here is the real story because my uncle was the Camat ( Assistant Regent ) of Baturiti, Tabanan - Bali.. the builder of this Hotel ( supposed to be Hotel Bedugul ) who is also the owner of Hotel and Restaurant Bedugul lake, spent tons of money for this hotel which the land is heritaged from his late father.. after 60 percent finished.. the Governor of Bali did not approve the permit.. because the rule of the regent not allowing such a huge resort for an area as protected as Bedugul area (lake, super huge botanical garden and the holly Beratan temple) yet the owner didn’t listen and keep on going.. still at the end he can never get the approval and he went bankrupt from spending TONS of his own and borrowed money.. tragic right? lesson to learn : make sure before you build... get the permit for what you build...
I Darryl Princess it’s not haunted, the tourist who made some video about it making up stories :(( these guys would have a problem there if it’s really haunted, cos the ghost /unseen spirits dont like to be disturbed by human, They normally showing their existence when people start coming to their habitat especially when you’re not saying a permision or greeting!
Hey josh since you're still in Bali, you should visit Taman Festival. It's an abandoned amusement park. Here's the address: Taman Festival is located along the JL. Pantai Padang Galak road in Sanur. It’s just a 7-min drive and 40-min walk up north from Sanur Beach. 😊
For you guys who wants to know. This hotel belongs Tommy Soeharto, a son of Indonesia's former president. His father had the longest reign over the country, over 3 decade. See where the money came from? You guess...
from the results of corruption, and you know that his father learned corruption from your government (Dutch East Indies) who had been colonizing Indonesia (Nusantara) for 10 times longer than the Soeharto government 😂
sawyerhartman Keep the videos coming from Bali! Incredible stuff! I'm so jealous of the stuff your guys and gals are exploring! Josh, ever thought about taking a sub with you on an adventure or any of you YT guys in Bali? Maybe a contest, winner gets to come along but you have to be cool and down for having fun and exploring and trying new stuff out. Just a thought!
Bizarrely, the actual history of the Ghost Palace Hotel is somewhat difficult to verify, but the most likely scenario is that it was built starting in the early 1990s as an investment project of Tommy Suharto, the youngest son of former Indonesian President Suharto. Tommy went to prison in 2002 after being convicted of ordering the assassination of a judge on Indonesia’s Supreme Court who had previously found him guilty of corruption charges. Subsequently, construction of the hotel ground to a halt and has never restarted.
I wonder who owns the land ? It seems quite far from everywhere. I'm guessing that after the 2002 terror attacks, there was a big downturn in tourism and it wasn't worthwhile for another investor to step in and finish it.
The history behind this place is that it was built by Tommy Suharto, known as the Ghost palace hotel in bali, but really called PI Bedugul Taman Rekreasi Hotel & Resort. It is known all throughout bali that this place is completely haunted. Tommy was said to be a very cruel man who tried to curse his rivals out of the way by making the most luxurious hotel and many laborers were killed in the process of making this grand place. It's also believed that you can see the spirits of wandering laborers and Tommy's competitors. Although the hotel has never opened to the public, it's believed that it already has a full house every night with spirits
chloe razink never thought bout the ghost, but I think the main reason is because Soeharto isnt in reign anymore and somehow the construction was stopped
They never finished the project because this place is cursed, local people there, said that this place should not build. but, "the owner" insist to make a building. after several weird things happen "the owner" decided to stopped the building project.
I believe it's simply that they're run out of money and with the Bali Bombings, the tourist numbers significantly dropped, hurting local businesses. And I know the route going into the place is not near any tourism site, so they probably halted the construction in hope to returned there later.
Christian Djami Tommy Soeharto runs out money?? no shit. he even builds several skyscraper towers in Jakarta. Tommy Soeharto just stopped this, because they believe in supertitious, right after it started to build, the family got many weird things happened to them. Tommy soeharto being jailed for murder was one of the examples.
