I've actually forgotten the intricate details of all three moves, Chewie! But your video reminded me of them. Will drill them down with my wife. Thanks you so much
The main difference is the D'arce choke starts from the neck and the ANACONDA DON'T WANT NONE UNLESS YOU GOT BUNS HUN! Great videos thank you for the content.
We are learning stuff from turtle and im actually seeing openings for these during rolling. The biggest diff that ur vid taught me just now is which side the opponents arm is on for darce and anaconda. Now ill have a better idea of what im doing thx for the tip
This video was wonderful, I love how obvious the differences of the chokes are now. The chokes are the same in that they trap your head and one arm and they both have you curb around an push in Thier head to thier stomach as you circle and push thier head in with your stomach.
thanks to your channel,,,which i always watch after my training up until i go to next training...i've learned a lot... more power...hope i can vlog my experience next time... kudos - from a FILIPINO WHITE BELT in UAE
Could you talk about getting a Ezekiel choke from Mount and or guard? I can't get my top hand to go underneath the neck most of the time and even when they don't defend it I can't really get in in there ya know!?
I hit it all the time in the mount but getting it from the guard, while possible, is very difficult. You'll have a hard time getting the choking arm underneath the chin and across the throat while also wrapping your locking around the back of their neck because unless they're noobs most people will see it coming a mile away.
@@ThievesInTheTreasureRoom I only started doing it because this Blue belt was able to get almost everyone with it. White, blue, purple, and even a brown belt...once. that was the dudes signature move and he made it look so easy. Though when I was coming in jujitsu he moved to another state.
@@genises200 LOL Yea, I'm sure there's a handful of people out there that can make it work. And I'll bet every single one of the guys he tapped with it were wondering how the hell they got caught in it. I think you'll find that most guys you ask will tell you the same thing- works in theory, but very hard to pull off.
@@ThievesInTheTreasureRoom yeah I wish I could have asked him how he got it! He made it look so easy! Some people are really good at everything but there some that have a move that they know well in and out they can catch you eventually. People like that are awesome because they help you with common mistakes you will face in the future and you skip that big time process
Gotta use your head to turn their head away from your choking hand. Opens up the neck and can't see what your doing. Also, once you grab your own sleeve, pull your arm back, inside your gi, so your gi is basically covering your hand. This gives you more slack and much much easier to circle your hand into position for the choke.
Thanks a lot for this. I love your videos and they really help me as I have a similar physique (albeit fatter ;) ) so the adjustments really work me. Keep it up!
Trying to figure out first choke you saying is an anaconda when Grace Gracie was showing it at a seminar I was at called that a darce! It confuses people when on person saying this and another is say that
We’ve been doing frontheadlock position last week and this week! Darce and anaconda! How funny you did this video this week. Very helpful. Thanks, Chewy!
The difference between Anda, and dar, is just placement, around the neck thru the armpit, or thur the armpit around to pinch, you can roll or sit with both it depends on positioning.. I prefer the darc,..
Hey man, Love the videos. I’m about almost to a month I’ve been to about a dozen classes at my BJJ gym, And I’ll be 39 in July. The professors are great most of the other belts are awesome. I am very eager to learn And they are very open to teaching me.I have come across some dudes at my gym upper belts like purples with some stripes and a white belts with one or two stripes that it seems to be there’s no half speed. Even when professor says flow roll and warm up this dude thinks that he’s trying to smash me because I feel him trying to work something and I am not offering as much resistance because we’re supposed to be warming up. I guess my question is what do I do as a Brand new white belt that is eager to learn but also doesn’t want to get hurt by somebody who thinks every role is a competition?
Just choose who you role with, same happened to me as a lighter guy I kept getting injured cause some people just go to hard. Just tell them to go 80 percent.
Those guys are at every gym. They can’t ”lose” to a lesser belt so they do everything they can to win every roll. It’s frustrating! Choose who you roll with…
Hey bro! Amazing content as always. I have a question. Many black belts and color belts suggest that only people with good knowledge can teach. I’m a white belt, been training for a year almost and I have non jiujitsu friends that are interested in learning. We roll in my house but they won’t be comfortable to go to a gym. Many upper belts said that people would think that they teaching but they are harming by doing it wrong. What are you thoughts on that? I wish they would be down to go to a gym but they won’t.
from aide control . i like to trap my opponents right arm with my left knee, the reaction is usually them trying to free it with their left arm, thats when i grab the arm and pull it in, to set up my anaconda.
Where can you ask chewie a question? Ornif anyone else could help thatd be great! Im 5 foot 8 (173cm) short thick legs as i do alot of strength training could this hinder my triangles as i physically cant seem to lock them plus my rolling partner is quite broad i know to tighten the angle and i am working on it, it doesnt seem to be too much of an issue as i have tapped him a few times but id really like to improve it any help would be much appreciated!
At higher level anaconda just doesn't seem to be common at all. I haven't pulled a single anaconda or recognized situation for it in years. Darce, however, I can find in all sorts of situations. And it's even more viable because you can switch to japanese necktie, if darce doesn't work.
Chewy removed the base (arm) on the side he rolled to. I believe the other person can still base out with the other arm, making it more difficult the roll the other way. Just my 2 cents.
Short arms? Didn't notice..but you should be doing Lethwei with that cranium of yours (and now due to fear of being torn apart limb from limb...I will say...just kidding)

The Darce feeds under the armpit first and then around the neck; where the anaconda feeds around the neck first and then out the armpit.
