quality. The Cadillac Brougham looked like a drunk person tried to put it together while blindfolded. The Lincolns were built on a totally different level. Screw Cadillac, give me a '89 TC with the fake convertible top, wire wheels and black upper/chrome lower body. Even mob boss Paul Castellano loved that car and was riding in one when he was assassinated!
I had a 1981 mark IV black with moon roof and grey leather interior with a 5.0 throttle body fuel injection with the turbine wheels on it with soft close truck.
The fact that this beautiful Mark VI doesn't include the digital dash display is a deal breaker for me. I fell in love with the innovative feature Ford introduced in 1980 as an option on the Continental Mark VI, Continental Town Car and the Thunderbird Town Landau. Back in the day my cousin had both an 80 T-Bird followed by an 80 Town Car a few years later both equipped with the digital dash option and was just an amazing feature for me as a teenage American Car admirer. But unfortunately Ford kinda limited certain options on the Mark VI due to it being the final year for the Mark VI making way for the Mark VII for 84. A Beautiful classic but I couldn't see myself purchasing this particular model due to the lack of optional equipment offered whereby a buyer in 1983 would have to look elsewhere or order the digital option for this vehicle for more money added onto the MSRP.
Hi Bob, wow what a stunning car, how on earth do you manage to get such really nice stock?? I think you have got the best job in the world... Stay safe and well Bob..👍🙂🇺🇲🇬🇧🇺🇲🇬🇧
Loved these cars, and Lincolns in general, as a kid...my dad was a Cadillac guy and had a new one every 3 years...but to me, Lincolns of the '80's & early 90's were lovely and way more appealing. I've always wondered though why Ford/Lincoln didn't install some sort of trim piece around the exposed headlights when the covers were open...as designed, the units look unfinished and inelegant.
The door handles look like they came off of a 1971 or 1972 Ford LTD. The Signature line was the top of the line when these were new. I thought the 1978 Lincoln Continental was better when these downsized Lincolns came out.
I had a 1988 Lincoln town car, mint condition, unfortunately I let it go in 2000, great car, very similar to this one, I think the color was toupe, not positive, always thought weird name, it was kinda purple, brown mix, sounds weird but it was nice.
I mean for markup you charge on these vehicles why should it be a debate on whether you do a paint correction on the vehicle? Originality only goes so far. So many dealerships cheapen out yet want top dollar for their cars. SMH.
It always surprised me that they didn't install a bezel or something nice around the headlights so that when they are on, it look's nice. Looks unfinished, like something is missing almost.
I paid quite a bit for it as I desperately wanted it. Hard to find like this. I begrudgingly listed it on our website. Hope it doesn’t sell too soon. It’s my current driver.
This was one of those odd unicorns that I never understood. Why was it even built? The Lincoln Town Car looks much more prestigious especially with the unusual black on chrome lower body and fake convertible top. Even mob boss Paul Castellano wanted that version of the TC. He and associate Tommy Bilotti were in a TC when they were assassinated in front of a restaurant in NY. This Mark VI was an odd duck. I never saw them in any color but powder blue and even stranger, a vast majority of them had the secondary headlights. These were single round lights on top of the swivel headlight covers. An owner told me they were useless. They were never bright enough to be used anywhere even in a parking garage so he always switched on the regular headlights. Also, the shark gill vents are fake. They do not provide cooling of any type for the engine. I did love the rear hump even though it was fake and couldn't hold anything. The only thing I never understood was why? What did the Mark VI have that the TC didn't? I would have picked the TC over the Mark VI any day because it just looked more prestigious. I loved the TCs in black on chrome with the canvas top and very intricate wire wheels.
Ah, to be a used car salesman is to be an eternal optimist. Granted this car is very nice, but just shy of what it would take to place well in the LCOC. A little money and time on the details would get you a primary 1st. As a point of clarification, this was NOT the highest level of Lincoln for 1983. You'd need it to be the Signature Series of this car for that statement to be true.
SOLD!!!

Omg. I had this same car in 1996, but mine was black. I called it “the land yacht”. I paid $300 bucks for it. Memories!!
