When you see the contrast between Love wins all and this song, you truly realize how multi-talented IU truly is! To go from a story telling, ballad to this upbeat, pop track and absolutely KILL IT with both songs is just unreal! This song is not only fun and catchy but it has a wonderful message and speaks directly to a vast majority of audiences! I cannot even express how much I truly love IU!

yep! since she turned 23 she’s always been the producer for her albums, which was why she was one of the first (if not the first) idol to win producer of the year instead of the usual CEO producers. she’s won producer of the year a couple of times, but where she really shines is her lyrics. She has won Lyricist of the Year multiple times as well. :)

Yeah she has always been this involved. Since 2015 she wrote almost all her lyrics (all but 1.5 , love alone and dear name where she co-wrote) and produces all her song and compose some of them.
She did it even before 2015 but not many songs

And yes ever since she took control of her music in 2013. Her resulting 1st album at that time was totally, written and Produced by her and she composed some of the songs.
She wrote the lyrics and Produced the Love Wins All MV. And something tells me the MV will also be Produced by her. We already know that all the songs are written by her.
Sweety bird is a WB character.
To truely understand many IU videos you really need to know more about IU background. For example, without knowing IU's concert history, where she has performed how she has grown her concert tours. Which have been to this point all in Korea and southeast Asia. Slowly adding countries. And if you don't know that their were people around her and in the Korean media who have been suggesting that IU doesn't need to come to the US to prove anything and others have suggested that she shouldn't do so. If you didn't know that this was her 1st video to be made in the US you would likely over look the significance of that fact as part of the story she is telling. If you didn't know that IU's plan all along has been to build up her concerts slowly you might fail to see the significance of this next step she is taking. Etc.
Holssi means, the translation can be, seed or spore even Dandylion, which for the video all fit.
Here is my take on this MV. And she drops another video tomorrow I believe.
The fact that it was shot in LA, I believe is a key to what the song is about. This is the 1st time IU has made a video in the US & guess what she is coming to the West (Europe and the US) to hold concerts for the 1st time. Don't tell me there isn't a connection. And by filming here & using LA has a back drop and American dancers she is establishing a connection to her Western audience.
There have been a lot of people, in Korea particularly, who say & have been saying, that IU doesn't need to prove herself by going to the US or Europe.
It seems as if she is talking to directly to someone, and telling then her plans and to not worry about her, she has this.
The opening scene of the figure floating is IU as she is coming to LA. The disruption the we see her on the ground looking across at LA. She has used this type of device before. Specially in Above the Time and Blueming (the vibration shown in the cup of water and then the shaking in Blueming, those 2 videos along with You & I as Pt1 and. Strawberry Moon as the final part make up a trilogy +1 story concerning a decade) to show a disruption in the Time/Space/Dimension continuum.
Analyzing the Song from this perspective
Where I lay will be somewhere much higher (by higher she doesn't mean better but rather higher risk then before. And obvious reference to the West in General and the US in particular.)
She spreading herself like Dandylion spores on the wind. (Which are carried by the wind carelessly without regard for boundaries or borders.)
She isn't going to settle on smooth ground (i.e. she is going to land and try to take root on comfortable easy terrain).
She says she is a single spore (a soloist).
On a different road. (She is taking a different road then what female Korean soloist usually take.)
Fly high to bloom. (To reach her full potential)
If any asks how I'm doing
Send them the news
"She has become a spore" (she has taken to the wind, flying without wings where she lands nobody knows, meaning how will things turn out no body knows).
Follow me, gonna go and win (she will succeed on this different road).
Follow me, even without wings (on social media etc she will be visible. And take this journeywith her)
I'll fly in the center for everyone to see (like her last 4 indoor concerts in the round, she wont shy away or hide from the spotlight)
The sky above is blinding. (All the lights and attention will be blinding. But she'll have her sunglasses)
But I'm not afraid of heights at all. (She is not afraid of the risk she is taking. A risk many others, have advised her against taking.)
I'll fly so close to the scorching sun ( the pressure and heat will be scorching she knows but she will push the risk factor in order to succeed. )
But she will sit on a cloud (and enjoy the show)
And she might cause a little ruckus while she's at it just for fun. (meaning watch out, expect the unexpected in typical IU fashion)
The road ahead won't be easy. (She knows the risk and how difficult it will be)
But I won't fuss about it (she won't complain or make excuses)
This was my choice, it always has been (no one pressured her or said to truely make it you have to make it in the US. It's her choice and always has been. Whatever happens it's on her no one else).
The odds of it being easy are zero (acknowledging she is fully aware of what she is embarking on)

I'll even say goodbye (this sounds too much like her lyric in Eight where she is angry that her friends who passed away by suicide and " who just come and go as they please without even saying good bye". But she is saying goodbye, possibly saying she isn't committing career suicide. )

Tweety bird reference is definitely important and significant. A profile picture I saw has Tweety dressed like IU. So this reference becomes a little clearer. IU is likening herself to Tweety. Always returning to the cage which isn't a prison but rather a safe and comfortable place. Whch I suspect includes in addition to Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Hong Kong Singapore etc all the places she has regularly toured ever since she started touring outside of Korea in 2017. Could it be IU's way of saying that she is leaving the cage and it's safety and comfort to see how high she can fly. To which I say go Tweety go we are all with you.
By filming this in the US with American dancers and American neighborhood etc, she is establishing a connection with her western audience.
The ending credit scene where the IU HOLSSI kite/balloon is behind the powerless gives the image that it is still in a cage and safe.
It is also interesting that the child looking out at the other kids dancing with IU, and appears to be interested but also a little nervous appears to be of Asian descent. (Meaning could be the child in IU that is still a little nervous or when she was younger the thought of doing what she is now doing was scary or that she is acknowledging those in Korea who worry about her) the worrying about her however extents to all her fans around the world.
At the end she allows the cartoonish IU go as the real IU, who is no longer wearing the Dandylion outfit of the ballon/kite gets ready to head out on her different road.
