when searching for a replacement head unit do I have to specifically search for one to replace the mercedes 2000 ml430? which radio did you use? or just any 2 din radio that will fit? al suggestions greatfully accepted. thanx a bunch
how do you know if you have a bose?? how do you know if you have fiber optics Im getting conflicting info form\ people... I have a MCS/NAV 2000 ML430--- I pulled it out and see the fiber optic plug is not connected to anything- actually there a fake plastic "filler" plug going into it- so im assuming it is not fiber optic....does this mean I don't have the bose? I hope I don't because i want an easy replacement system... also any thing you could suggest?
So will this work? www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Female-ISO-Wiring-Harness-Car-Stereo-Adapter-Connector-Radio-Wire-Plug-/262835467213?hash=item3d3236f3cd:g:nkIAAOSwuxFY3Hxt
Did you ever take a look at the Metra 70-1786 harness? It looks like exactly what you described. This is the harness I used to integrate with the bose amp on my w210 e430. Would that harness be applicable in my ML as well?
Thanks for the video - a nice upgrade & very interesting! You mention the later models have fibre optic and can't be changed? My W163 ML500 was built in 4/2003 and it has a Clarion NX302A (2 DIN) multimedia/GPS/rear camera unit installed by the previous owner. I assume mine is pre fibre optic - can you confirm please? www.clarion.com/au/en/products/2012/multimedia/navigation/NX302A/au-en-product-pf_1259617719721.html I'm thinking of adding an 8 inch under floor subwoofer ( FUSION CP-AS1080 8 INCH ) just to beef up the "music bass" a little (I'm not interested in any excessive doof-doof stuff). It should be an easy install with a dedicated sub out on the back of the Clarion (I hope). I was told by the Fusion seller the sub/ amp must be connected direct to the battery so it works correctly - is this true, do you know please? I welcome any suggestions you may have.
+JanosWalter1 urs if says bose on speakers means that it is all fiber optics and the PO had the connections wired to individual speakers. he just payed up to get it done.