Josh if you read this I just want you to know that you are awesome and you've really inspired me because I love your abandoned series and just want you to know that I want you to do more and i'm glad to see you already almost at 2 million because I was here when you had only 600k!! I want to thank you so much for all you have made and inspired me with, thank you and keep up the good work. -CW
ToxicGalaxxy Jamaa lawang sewu is a haunted place in semarang and the building has so many doors and actually i live in semarang so i know about lawang sewu
I live in Bali and often pass by this place, and I often wonder why they stopped this project. this place is amazing, massive, and I'm sure if it's done it will be really great place. my parents said it's because they don't get permission from the government don't know why. thanks for uploading this video, I always wonder what's inside.
This is my FAV that u have ever done!!! So majestic and like u said...not even real. Loved the camera angles and the mist!! Totally awesome. Fantastic job u guys!! 👍❤❤❤
The architecture is breathtaking. I always fascinated with indonesian woodworking and stone carving skills. They are one of the best in the world. I had a chance to vist my cousins house in indonesia and he had a small bali garden. It was a garden fit for an expensive hotel.
well because it's Bali bro, they respect anything sacred. if you go to Jakarta you'll be lucky if you find any clean looking abandoned place like this lol
I couldn't believe it, you guys actually been there! Welcome to Indonesia anyway, lots of beautiful nature, building and secret are just ready to be explore....
it's 95% built but it went against the regulations of bali's building rules. it wasn't supposed to be this tall (buildings in bali cannot be taller than a certain temple i forgot what the temple name was) and this hotel was taller than that temple so they stopped the whole process and abandoned it though it's already 95% built
rizka ardina so far i know, i think the rule says it's not taller than particular temple but cannot taller than coconut trees (that's why we never see any skyscraper in bali), but some rules also said you cannot build any buildings near temples or any sacred places
I'm from Indonesia and I live in Bali, but yes there are many abandoned places around here. There's an abandoned school nearby my house, its like 12 minutes to walk from my house. Some of historical places are repainted. There are many teens suicide than adultd in Indonesia. 4/5 years ago there was a teacher who commited suicide in my neighbourhood. My aunt just told me that she saw a ghost with a dark hair but I 50% believe and 50% don't believe in ghosts so my house is being haunted!!!
Monica Apre explore with josh ga explore hantu, mereka explore bangunannya...klopun ada yg aneh , mereka ga prnh nanggepin serius mlh ketawa2..bule mah ga percaya ama gituan
Jester Hedgie Because in fact the owner is a very rich villain in Indonesia. Check a man with name Tommy Suharto. The youngest son of President Suharto.
Why not try to go to Menara Saidah? It is in Pancoran, South Jakarta, Jakarta, capital of Indonesia. There's a red ghost, a woman in a red dress. The tower has a Greek-style buildings
oh my God ! Josh, you srsly went there? I'm Balinese and when I was really young even until now i always pass by this hotel/resort, my mom and dad told me this place is haunted and sometimes random ghost voices been heard by ppl who live nearby, btw this resort is very famous for being haunted by local !!! so many bad and horror stories about this hotel ! finally I had a chance to know what's inside of this place. omg josh ! u r brave man ! keep up the good work ! oh and just fyi that place is abandoned because the developers didn't have the permit to built it and there's also many reason tho, but I'm not quite sure.
Shanitabi Wedha i think whats more amazing is the fact that the property is still in a good condition for some reason, don’t you think so? I’ve drive passed by this place couple of times, even had coffee on the warung above this place, that time it was raining bad, and very misty day (which made it more mysterious). Have to admit this area has one of the most amazing scenery. I heard driver had accident because there were women showing up on the balcony. But i’ve never heard of why the property cannot be demolish though.
I wish it was finished construction, it shows to be a wonderful hotel. Feel bad for the owner they just abandoned it. Thank you guys for sharing this adventure and take care!
