I love Rose, but prefere his pupil Jaqueline Du Pres recording of Lalo... ...and Hornung? He is so much out of both their possibilities. You can not compare Morphy, Capablanca, Kasparov and Carlsen. If you did, directly, Carlsen would smoke them all. Even if all the others really were much more ahead of their times. But even in Leonard Roses time, listen to Navarras Lalo. You don't need to like it, but "better" in a technical sense, even in musical clarety, is not what one can say about Roses Lalo after that. If you really pay attention to the definition of sound, sadly, Rose is so much detached and in front of the orchestra from a sound engeneering standpoint. Sb. wanted him to sound really big on that record. When his most lovely qualityies were warmth and modest, truthfull music for the sake of beauty...
@@pajaf0341 J. Dupres didnt study with the GREAT L. Rose....FYI - Also, I'm not sure why you are so 'sensitive' about the word "better"...FYI = I never used that word...'I prefer' meaning I 'like' it better, as in, I like Chocolate ice cream more than I do strawberry........and DON'T even get me started on vanilla......
@@pajaf0341 WTF from a technical standpoint your Du Pre doesn’t come close to Hornung. Hornung is the pinnacle of technical abilities. Also he brings outstanding musician-ship.

Very well done indeed, though not impeccably so (e.g. 17:03, 24:41). But who cares - Hornung is such a gifted musician ...
Well done - almost as good as Leonard Rose, who set the Platinum standard for this work.
