These types of scams generally don't work on tourists anymore. Transportation and temple and shopping scams are found in every city .
True but I actually see tourists stopping and talking to these guys all the time. I think it often depends on somebody’s travel experience.

Truly appreciate your sage advise Cal. I went through the same thing in the Philippines when I stationed there with the US Navy. As soon as I learned how to speak the native language it stopped 😂

Lady chats you up then says she has a daughter that wants to go to Canada and insists that you go with her to meet the daughter. You take a cab with her and arrive at some house somewhere where an older gent tells you that you can learn to cheat at cards and win big at the casinos in Cambodia. He will teach you then you have to get into a "real" card game that's going on. You have to play with your own real money and you will surely lose because they are all cheating. There is no daughter to be seen. Decline to play and get the hell out of there.

last month on my vacation to bangkok, friends and I had lunch at a place and the owner started a convo about where are we going next etc. We said we were going to wat arun and he launched his pitch about a very cheap tuktuk to help us get there. paid 20 baht to be taken to a dock where we were told a boat tour would take us around and end in wat arun. long story short, we haggled down to 20% original price (thanks to all the bangkok youtuber videos) but at the end of the tour it didnt dock at wat arun lol. some of the scams you can only laugh about when they get ya (it was still a decent canal tour)
Yeah I think the main advice I would give is just to never follow any recommendations when you are in tourist areas. They are almost all going to be some kindof hustle. I totally agree with your approach on just taking it with a laugh as a learning experience!