Why it never got finished? Well because the tourism dried up rather abruptly after the first bali bombing. There was a lot of places went out of business due to that. Just as tourism was slowly starting to pick back up, there was the second bombing which drove tourists away again. Even if this place was completed, it would not of been able to recoup the costs from the construction due to the drop in tourists. It's really a shame, it's such a beautiful looking hotel. And now I've watched this, I'm getting all sentimental, I miss my "moge" or big motorcycle (90's ZXR 750) I had when I used to live over there. Loved to go touring from Yogyakarta to bali.
Being or not being a tourist hotspot was not the point, the point was the decline in foreign tourists due to the bombings. I was living in Indonesia from 2000-2006 and visited bali many times, but tourism was never really the same after the first bombing. Most western governments had issued travel warnings due to terrorism and to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary. Many cancelled their vacations. I do stand by what I say as it was a devastating hit to tourism in general for bali. That said, you do make a valid point about religious perspectives. I recall my father having invested in a time share in bali and as I understood it, the locals were furious due to it's location. But then again, there were numerous hotels, guest houses and time shares in the hills/mountains also to the resentment of the locals in their areas. As to the owner/developer getting issues with the law/permits, it's very possible, however, given the income it would have bought in had it been completed (if the bombings had not happened) who's to say how many people would have their fingers in the proverbial cookie jar. Again, only speculation.
tourism in bali only be decrease 2-4 year after the bombing, you can do some little search in google if you want to know the chart but after 4 year international tourist be increase again ( well maybe not many australian due the victim mostly australian, but russian, japanese, chinese, korean tourist increase ), i still think its because religion and the owner law problem , because that bullding is belongs to tommy soeharto ( he is son of ex indonesia presiden soeharto ) he got law problem and being in jail for murderer .. so some of tommy"s asset being stop because of that, like pecatu indah bali (dreamland) ... thats construction being halt until tommy being realesed from jail.. i think pecatu became first project to continue because its not have many problem ( like local law, religious, construction, etc) than PI bedugul which have many problem and much have greater restoration because it not be used like dream land which still became tourist place even its not completed ( because its have private beach ).
Very serene, like a glimpse of the future after the warring species has died out. I feel human structures look so welcoming once nature has had the time, and the chance to reclaim it's land. Great channel btw
It's such a beautiful place, they should have completed the project. Bet many people would be willing to stay there because just look at the sceneries, absolutely amazing.
Saya sebagai orang indonesia hanya memperingatkan, kalian boleh menelusuri semua keangkeran temlat di indonesia, tapi jangan di malam hari takutnya ada sesuatu nanti, apalagi kalian bukan asli Indonesia,, makasih.
i recomend you to go to Lawang Sewu in Semarang, it's Java language means "1000 Doors'', why is it called "1000 Doors''? because there IS so many doors in that building, the local peoples said that that place is somekond of haunted and NEVER caunt the doors, it's just bad, dont do it. Oh and if you go to the Basement, you will get the chills cause...well......im not good at English so i cant tell the history... YwY maybe you will intrested, im just recomending :D Peaacee
Yup Lawang Sewu is haunted. Every door had 6 door (i think) And you can't say something like "THERE'S A GHOST!" And the history says that it was supposed to be a place where they are alot of train (i think) and there was a place that is the most haunted there. Watch a video that is out by Atta Halilintar.. he explore it, he said he feel kinda itchy. (Maaf pake bahasa inggris.)oh and there was a rest room that was made by... Uh.. Netherland Peoples/orang Belanda outside of the buildings (you can see it before you go inside it) and there is a?... bsjsjsmsjsksjs i forgot but it has something i always forgot ;-;, and there would be a person who would close all of the door and find if there's someone lost ,or something like dat. ;-; P.S : Grammars and spellings are fixed, just a little.
you should stay 1 or 2 nights in a abandoned haunted place like that in Indonesia, i bet you will see the ghost, one of them the infamous KUNTILANAK..scary women ghost wearing white long dress
So I visited this hotel a few days ago, and I was lucky enough to find a local who was able to tell me a little bit about the hotel. Supposedly it belonged to the president of their country, but he was involved in criminal activity and the hotel was closed when his money dried up. There is also a story of a Russian man that went to explore this place at night, he disappeared shortly after entering the hotel. The locals that are violets, people who can see ghosts, say that they have been in and seen ghosts walking around. Regardless, I wanted to see this place for myself, and it is truly one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.
