Gutted for ya. Same thing happened to me in the desert, ran the tank dry and holed the piston. I’ve just got mine back together, doing a more careful running in, too.
Back around 1970 a lot of my mates had Lambrettas they looked like Xmas trees overloaded with a multitude of mirrors & stolen spot lights clip on car headrests & loads of other ironmongery . Then they wondered why their paraffin pisser’s were struggling to hit a genuine 50 to 60 mph ,handled like pigs on roller skates & were always conking out or seizing up .. Seeing this I decided to use my head & buy a Honda motorcycle never had one break down on me yet in over 50 years . My brother also a biker has lost the plot in the last 10 years & has owed a Indian LML cloned Vespa & now a Classic 200cc proper genuine old school Vespa . Hope the damage isn’t too bad & you get her spannered & back on the road soon . 👍
Oh shite…Yep, yep, yep…Hope the piston rings ain’t gone on a sight seeing tour of the engine.. When it cut out it bought back a couple of memories. You handled it well though. Could of been a lot worse..I blame Neil Diamond !. She’ll be alright.. All the best from North London
Holed the piston about £140 for a wossner one, much better piston. Then do a thorough leak down test, because you have an air leak to cause the holes piston.
me and mate of mine took the a64 to whitby back in march for the national rally, looked like a scooter graveyard every mile or so there was someone broken down especially leading up to pickering
yes, I could read the rear lights flashing Morse code: Get a Vespa! lol. joking aside - that's a neat looking bike. sorry you had troubles. hope you can fix it.
Weve all been there. That heartwrenching pull of the clutch when you feel it run too sweet, too smooth, too lean and the engine note whine. Did i catch it in time? Has it just pinched up? Will it start after it cools a bit? Then you got that phone call to make where you have to sound like its an everyday occourance and water off a ducks back, but inside you are hollow
It's got a hand built AF RAYSPEED crank in it..... so I hope not 🙈 I did get the clutch in before it fully locked the back wheel up.... but not quick enough
@guccilover2632 hi mate, one of the studs holding the barrel on had let go... causing an air leak..... another Ts1 kit fitted today, and changed the gearing to give her a faster top end.... theoretically 85mph +..... so will stop me thrashing her 🙈
Often, on a 2 stroke, too much oil in the petrol will cause weak mixture and hole the piston. This was very common in the 1960s when there were many 2 strokes running around and riders thought more oil gave better protection for the piston.
The joys of a 2 stroke! . Always riding with one hand on the clutch 😮
🤣🙈🙈🙈
Hairdryers were never very reliable. Push them hard and they are going to break..
Never mind , its all repairable.
🤣🤣🤣

Thanks mate 👍
Sounded lovely up until that ! Lovely bike Pam
👍
Know those roads. Hope you fix it. Got to keep a few 2-strokes on the road. Lucky with that junction 👍👍
Cheers mate👍
Thank God you got off safely.
Thank you 👍
The irony of the engine blowing to the tune of "beautiful noise"
My sense of humour.... got to laugh or I'd cry 🙈🤣
Replayed that last part around 5 times to try to learn the sound, and hopefully avoid the same situation 🙂
Hope you get it running again...
All sorted mate👍

Feel your pain mate. Locked my RT195 up solid, on the A64, last year! Not good on any road, but on a busy major road, pretty hair raising!
I just managed to get to the slip road 🙈🤣
Best thing I've had done to mine (RT195) was to get a TV rodded 60mm crank fitted with a Suzuki piston.

Real sad, was running lovely 😢
👍👍
Two up. Coming bk from a run in the 80s on my gp200 rs stage 6 blew the big ends on m6
Been there & got the T-shirt 😊
Heat seizure, used to happen regularly to my fs1e.
👍

I DONT KNOW IF ITS JUST ME BUT IT SOUNDED RATHER RATTLEY FROM THE OFF HOPE YOU GET IT SORTED MATE
I could hear the rattle on the video afterwards.... but there was a fair bit of wind noise on the day and I didn't notice 🙈😥
Dammit! ...and some other choice curse words.
🤣🤣

Too true mate😥
That's why you shouldn't keep the throttle pinned open on a 2 stroke for to long. Gutted for ya.😢
Hope you sorted the squeaky shoe out Gary?????
🤣🤣🤣
ooooops
🙈
Not the best of days mate 😢
I've had better 🙈
On the up side.... I wonder how much bigger than a 225 could it be bored out to? 🤔🤣🤣🤣
ya crank snapped in half i think gary

Regardless of what we find tomorrow regarding piston / rings / barrel... the cranks coming out to check even if nothing obvious showing with it 👍
@@garymcleod2674 could be bearing or ya could get lucky rip the engine out and get it on the workbench keep us updated gary

Oh bugger! Hole in the piston = hole in the wallet!! Hope you get it sorted ok🥲

One of the studs had let go, and started sucking in air 🙈
@@garymcleod2674 Good you found the cause. I had a 1960 series 1 LI 150 back in 1972. Sold it for £10. If only we knew what they would sell for later
@@mrstupid hind sight mate.... we could all be rich now.... should have filled a shed with them back in the day 😉🤣
@@garymcleod2674 I still have 4 bikes to ride around on at age 70. One is quite fast and on my channel.
