- Before celebrating Mass at St. Paul of the Cross parish in Rome April 15, Pope Francis answered questions from some young parishioners. Emanuele approached the microphone, but then froze. "I can't do it," he kept saying. Pope Francis then told him: "Come and whisper it in my ear."
That was so moving....bought tears to my eyes. Thank you Pope Francis for talking to the dear little boy and putting his mind at ease. God bless Pope Francis and the little boy.

I would imagine that God can do anything He wants to. Including taking in those that have had good hearts on earth, and yet ignoring those that plied their life to the bible, and yet did not do one good thing toward others except judge. Reading the words of Christ, he often looked where other's dared to tred to bring them the words He was put on earth to bring. The Pope gets it.

Any Christian (Catholic or Protestant) realizes that what the Pope said here isn't exactly scriptural. EXCEPT the part that it is God alone who judges. No one except God knows what is really in a person's heart. The father may have been an outwardly professed atheist, but perhaps deep in his heart he did acknowledge there was a God - he clearly believed this was a possibility when he baptized his children. I think many atheists WANT to believe, they just struggle with it. Again, only God can judge. Also, we are known by our fruits, and the Pope's point was that this man's fruit showed him to be a god-fearing man in spite of his outward denial of God. He baptized his children and was a good father and a good man. Since by definition God is Love, then there was something of God in this man whether he professed it outwardly or not. Strictly speaking, an unbeliever is not saved. But strictly speaking, none of us here on earth can make that judgment. The comfort the Pope gave this boy will strengthen his faith for a lifetime. That can't be wrong.
I think many people who call themselves atheists are far more pushed away by what humans do with religion. The many hateful posts here, which can be summarized by "The pope is wrong--- I'm saved and you're screwed if you don't follow the same rules" pretty much capture what is wrong with the "religion" that humans screw up.

I would say something to the effect that I have no way of knowing what might have passed between his father and God in his final seconds. But if his father is in heaven, he would want his son to be with him; if not, he would not want his son to be with him.
And I could tell that child and anyone else with absolute certainty that the only way for him or anyone to go to heaven is to rest all our repentant faith in Jesus Christ alone, trusting to His grace alone to save us through faith alone, to the glory of God alone, as I learn in Scripture alone.

The pope is not following Gods written word from the Bible! Jesus said the only way to the Father is through him. An atheist cannot go to heaven by doing good works since no one who is not sin free can enter. Only Jesus can forgive your sins if you confess and repent them to him with your heart. I'm a spiritualist. Not a christian, not an atheist, and not a satanist. I never thought that you needed to believe in this deity to serve eternal peace after death. I'm eleven years old, yet I'm choosing my own religion. You wanna know why? Because spirituality doesn't have a bible, it's something you have to believe from your heart, not a book. But I also do believe in miracles, and Pope Francis is a very wise man and he gives those miracles. And just by being a spiritualist, I don't believe that god isn't real, I do think he's real. I just don't care and actually in fact don't agree with some of god's rules. Therefor I'm done with Christianity. But I enjoy and love the Pope's spirit and love for god and his children. And I am 100% sure that this kid's father is watching over him from the clouds above, and is waiting for him to cross god's path to heaven. His father was a good man, a very good man. Dan mengapa Pimpinan gereja-gereja,mengganti nama Tuhan YAHWEH dan nama Tuhan Juruslamat YAHSHUA,dengan nama-nama berhala ciptaan manusia; dengan menggunakan alasan:”Theologia Kontekstual”,yang salah dan sesat tersebut.
Bertobatlah sdra/i sebelum terlambat. Dan jikalau sdra/i tidak mau bertobat. Maka NERAKALAH tempat sdra/i di ahir zaman.
Dan ingatlah dengan penjelasan Firman Tuhan YAHWEH,di Kejadian 17:1 dan Ulangan 18:13,yang menghendaki manusia,agar sdra/i hidup tidak bercela di hadapan Tuhan Bapa YAHWEH.
Dan Firman Tuhan di:Matius 5:48 menjelaskan:bahwa Tuhan YAHWEH Menghendaki agar umat manusia, harus hidup sempurna,sama seperti Tuhan Bapa YAHWEH yang adalah sempurna.
Dan ketahuilah,bahwa kata:HalleluYAH,memiliki arti:Pujilah YAHWEH,Tuhan:Bapa,Juruslamat dan Roh Kudus.