Reminds me of a game called Last of Us, how nature overtime, just grows uncontrollably and just takes over whole buildings that has been abandoned by civilisation for a long time, leaving the most stunning and chillest views I’ve ever seen.
So beautiful and so sad no one can enjoy this paradise. Pitty. I love how you react... With respect and admiration! 👍 Thank you. Greetings from Athens,Greece.
Whoah!! It's stunningly bea-u-tiful!! I am totally blown by its size and space beauty! What a pity and a waste that it wasn't finished, and rather eventually abandoned.. The place... oh my, when it's covered with fog.. is awe-soooome!! But moreover, thank God you were all ok. I mean it's a foreign place, away from city and no immediate community nearby. Yeah , so keep safe wherever else you explore.
Gosh...gosh...gosh. I have never heard or seen this place before. Ghost Palace, isn't actually haunted, right? I visited Bali loads time, but not seen this. As some people left comments below, the hotel belongs to the late President Soeharto's son, so it is probably still under government investigation for corruption so it could be a bit illegal for anyone to re-use it for a business purpose for now? But, my goodness, look how amazing the design is, and the space, and location..... I am speechless. This may be a crazy legacy of "corruption scandal" by the late president's family. I wish it can be used for something useful. Why don't you guys (as young Americans) try and find out a bit more about it. You could work with an NGO, such as Bill and Melinda Gate's foundation), turn it into an amazing youth project, working with the Balinese Government, and make it into an "ART SCHOOL & EXHIBITION HOUSE" to house art ideas and exchange by young people from around the world. Happy to get involved on the textile side of it :). When there is a will, there is away. Turn your discovery into a world-changing project. Good luck!!
let me guess that place was supposed to be another Grand Hyatt resorts in there... but, who knows mate, could you go to Indonesia again and explore Saidah Tower..? locals said it's haunted in some spots
really, Josh said it shutted down before finish when Bom Bali happened if it owned by Soeharto's son, it should shutted down when reformation happened in '98 :P
That's why I love my country it's so beautiful from top, peoples that I don't know even was nice, btw I live in Indonesia and some Americans don't know but, Bali/Denpasar, are in Indonesia
I can't believe it myself how can there's such a green and clean abandoned place in my country. It's so surreal almost doesn't feels like Indonesia at all
Archaeologist after 1000 years: Discovered such a beautiful place. Can't imagine who thriving this place might have been. South east Asian ghost: Nope, Govt. didn't give permission and it was left abandon.
