I’m concerned that my choroidal melanoma may have spread. I was treated at UVA fifteen years ago. I’ve done very well, and have had 20/20 vision, as well as good health. Starting in February of this year, I began to notice symptoms, but really thought it must be something different than a reoccurrence. My symptoms have continued to increase, but my doctor and family believe that I’m being too concerned, since I’m fifteen years out. I’ve tried to get answers, but am having a difficult time finding any doctors who will even listen to my concerns. I’ve had blood tests with my gp doctor and chest X-rays. The first test had to be repeated because of a few concerns. The second round of blood work came back ok. On Tuesday, the 25th, my ophthalmologist did more testing, and the eye is ok. He was pretty dismissive about further testing, but did reluctantly agree to contact UVA. So, I’m still waiting on the next step. If you or your staff know how to direct me, I would certainly be willing to participate in a clinical trial. If you read this and have wisdom on who to contact, I would be grateful.
