- OVERVIEW
Join us for a two-part learning series focused on policy work aimed at protecting and strengthening injury and violence prevention (IVP) infrastructure. Recent findings from the Safe States IVP Infrastructure Survey revealed that respondents engage in policy and advocacy work in addition to their primary roles but only a few said they could apply the skill of educating policymakers. This series offers a clear introduction to IVP advocacy and outlines what to expect from upcoming legislative changes.
Part One: Inspire Learning
At the beginning of February, watch the recorded Inspire Learning video session to build foundational knowledge on advocating for injury and violence prevention (IVP) in today’s climate. In the first section, Paul Bonta, MA, Director of Government Relations at Safe States Alliance, shares insights on what to expect from the incoming administration. In the second section, Dr. Shannon Guillot-Wright discusses the difference between educating and lobbying in advocacy, along with successful strategies for policy engagement aimed at increasing funding to state and local IVP infrastructure.
Part Two: Ignite Conversation
On February 25th from 1:00 PM-1:45 PM EST, join the Ignite Conversation, a facilitated networking session to engage with other IVP professionals working on advocacy efforts. Both speakers from the Inspire Learning video will be available to answer questions and discuss their work. This session offers a chance to share challenges and successes from your own experiences and gain insights from others in the field.