ua-cam.com/video/65n-T31vIJM/v-deo.html Mahameru or Great Meru is just one of evidence of Hindu, wasn't religion as today but an Ancient region from Indonesia all the way to Europe. As India the significant remaining. I am not surprised in Bali 2012 I had a bizarre experience meeting one of my Ancestors from another realm, out of common people logic spiritual understanding. As surrounding of Bali's 4 mountains, is Gate 7 of Earth's Chakra 7th which is Mount Kailash Tibet. Called Hindia, Indus, Indo (also Indo Europe and Indo Persia), Indonesia means Indo Nesos, Indo Islands, exactly on center of Equator line. Richest nature on entire world. Most humid yet stable weather all year around, alway sunrise at 6 AM to sunset 6 PM. Sumatra means Sumer/Summer/Sun/Gold + Tera/Terre/Earth/Land = Mother of Sumeria. The highest humidity and with so many volcanoes than anywhere in the world made the things decaying easily, worldwide still don't know about our oldest ancient civilization before the massive eruption of Toba 74000 years ago resulted today world's larget crater lake, volcanic Toba lake with width around 100 kilometers. As our Ancestors were even much more advanced than us today and flee towards today Europe, Middle East, America escaped the eruption larger than Yellowstone USA. #Indonesia #Atlantis Minangkabau, Batak, Sumatra, Indonesia Minangkabau Sumatra = Minoan Europe Batak Sumatra = Batak Bulgaria Egypt isn't oldest civilization. But Indonesia. Bit by bit the veils are uplifted, limited knowledge of present world is incomplete and inaccurate. Including how they west and middle east has been drawing Indonesia too small on world map especially since Mercator 1569 while should be almost as wide as Russia. Majority of people don't even know that our Ancestors technology was much more advanced than us now. They don't know anything about human civilization before 74,000 years ago the massive eruption of supervolcano Toba on Sumatra shaped today world's largest crater lake on earth. Toba is bigger than Yellowstone USA. Again, present education worldwide has very limited knowledge, based on their limited nature. Our Ancestors knew about the eruption before it happened and migrated towards West; Middle East, Europe and America. The fact is Indonesia center of the world, richest nature in whole world on center of earth's Equator line, is the root not the other way round. Biblical/Alquran/Koran stories including about Adam and Eve are just metaphorical fairytales in fact all those religious stuff are just fairytales. Religion = Region rely on legion and legislation. Sumatra (Sumatera) = Sumer/Summer/Suma/Sun/Gold + Tera/Terra/Land = Mother of Sumeria #world Duduk in Indonesian/Malaysian means to sit, to stay. #Indonesia #Armenia The same Instrument here in Indonesia. Greetings from Wonderful Indonesia :) Hindu, Hindia, Indo, Indus was all the way from Indonesia to Europe (including Indo Persian and Indo Europe) today significant remaining is India. Indonesia means Indo Nesos, Indus Islands exactly on center of Equator line, richest nature on earth. Minoan Europe = Minangkabau Sumatra (Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, The Philippines, Magascar Africa, etc) Batak Bulgaria = Batak Sumatra Draco, Dragon, Naga, Serpent/Snake Sumatra = Romania, Macedonia, Greece, etc. Trajan, Trayan, Trojan, Dacia of Europe = Tiraoyan Sumatra (my belated paternal Grandmother passed away at age over 100 years old was named Princess Tiraoyan of Minangkabau). ua-cam.com/video/tKVzm0SBYtQ/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/dmdR4ArLQkw/v-deo.html Newly discovered 25000 years old ancient pyramid on Sunda Western Java Indonesia (Sundaland Archipelago, today Indonesia, Malaysia and surrounding) is one of proofs unveiling to the world, rewrites human history, "Gunung Padang" means Mountain of Light, the ancient pyramid was covered by rainforest even the Dutch also thought it was just a natural regular mountain.
Omg!! I live in Indonesia!!!!! But not in Bali tho... I'm in Yogyakarta!!! But i'm glad that u guys visited my country 😭😭🙏🏻💖 love u guys... Keep doin wht ur doing okay😆✌🏻️
Oh my God its beautiful building if it finish. I love it. Hoping the contractor or the owner will finish it to have another attraction in Bali Indonesia.
Indonesian people never go to abandoned place because they still believe to ghost and local myth. So, the abandoned place in Indonesia is mostly untouched by people except the urban explorers. Greet from Jakarta btw :D
I hope it will be used someday. Very cool artwork, love the dragons. I think it looks neat the way the jungle grows over everything, I think they should leave it that way.
Go there in midnight is awsome, maybe you'll find something called "ghost"(white woman with very long hair and "ugly" face, big black thing, died soldiers, cute girl w/ old fasion umbrella, etc) :D
What a wonderful place! So glad to see it Josh. What a shame it was never completed. Btw they really know how to do weather over there - and that's from the UK lol
last weekend i did what you are doing, i went into an abandon house and the houses has been abandon for 14 years and i went to court and have community service :(

well because it's Bali bro, they respect anything sacred. if you go to Jakarta you'll be lucky if you find any clean looking abandoned place like this lol
Besakih temple
Instead of demolishing a floor or two they abandon the whole thing? If it is taller why would they let it be there?
I'm Indonesian myself , and you should definitely do more in Indonesia,we've got a lot of scary places here!
Seems like the perfect house for a rich villain. Like a drug lord or something.
Jester Hedgie Because in fact the owner is a very rich villain in Indonesia. Check a man with name Tommy Suharto. The youngest son of President Suharto.
Your rich villain had kill a supreme court judge around 2004/05
your right man, the owner of these villa is rich corrupt politician as they said.
Why not try to go to Menara Saidah? It is in Pancoran, South Jakarta, Jakarta, capital of Indonesia. There's a red ghost, a woman in a red dress. The tower has a Greek-style buildings
oh menara saidah udh kosong yah sejak kpn? udh 8 thn ga tinggal dijkt

Indonesia is like the home of abandoned buildings and places.
Jo TheThird its not true
Alma Salma well, all i see is abandoned buildings everywhere.
Jo TheThird i'm from Indonesia. not all of place is abandoned
that's kinda insulting ya know..... the places that look abandoned are homes to people who can't afford shit...
Joshua Alfano
Batam for one is filled with a lot of run down buildings.
Loved to go touring from Yogyakarta to bali.
also, my pic is from a night with a friend in bali :D
This might be Sacred Riana most lovely place..hehe
This place eerily beautiful.. So surreal...
The most beautiful abandoned place IMO..

MOST OF THE STATUES AND PAINTINGS AND FRAMEWORK U DO SEE IN BALI , IS ALL DEPICTED FROM HINDU TEXT , MAHABHARAT OR RAMAYAN

of course, Because most Balinese adhere to Hinduism, and surely there are similarities in culture with other Hinduism from other country

i recomend you to go to Lawang Sewu in Semarang, it's Java language means "1000 Doors'', why is it called "1000 Doors''? because there IS so many doors in that building, the local peoples said that that place is somekond of haunted and NEVER caunt the doors, it's just bad, dont do it. Oh and if you go to the Basement, you will get the chills cause...well......im not good at English so i cant tell the history... YwY
maybe you will intrested, im just recomending :D
Peaacee
Yup Lawang Sewu is haunted. Every door had 6 door (i think)
And you can't say something like "THERE'S A GHOST!" And the history says that it was supposed to be a place where they are alot of train (i think) and there was a place that is the most haunted there. Watch a video that is out by Atta Halilintar.. he explore it, he said he feel kinda itchy. (Maaf pake bahasa inggris.)oh and there was a rest room that was made by... Uh.. Netherland Peoples/orang Belanda outside of the buildings (you can see it before you go inside it) and there is a?... bsjsjsmsjsksjs i forgot but it has something i always forgot ;-;, and there would be a person who would close all of the door and find if there's someone lost ,or something like dat. ;-;

Where did you find the story about the Russian man?
Reminds me of a game called Last of Us, how nature overtime, just grows uncontrollably and just takes over whole buildings that has been abandoned by civilisation for a long time, leaving the most stunning and chillest views I’ve ever seen.

Glad that you've visited my country, there are many abandoned places throughout the country with histories. Hope you had a blast.
Good luck!!
It's not searched anymore I'm so mad bcs people still thinks of this
let me guess
that place was supposed to be another Grand Hyatt resorts in there...

Mahameru or Great Meru is just one of evidence of Hindu, wasn't religion as today but an Ancient region from Indonesia all the way to Europe.
#Indonesia #Atlantis
Minangkabau, Batak, Sumatra, Indonesia
Minangkabau Sumatra = Minoan Europe
Batak Sumatra = Batak Bulgaria
Egypt isn't oldest civilization.
Sumatra (Sumatera) = Sumer/Summer/Suma/Sun/Gold + Tera/Terra/Land = Mother of Sumeria
